Looking at the specs for Combattler I noticed that this takes two AA batteries probably for the base but TWELVE LR41's! I'm wondering if each Battle Machine has a light up function or something???

tamashii.jp/special/com_battler_v/Damn I want this!!!! The price hike is understandable, it's not like Mazinger and Great which were basically just giant action figures that had removable plates. Engineering wise they were simple, it was the mechanical detail tooling and painting which was expensive. But for Combattler there are probably three times as many parts to it compared to the previous releases plus it's bigger. I don't own any DX SOC and wish I did especially now since Combattler is my favorite classic combiner bar none plus we all know who will be next!!!

Granted GX-13 is a dated design but it is a classic. I remember when it first came out it was spectacular, it has aged pretty well IMHO. Also we have to remember these are re-issues to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the SOC line. It's like being able to buy a brand new 69' Camaro from the factory today with all it's "quirks" but with modern tires. I'm pretty sure if Bandai wanted to they could design a new Dancouga that would blow the pants of the Sentinel version, but that's not the point of these RE-ISSUES.

It's almost 4" taller then the DX Mazinger, impressive. Not sure about the price though but if you have the money and love Mazinger this could be for you.

That's Combattler V and it looks like a custom figure.

Hey bader how does that weight compare to Voltron? I believe Voltron is just over 1400grams.

I believe that this figure is a landmark in the SOC line in that it may be the very first "American" designed robot in the line. Granted a lot of North America designed movie robots need a lot to be desired but this cold open up to other designs being considered.

Pacific Rim was actually way more successful in China with the sequel being mainly made because of a Chinese company. So this figure will have huge potential on both sides of the world.

I'm guessing the set of three comes with all the parts to create the combined mode or the separate one since I'm pretty sure this will be a partsformer like a Evolution product. The single combined one probably just lacks the extra pieces to create all three individual ones. Fewture is not known as a company that designs complex transformations/combinations for this line like a SOC or Sentinel product (see Grendizer), their more known for their design language for this line.

I owned the MF GGGG, Mazinkaiser, and Godannar and by far the best figure out of the three was Godannar. Mazinkaiser was pretty decent but I did end up breaking a couple things while GGGG was junk. If you look closely at the picture I took you can see that the teeth for Galion on the MF version broke off leaving a toothless Galion on GGGG which pretty much sums up that figure.
Didn't own Big-O but from what I hear it's a very good figure.
