glad this thread is 14pgs long and also SUPER glad i didn't preorder either the CMs or MH armors. They both look like $20 pieces of junk- model kit plastic for $60+? Poor fit? for as much as you're paying for these, i'd just save my money and buy a vintage Gakken set. Its RIDICULOUS that you're picking between the lesser of two evils (or, which one sucks the least)- why not just use your dollars more intelligently, and show those who do you wrong that you won't buy overpriced garbage by not buying them at all.
by buying either of these toys, you're yet again showing toy companies that they can package a bad model kit, make it as cheap as possible, charge as much as possible, and that we as Mospeada fans will take whatever dog food is thrown at us.
#1- for $60+, out of the box, you shouldn't have to glue ANYthing back on!!! it shouldn't be broken or missing pieces right out of the box. You should be able to at least have the shame of breaking it yourself!! No excuse.
#2- for $60+, parts shouldn't fly off or break or split while you transform it, following instructions. No excuse.
#3- for $60+, there shouldn't be paint problems. No excuse.
#4- for $60+, it shouldn't be made of model kit plastic. Not a drop of that stuff should be there. Quality plastic and/or diecast, please. No excuse.
if it was a $5 Star Wars figure, then these gripes would be understandable. It's not. It's $60, which your giving to them, its not like they're selling you a car or food or a house or some other neccessary part of life, it is only a toy. But its a $60 toy, and I think in our excitement as fans we get pumped that something from a 20+ year old obscure show is coming out. But i'd rather have nothing, than tears of disapointment, a busted robot, and an empty wallet. These problems are fine if its a $5 toy, but not for $60. When you buy products like this, ones you *know* have big QC problems and defects, and you buy it anyway, you're basically telling the company that it's OK for them to rip you off. It says to them that you don't care what they sell you, you'll buy anything, even if it's broken or doesn't look right. And of course guys like Toynami will keep giving you what you paid $80 for last time: A robot from your favorite show that's really expensive, and not well made. I can picture the Toynami board room right now, the execs saying: "Who cares? they bought it last time, why should we make it better? Let's go play golf and buy some expensive cars. hahaha."
The best thing you can do is spend that money on something else, and fight the urge to splurge. Don't give MH or anybody else money for sub-par products.
Lastly, if Toynami's "waiting for the molds to come back" then i'd yet again avoid that Alpha- it was 100% trash. They're going to re-do it, and it'll still be trash.
