Great for those who want it, but the overall look is too boxy and plain for my tastes. Then again, I'm not sure what else a space winnebago would look like . It's impressive how "rounded" the transformed rodimus figure looks considering all those hard, straight lines on his alt mode, though. I'll be contented with my Fansproject Rodimus armor

the way they made his chest looks as if he has a love handles and small pecs. I dont like his shoulder joint exposed as that. and the face seems too long face and he doesn't look intimidating to kick galvatron's butt like in the movie. But its more like season 4 rodimus. i would have prefered hotrod over rodimus. although its really the designer of the movie's fault for giving him megatron's face lines to make him look older.
regardless i would end up getting him still.

Whats up with the 200 dollar price point? thats kinda rough on the wallet.
I too would rather have Hotrod, I never really liked Rodimus. I'll probably break down and get it but I really hope I dont have to spend 200 dollars to get him.

I'll probably wait for Angolz to get this, I'm gonna get the Ghost Starscream from them since they have it listed for only $95 which is the cheapest I've seen by far. So I can see them having Rodimus in the $150 price range since they also have Daitarn listed at around $155 and that was a $200+ toy.
Also on a side note a lot of the pics taken of Rodimus was posted on the igear Facebook page so I'm wondering if they have any plans for the upcoming MP Rodimus. Maybe they'll make a Hot Rod or an accessorie pack for it.

I might consider when hasbro do it for 60. 200 is crazy expensive, and he better be the same size as Prime for that kind of money. Fansproject version for me instead of this.

I think the rumoured "$200" is from the placeholder that BBTS put up for their pre-order page... Anyway, I like him except for the trailer... which further reminds me - did we ever see the trailer in the animated show? I seem to recall Rodimus Prime was the ultimate in anime-magic transformation (when the Matrix upgraded him from his Hot Rod form. But seriously... I seem to recall in the movie that the trailer came out of "subspace" just like Optimus Prime's trailer did... but at least Optimus Prime's trailer is definitely G1 canon since it opened up and revealed Roller in the first episodes... fans are right to want a MP-04. ...but is Hasbro/Takara right to produce a G1 Rodimus Prime trailer? Hmm...

Seems like I remember seeing Rodimus (Hot Rod really) leave the trailer when he had the matrix stolen from him in one episode. Other than that, I cannot remember him using it. However, I don't think Rodimus' alt mode would look proper unless it had a trailer of some kind. So, I dont think it is really much of an option. Gotta have something to make him a winnebago and not just a streatched car.

Come on, you're on Robot Japan, a site where $200+ toys are super common. If you want the Hasbro, it probably won't be until mid to late 2012 since next year will be all about movie 3 toys.

Grimlock has diecast, not like Prime but more than Megatron and about the same as the Seekers.

You're right. What I mean is diecast like Prime does or the old toys did.

People seem have a distorted souvenir of the die-cast content in G1 toys. It was usually very minimal; toes or a chest, that's about it.

Yeah, $200 toys are common, but just not for this one. Considering, I paid 80$ for the MP1, so what if it wasn't new, 80 is what I paid for it. Megatron, got it new it was only 120$ with shipping from betatoys. Starscream I got from HLJ and I remember paying around $130 for it after shipping. When Grimlock came out, I refuse to pay the high premium. Even when Angolz drop the price to around 120$ before shipping, I didn't bite. And now, it's 69.99 at the store or 59.99 if you order it. The fascination with die cast content is funny to me. MP1 has lots of die cast. But every other MP release up to this point has very little. And I don't expect this Rodimus to have that much more than those. Takara can prove me wrong and make it with as much as Optimus Prime, but that's highly unlikely. Pascal is right. G1 figures from the past has very little die cast part. I think this misunderstanding comes from what most of us remember as kids. Look, if you can't afford to get the real one, just pick up a couple of the reissues, and you'll realized that G1 figures are mostly plastic.

Lack of metal in the MP series doesn't really bother me. IMO the use of metal really shines when you use it on smaller figures like BTs, smaller gokins and even good old G1. It gives smaller bots a heftier feel, and beefier MPs already feel rock-solid even when they're just loaded with plastic.
I don't mind paying $200 for an MP Rodimus as long as it lives up to the price tag. From what we've seen so far, this one doesn't.
