Check out all the shading. I wonder if the final product will have any shading or if it's only because this is a proto. Too bad the eyes aren't lit up here.
Ya know, I kinda doubt you'll actually be able to turn the lights on and off with a remote control. I'd think a pic of the remote would have shown up by now. I think it'll be great anyway though.

Actually the remote is being held by the little boy ( I can´t recall his name anyway).
And from the pics the robot is very poseable too.

So you think there's a switch on the boy somewhere that can turn the lights on? I was talking about an actual remote control for the lights.

I don't think there will be an actual remote control for this figure. In my guess there will either be a switch on the figure itself or what I'm hoping is when you put him on his base his eyes will light up, of course it will have an on/off switch so it won't drain the batteries.

I think the boy's name is Shotaro?
Anyhoo, if you look at the background pic, you'll notice that there are 2 color eyes...yellow and red...would that suggest a "light-up" feature with 2 options or a paint variation?

Well, in the larger pic of Shotaro (thanks), that had been posted before on the other thread, we can definitely see him holding a remote control.
It would be very easy to do this gimmick , even with two collors, I mean, micro remote control cars cost 3 bucks each.
This big baby goes for 55, and has no other gimmick.
I believe in the remote control theory.

any thought on price for this old school beauty? I guessing around 75 american. Thoughts?
2 color lights? Woo hoo! i wonder if Bandai will begin a shaded paint variant for the entire line. I certainly hope not.

I hope the shading doesn't make it to the final build. I would love to see the classic slight blue sparkle fleck in this paint. And it does seem like his legs are a bit thin. He may follow the way of Liger and may be prone to stand support on account he looks top heavy. These aren't bad things necessarily. I'm looking forward to putting him on display.

Speaking of stand support, I really love the stand for the liger. I've got my liger in a great running pose with neither of the feet actually touching the stand- the entire thing held up at the waist. Thanks to that stand the top heavy liger is essentially my most posable soc, since I can leave it in poses that are too unstable to leave other socs in.

re: legs being too thin...check out the PS2 background pic. The legs are thin there too...dunno if that means anything...

The classic design of Tetsujin28 is rendered extremely well in the proto. I like the weathered look from the black undercoat. Sweet piece, all around.

I feel my resolve crumbling. I thought I saw a picture of a tiny remote with this figure, but I don't remember if it was here, or at tbdx. It would be consistent with the show. I used to watch Gigantor, on afternoon TV a very long time ago. I think the kid was named Jimmy. Anyway, he always controlled Gigantor with this improbably simple remote control box. Something like that could be easily, and cheaply made. And it would be a perfect gimmick for this SOC. JWM

Soft Garage includes the crude control box with their Tetsujins:

Here's a picture courtesy of www.zincpanic.com of Tetsujin 28 in basically his final form. I'm guessing the larger remote box controls his light up feature.

This pic, with the pole holding him standing, demonstrated what I feared was true.
Zincapanic says Bandai does not trust the tetsujin SOC to stand!!
If this is true , Bandai has to give us a really good base aimed at displaying him in different positions.
Shotaro is very cool, on the other hand, and looks in scale with Yamato's Giant Robo OVA Ginrei. These two bots will definetely display nicely together!

I also agree that Bandai should provide a very good display base and support rod if their T28 will be unstable in a standing position. But if the SOC T28 can kneel, like in the Degenki pics, then I'll pose him as such! ;D
