yeah! i hope the next PG would be from the UC series/timeline, say like gp-02. speaking of perfect grades, do you know the largest and most detailed plastic model kit in Bandai's history??? 825 total pieces, secured by 50 plus metal screws. whew! (picture borrowed, but i'm getting this baby, if i could find one)

MannyD: The Zeta is a great experience to build. It's tons of work, and a boatload of fun, but the finished figure leaves a lot to be desired. You can get it into those cool poses but it won't hold them for very long. If the figure leans forward or backward then it will slowly start to bend at the hip joints over a few days, and you'll come in one morning and find it on the floor. Similarly, the shoulder joints will not support the beam rifle. The tab that holds the shield onto the forearm is inadequate, the backpack doesn't stay put for beans, and it's a major hassle to get to the light switch in the head. If you're lucky the wing tip lights will work for a while, but then they'll crap out for no apparent reason. Trust me, you aren't going to want to disassemble the wings to try to fix it. Transforming it into Wave Rider mode is no picnic either. It isn't a toy, and it doesn't have toy like playability. Chances are you won't do it more than once. It's just too much trouble. If you're just in it for the build, you'll have a blast. But if you're looking for a cool piece, buy something else with your money. Oh, and don't be fooled by the picture. The lights in the head and eyes are very faint. They don't shine like that in real life. The electric beam saber is the coolest thing about the kit.

The PG Zeta isn't Bandai's biggest plastic kit though, nor their most detailed. yeah! hehe that's what i read from somewhere. probably the biggest and most detailed due to the sheer number of parts. do you know any other model kit done by bandai having more than 825 pieces? ;D

jwm: tnx for the heads up bro. i'm getting my PG zeta next week, i'm really looking forward to it. hope it does not give me much grief. and i'll see what i can do with those loose joints.

MannyD: Hope I didn't bum you out on the Zeta. You're in for some very serious fun building that bad boy.
For the ball and socket joints on the shoulder, try painting the male half of the joint with either super glue, or some clear nail polish. Same with the hips. The knee joints are fine.I think it was Bleen who came up with the next suggestion. When you are doing the wiring for the wings try putting a small piece of aluminum foil in the socket where you'll be screwing the wire into place. You will know exactly what I mean when you get to that step. Remember- one of the wing tip lights is green and the other is red. You'll have to pay very close attention there. Have fun!

So these things are just scaled up MG kits with better detail and articulation? I would have thought that because of their size they would have ratchet joints or somthing just to help with all that weight.

There's also the 1/12 zaku and the upcoming 1/12 gundam. As for most detailed though, there are MGs that are more detailed than the PG zeta- the version ka. Ball for example. Drastically smaller of course, but more detailed both externally and internally. Going by part-count, the PG GP01fb definately has more parts. You read that at HLJ didn't you? It was probably true when they wrote it, but a lot has changed in the years since then. wow! a 1/12 zaku and 1/12 gundam "model kits" hehe. i like to see the size of the box, and the number of runners and parts hehe. FG, Fantastic Grade! ;D

JWM JWM: yeah, tnx bro. i'll keep these tips in mind, specially the one with the wiring. got my PG zeta already, i'm very happy with it. i was nervous at first when checking the non plastic parts (screws, wires, springs, small metal parts, etc), see if they are complete hehe. bandai did a great job in packing them separately with numbers, which makes it easier to check them. the runners are easy to check. anyways, i'll take my time in building this baby. and no, i will not paint it. the molded in color is nice. the white is definitely white, not off white or dirty white. to compare PG zeta with it's MG and HG counterparts: borrowed this picture from dalong.net, i love this site. made me decide to get the PG zeta

MannyD. I envy you the task you're about to begin. The Zeta was my first PG kit. Finishing that thing felt like as big an accomplishment as getting an A in college algebra. Keep us posted.

The Zeta is a nice kit... I liked the Strike and the MKII way more though... the Zeta's sculpt isn't as nice (few, very few panel lines, which make it look a little dull). The transformation make it poor for posing (not like the MKII and the Strike), but it's a very, VERY complex build (I just love that). Good luck with the electronics though... I used tin foil and all, but eventually the wing lights also died out oh well, I never turn them on anyways... But I have to disagree with JWM on the transformation -- it's complex, but very fun! :-D (I'm a fan of transforming stuff --- when it's well done). You're in for a LOT of fun! And whatever you do -- if you'll be buying other PGs, do NOT buy the Wing Zero! :-(

jwm, gud am bro. this Zeta is also my first PG model . i was gundam-free for 11 years, it's like going back to my roots hehe. i was choosing between the kado senshi, MSIA/EMSIA, and model kits (MG, HGUC or PG). i was streamlining so i need to collect just 1 line, and i need the main robots only. so after seeing the PGs in dalong site, PG gundams is the way to go for me. yeah they have no diecast, the only diecast parts in the zeta PG are the landing gears hehe. but the level of engineering, quality of plastic, and gimmicks is already satisfying for me. in my eyes, they are works of art hehe.

Ahh, those pictures bring back memories. I bought mine from a boutique shop in Orange County, CA. - the only place I knew of then, that had Gundam models or any anime related stuff at all. I got totally ripped off on the puchase- over $240.00. I wasn't aware of on-line buying at the time. But I remember getting that thing home, and just feeling totally intimidated. Like I had bitten off way more than I could chew. That's one experience I wish I could put on re-play somehow- like riding the first wave, or the first time you get on a 'big' motorcycle. Scary at first, but then fun fun fun. JWM

jwm: i'm very happy, i think we share the same feelings and enthusiasm for gundam model kits bro. i haven't touch any gundam model kit for 11 years. it's like meeting a friend i hadn't seen in 11 years hehe. btw, i've seen these 1/60 Hyper Hybrid Model kits in dalong's site (same scale as PG): MS-09R Rick-Dom MS-07B Gouf i think they have minimal internal frame, but the lighting system is improved. very very nice pieces too
