The perfect SOC Mazinger Z would be a GX-01R+, with the forearms, lower legs, and all the accessories of the GX-01R, and the Jet Pilder of the GX-01 (which was actually included as part of the GX-02 Great Mazinger). What on earth are you talking about? 1) Wouldn't GX-01R+ with the lower legs and forearms of GX-01R just make it GX-01R? 2) The Jet Pilder was included with the GX-01R. It just sounds like you've described the GX-01R to me GX-01R+ has a different head sculpt and no chrome then GX-01R.

Mandy has like five GX-01R+ at least and they're usually around 24k yen - so you can def. pick one from there for under 300, even with shipping.

It still sounds to me like you just described the original GX-01, which like the 01R+, also had silver thighs and upper arms, but with the dark blue lower legs and forearms. Except with the not-ugly missile launcher. There's too many bloody variants of GX-01. And what's the deal with the Jet Pilder now?

Wait a minute? Are we going to have another SOC Mazinger? That's GREAT!! I just hope Bandai will include all the improvements achieved in the SRC line, but with more metal an a bigger size.
Just reading againg these thread, and although I was fan of GX-01R+, after reading the analysis of "El Gladiador" I think I'm on his side. The pictures of GX-45 (both with and without escrander) speak for themselves.

First off, no, the GX-01 does NOT have silver biceps, and the thighs were plastic and had a different scuplt that the "R" version. Second, the GX-01 is shorter than the "R" version. Third, the Jet-Pileder on the "R" version is way too big and not conpatible with the "R+" version. It is even too big for the "R" version. All I'm saying is that you are going to question my replies, you do a little research before you do. I have no problems to be corrected, but it has to be with accurate info. Peace! }D

So the original version of GX-01 didn't come with a Jet Pilder, so one was included with GX-02 instead, and this was changed with the R versions? I wonder if the GX-01R+ reissue is gonna include the missing accessories too or if it's gonna be a straight reissue.

Something to clarify, while some say that Gx-45 is small compare to the rest of the GX-01's versions, in reality his in more scale that any of them for reasons that his is suppose to be smaller than Great Mazinger considerably. Interesting fact, there has been no actual Mazinger Z figure base of his 18m version in size (scale size, not color or accessories wise), its always been made in same size to great mazinger or just been a tiny bit shorter. Now depending in the anime interpretation size is as follow
-Toie series- -Mazinger Z:18m -Power Up Mazinger Z: 20m -Great Mazinger: 25m
-Mazinakaiser OVA- -Mazinger Z:18m -Proto Great Mazinger: 20.5m -Shin Great Mazinger: stated to be much bigger than the prototype, I assume his perhaps around 21 to 22m
-Shin Mazinger Z-Impact- -Mazinger Z: 18m
so SoC aspect, the GX-45 Shin Mazinger Z is in correct scale to be the interpretation to his 18m days while any of the GX-01R does the job in representing him in his power up form been at 20m.now depending how you wish to interpret Great Mazinger to go with mazinger Z scale wise is up to you.

Silly man, scales are for real robots No seriously. Scale regarding super robots has always been dubious as hell. Not only because anime/manga rarely bother following them, but because most of the time the values are just pulled out of the writer's butt. It's kinda like Danguard Ace is supposed to be gigantic, but at the scale given by the actual stats, the cockpit of the Guard Launcher would be so big that the entire Mazinger Z could fit inside it when it's clearly no bigger than that of your average passenger plane. It's just another case of sci-fi writers having no sense of scale. My advice is to just disregard the given values and go with how they're actually shown in the related media.

Scale, schmale... Anyway, I like to get the 01R+. Other than the 45, I only have the 01B. Never liked the faces on 01, 01R, and 07.

Actually, the face sculpt of GX-01 and GX-01R+ is quite similar, the only difference is that the latter is molded in one piece, making it look much much better than the GX-01's multi-part head sculpt, not to mention the ugly gap between the "cheek" and "mouthpiece". Check out the box art from GX-01 below, classic case of false advertising I was a bit disappointed when I first got my GX-01 because of this boxart, Maz had a dislocated jaw right out of the box, unlike the perfect headsculpt as shown in the pic.

I honestly can't remember if GX-01R or GX-57 was my first SoC, but considering what the GX-57 was, GX-01R would be the first "true" SoC I ever got...
...it's been a downwards spiral ever since.
(for my budget, that is)
