That's a cool pic - never saw that one before. Makes me realize how scrawny Combattler is... and just how huge Dancougar really is. But Zambot looks like a decent size compared to the others. I should probably get this while I can. It's a little on the expensive side from what I see on ebay though.
As for honourifics: -chan is like saying "my dear." It's used for girls, little-kids, and maybe very close friends. It's implies cuteness.
-san is formal... like "Mister."
-kun would be useful in an informal BBS like Robot-Japan. It's for guys and is like saying "good buddy."

Well I thought I'd use this thread to tell you all that my Zambot 3 (Gx-23) arrived today finally! I gotta tell you despite the mix reviews I heard I actually like this toy. We'll see once I put him together tonight (I received it at work today) if I will like him more or not. So far the SOC line hasn't disappointed me (except for the Evangelions - no offense fans I just don't like them) so I think Zamby's gonna be another keeper.

Out of the 3 choices, definitely a Zambot 3.
Kahen Senshi are cool, but there are so many Gundam incarnations in all shape & sizes, and reviews for them are not too hot. Good toys, but with some issues that kept them from being great.
Yamato 1/48 is cool, and a must have for Macross fans. It is very detailed & pretty for sure, but it is not very solid. Better than the 1/60, as no legs will fall off, & the overall articulation is great. But you have to be very delicate with the toy. Some small parts like the backpack hinges, wings, missile clips..etc all made of very tiny plastic pieces that prones to breakage if not careful. The whole thing is mean to be displayed, not something to be handled very often. It is solid enough to not fall apart, and the most beautiful transformable valk toy money can buy, but not something you can fiddle with very often. With Fast Pack, possibly the new Yamato Valk Stand, the price would go way beyond a Zambot.
SOC kicks ass in build quality. Diecast, nice sculpt, very solid plastic, awesome paint job, well thought out transformation & locking mechanism. There is always some minor issues in every toy, just like in the 1/48 valk & Kahen Senshi as well, but you'll sure get good quality that is hard to beat by any other toy line. My Zambot is still on its way through mail, so can't give you first hand experience. But from all other SOCs I own, you'll get the most toy out of the 3 choices you posted. And something you can play with a lot for sure, without worrying falling apart.

Daikumaryu is okay, but not the best out of the SOC lot. It actually rate among the lowest for some. I only have the older issue, but heard the 'R' is the same, just painted differently. Kind of fun, but Gaiking is very small and the plastic parts(red Counter Cross) comes off all the time. Not a lot of articulation on Gaiking. Daikumaryu is nicely sculpt, heavy, but too heavy for the legs to support, so posing is a pain. The clicking joints on the 2 legs are not strong enough to support the diecast body, making the legs collapse back down very easily on the reversed knee joint. So you are limited to either not bend much of the legs, or bend them all the way in order for the Daikumaryu to stay in a standing pose. The whole thing is very spikey, making it not too great to handle very much. But its solid. Just spikey, with a long plastic tail.
Dancougar is great. Each robot(4 total) is a triple changer, so lots of fun value. The whole thing is solid when combined or separated. More articulated than Zambot, with some serious double + clicking joints on shoulders & elbows. Stands like a brick! With very good weight balance & big feet. If you have the money, you can't go wrong with Big Dan. Only sucky part is the neck. If you just use the Eagle Fighter as the head without any part swap, the head won't be articulated on the neck. If you want a poseable neck joint, you have to remove the 2 tiny arms of the Eagle Fighter to a different position, then add the extra neck piece. But other than the neck, this whole thing is pretty awesome. Not my favorite robot design, mind you, but an awesome toy, and one of the best SOC entry.

Disappointment man! Just received my Zambot 3 today, and was very eager to open it up and enjoy my new expensive SOC. There are lots of parts & accesories, to a point that its a bit too much for me. I ended up just left many of them in box for now and fiddle with the main pieces. Zambo Ace is cool, with great articulation & solidly built. But Zambull is very disappointing. It needs quite a few add on pieces to form this thing, but doesn't even look that great, nor does the plastic tread base attach very solid after handling it for a bit. Zambase is kind of a mix bag. The flippable wings are kind of fragile & can get in the way, and have to add the booster part to it. But it doesn't look too bad, and was quite solid when done assembling. However, here comes the bad part. The quality of this release is really questionable. Just after handling the Zambase & ready to prepare it for gattai for the very first time, 2 of the 4 red tiny missile thing in the front end fell off. Turn out the attachment is very loose, and the glue/paint doesn't hold them no more. Have to use some super glue 5 mins after opening this thing. Then, when I gently take the booster unit off the legs, one of the 4 blue securing tab BROKE! My heart sunk And I have to whip out the crazy glue just another minute later. This is the first SOC, in fact, my first toy that broke right out of the box, as I always handle my collection with care, and almost never break even some of my more fragile ones. Finally get Zambot 3 combined, then realize one of the Grapple handles looked like it was grinded on cement or something, with big scars on both sides of the chrome silver....And some black paint marks on the left red shoulder too. There are other issues like the yellow chest piece for the Ion Cannon has a much shorter connecting tab to the Zambot chest, making it almost impossible to stay on, with the cannon attached. Hands have a hard time holding the weapons, too many small swapping parts for Gattai. Zambot's 2 grey shoulder piece doesn't even secure Zambo Ace when combined. It doesn't lock or anything, but just sits there, making Zambo Ace come off too easily when pulled up slightly. And the weapons needs so many little connectors here & there that are very easy to lose. This is so far the only SOC I've bought that left me more sour taste than excitement...especially with the exchange of a very high price. I really don't mind the less articulated legs, and the articulation on the arms & wrist are great. Zambo Ace & Zambot 3 both look very cool, but having so many part swapping in the Gattai is a bit troublesome. The fragile & movable wings/fins on Zambot 3's legs also made him not so handling friendly. I just left the falling Zambot Busters in the box to have one less headache. If this release is like $100 or so, many of these flaws would seem more acceptable. But since it cost almost twice as much, it really made me feel like I didn't make a very wise purchase. It didn't give the feeling of "worth every penny of it" like my other SOC purchase did. With all that is said, Zambot 3 is still a very cool toy, and a very nice display piece (the more you play with it, the more pieces will fall or break on you) regardless of the unexpected number of flaws I came across. While Zambo Ace really showed some cool toy engineering with the great articulations, transformation & the housing of Zambot's head, the rest of the figure are not so impressive. It may still be a good SOC purchase for some, but it'll probably rank among one of the lowest in my SOC list, due to its many flaws & high price. P.S. The SD Zambot 3 mode with just Zambo Ace legs shortened & with Zambot's head sticking out IS pretty cool. ;D
