It's funny, after 20+ years the original 8" Gakken is still the best version. I wish they would just re-use that with some minor engineering updates and improved facial features.

It was kind of the the same scenario with valks for about..oh, twenty years or so. It only took Yamato about ten years or more to finally make a decent valk. So maybe if we wait another ten years we'll have some new quality ride armor.

Pre-orders are up for the Toynami Beta, honestly I like it better in fighter/combined mode than the CM version and it will probably be larger too. But $80? I thought it would be $150 but if it's true I may stick with Toynami since they might make Beta's from the Shadow Chronicles movie and is way cheaper than the CM version plus I've always been a bigger Robotech fan than Macross one. Now it's just the QC issues.... www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOY10201&mode=retail

Will this Beta be able to combine with my Toynami MP Alpha Fighter?
EDIT: Nevermind, I got my answer. But will the CM's version be better engineered?

That's yet to be seen. I'm more worried that if I go with the Toynami version if there will be re-issues of the Alpha's. I've found one on Ebay and it's selling for $200. I think it was stated that Toynami is waiting for the molds to come back from Aoshima so that could mean their planing to re-issue the Alphas or have a combo pack of the two.

I want to see an early review of Toynami's Beta. I too have been underwhelmed and disappointed with Toynami's QC.

I've seen pics of the Beagle version over at macrossworld.com and it could be the sleekest version yet. Hopefully more pics of it will show up, but so far I still think the MH version is the way to go so far in that it is the most complete line yet.

Will the Beagle version be another parts-former?

Sorry to hijack the conversation from the beta back to the MH cyclones, but I received my Rand from Angolz last week and was quite disturbed to see this sticker on the bottom right corner of the box: This would seem to explain the brittle / easily breakable quality of some of the parts. Had I known that Toynami's grubby hands were somehow involved I definitely would have stayed away (I say this almost assured that I will pickup a Toynami Beta. Hahaha.) Haven't yet had time to open up my MH Cyclone, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I can get thru one transformation without breaking something. Wish me luck.

The Megahouse ride armor seems plenty sturdy. The Toynami connection has strictly to do with US distribution, nothing more. There is no need to panic
