This is awesome! tamashiiweb.com/item/14903/?wovn=enI think I'm more interested in the inevitable 1975 version, but this could be my first DX. Check out those knee joints (among many other things . . .)

It's probably a good idea not to just yank the hands out of the wrist when swapping them around. Use a fingernail from one hand to hold that dark grey sleeve in place while you ease the fist off with your other hand. That little dark grey sleeve that the pegs from the hands plug into is kept in place with a much smaller peg that seats in the inner side wall of the wrist. Mine is already showing stress.
Aside from that, this thing is all gravy. Mine arrived about a week ago. Very fun.

2023 was my Year of the Zoids. (picture a stylized rabbit with zoid polycaps)
I grabbed all the zoids I've ever been interested in. They're all 80's designs, and probably almost half of them are repeats or recolors.
I still have a few small customizations to complete. And an entire original release Gojulas that I haven't even begun to restore. Likely it'll be a few months before I have time to finish everything and take pics, but I'll post here when I do.
till later . . .

This scratches an itch I didn't know I had.
First time I've been interested in an anime repaint, but to my eyes, it looks way better than the "normal" colorway on Grendy. (And will have the side benefit of making Grendy stand apart from my vanilla Maz and Great, which makes more sense to me.)
I grabbed one at Big in Japan.

Yeah, its a Scottish Fold, color very close to yours. He is a fun one. Yamato made a pretty decent Ideon figure. All plastic and pretty old, but it can do some nice dynamic poses and has a pretty plain anime look. I like it quite a bit back then. www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/2004/space_runaway_ideonI remember that figure. Passed on it because the sculpt and colors looked a bit off to me, but I might give it another look sometime.
My Kaiyodo "Sofubi Toy Box" Ideon arrived today. The quality is a bit underwhelming. The legs and foot cleavers are a bit warped, and the paint could use some touch-ups here and there. And the Ideo-gauges have an extra line painted on them, making them symmetrical and glaringly inaccurate.
That said, I really dig it. The sculpt and pose are wonderfully evocative of the Ideon that lives in my mind's eye. . . . And after the Soul of Chogokin had all the bells and whistles but turned into a useless rag-doll, it's strangely satisfying to have a simplistic Ideon that looks good from a short distance away and would hold a pose even if I grabbed it by the leg and waved it around with wild abandon.

Has Bandai close "the strange gap" on Doublas' bottom of his "underwear?" (Thanks in advance) I don't see any gap or other weirdness there. But now that I think about it, isn't it the same waist parts that are used on GX-01 anyhow?

The one I remember right off is that they included nicer looking versions of Doublas' necks. I think the spikes on its legs are molded cleaner with less flash as well, but I never had the original. Just going by pics I've seen. I don't remember any strange gaps in Doublas' undies; I'll dig him out and give him an inappropriate inspection a little later. :)

1) Kaiyodo's Mega Sofubi Gunbuster.
This thing is glorious. 60 cm tall, satisfyingly heavy and solid, and the colors and sculpt are entrancingly accurate to the source material. Feels kinda magical having a huge anime-styled Gunbuster that I can reach out and touch. I'm still smiling like a goofy kid every time I see it on my shelf.
2) Bandai's GX-10R Boss Borot.
Just a repaint with modest changes, but such a great toy nonetheless.
3) Bandai's Robot Damashii 15th Anniversary Gundam ver. ANIME.
Another repaint/remold. I stayed away from this mold until this year. There were always several things about the sculpt and colors that didn't look right. Finally, this time, they packaged all the right mold tweaks and corrected colors in one package. Turns out to be an eminently satisfying toy in hand. Easily does all the classic poses. And unlike most RDs, the QC is great; no sprue-marks or paint issues. Between this thing and the retro GA-100, I've got all the grandaddy Gundam I need.
4) Bandai's GX-25R Garada K-7 & GX-26R Doublas M-2.
Two great, solid, classic toys released with some mold improvements and in colors I really dig. A simple but flawless release.

My Boss arrived from Eknight on Saturday. Such a fun piece. It's the first time I've owned the mold, and it's wonderfully heavy, solid, expressive, and charming. The ratchets in the waist and shoulders are firm and satisfying with just the right amount of resistance. It feels a few steps more polished and impressive than any of my other Mazinger related SOCs. Really happy to finally have this guy.

Whoa! That kitty has familiar coloration :D
Cute pic. Is your cat a Scottish Fold?
I'm not a fan of the extraneous panel lines on that Ideon. But even so, and even including its other faults, it's a really impressive piece. Suitable for an Ide worshiping shrine. :) And extra awesome for being in scale with so much other stuff.
I just recently ordered Kaiyodo's (much smaller) 20 cm Ideon sofubi. I'm desperate for a relatively anime accurate Ideon that can stand on its own, and it's fairly cheap. Can't hurt to give it a shot.

I was thinking of your Ideon when I ordered this thing, but I figured that between Gunbuster's stove-pipe design and Kaiyodo's history with the bot, it would likely turn out okay. Plus, from looking at reviews it seems that their MegaSofvi Evangelion turned out really nice. Judging by the weight and the feel, the pvc is pretty thick. And the legs can rotate a bit at the knee, which, because of the A-stance, has the helpful side effect of letting you smoothly fine-tune how much the figure leans forward or back. Quick pic:
(I swear, someday I'll find a camera so good that it can make up for my utter lack of photog skills.)

My full-color Gunbuster arrived today. Pics (with cat for scale) to follow at a later date, but for now, Holy crap I love this thing!
60 cm. Aside from a small scratch in the orange paint on the left arm, (super easy to fix), it looks flawless. It's my first large-scale sofubi and it's way more solid and heavy than I was expecting. And, ye gods, SO Much Shelf Presence.
I mean, I haven't actually set up a shelf it will fit on yet, but it's super impressive. Can't look at it without hearing the dramatic drum music that introduced it when it first emerged from the Exelion.
Cheers!

Yeah. Personally, I'd still prefer to see a new version of the TV Dunbine with better engineering and more accurate colors. But I've got enough history with this version of the design that I'm not gonna pass it by. I doubt we'll see more than the Dunbine released in this style. Maybe the Billbine. But the I think the Dunbine is the only battler I've seen rendered entirely and repeatedly in that specific ornate style. (Though I can't seem to find most of that art now . . . The ones used for the DVDs is mostly all I can find. Curious if anyone has a better source for it. I'm pretty sure there's a bunch of it in a vintage art book somewhere . . . Or maybe it's from old manga covers?)

Zeta ver. ANIME suits are beginning to drop. Your wallet will see the tears of time. I'm digging how it turned out. I wasn't expecting to want the RD Mk II, but it looks sufficiently old-school to grab my attention.

I'll wait and see when I get it in hand, but man, I've not been liking the pics of Aphrodai that I've been seeing. Look at how yellow it looks compared to the pic on the box. It was that warm orange color that sold me in the first place.
