It is.
The question is, how much longer will it hold up, and is there anything I can do to fix it? It doesn't even look like it's just cracked, it looks like there's a whole chunk missing.

It doesn't even look like it's just cracked, it looks like there's a whole chunk missing. I could tell it was ideon. You'd be surprised. Sometimes "ring" joints (which we will call them for the moment) will actually break from too much tension/pressure and spread. This is due to the joint molding incorrectly or the rivet being just a hair too big accidentally, etc. That break looks too clean to be missing a chunk. I bet it split and spread.

Wow. Knock on wood, no issues here - East Coast
My Transformers from the early 80s are hanging in there nicely. Due the age and play, those are the ones I would expect to break on me.

Not much can be done about these issues. The First SOCs are quickly becoming the new "vintage" figures. Hopefully someone will start making repro-parts for them. }D Or someone could do a 3d print of the parts.....i would like to expirment on the concept but my 3d skills are still at amateur level stage

These gokins are trophy wives, al primed up in nice glass cases, a bit of humidity or heat and crap happens.. I started checking the tread wheels of my getter and they are starting to crack. I have hot wheels tanks with better treads and a lot more mileage. Im thinking many of them are not going to pass the test of time. Do you guys think this will happen also to the SRC line?

Good one Baron! I ordered the einszett just now. I have not been able to check any of my figures with rubber threads or wheels, but it will be nice to have anyway. That way I'll have it handy and ready to use by the time I am actually able to inspect my figures. }D

Mine: MF GGGG - Broken at both hips and both arms. Feet are badly cracked. GX-13 Dancouga - Sword tarnish. The part of the eagle's wing that folds in to form Dancouga's head is broken at the hinge. Seems like the joint dried up cos it hasn't been moved for a long time and it broke when I did my video review. Not a big issue as it still stays in place pretty well. . How to repair eagle's wing? I have the same problem....

Other than the dreaded Ideon shoulder, I also find more and more white SOC's parts are starting to yellow now.

If there is one SOC that I want to Hate: it's the GX-49 Shin Skaz God Scrander Big Bang Punch wackjob version. Yeah, That one. The one that pretends to be a "Haz-brah Transformer" by tucking itself inside its wings to become a giant Rocket Punch Fist. I don't hate the GX-49 that I own, because it was a gift to me early last summer from a fellow RJer. But, in the SOC toy line, I like the GX-45 much better, like the one Baron painted. And I like the Shin Mazinger anime and robot. So these are not the problem with me. I just have grown to hate the actual GX-49 Itself. Already the neck is loosey loose, as in Flopping back-n-forth. I gotta think of something to make his neck stiff again.
For now, I stuffed a small torn sheet of paper inside his chest. But that still won't help keep his neck steady... I think I'll try stuffing some soft black spongy foam inside his chest, and that should help.My other complaints about this SOC: Can't pose it for sh*t! Yeah, right- "Action figure" my spic hairy derrier! It's more designed to act as a statue made to become a giant fist. The God Scrander with the fingers all over it has got to be the most stoOopidest concept Nagai ever came up with, let alone that whole getup turning into a fist. That's okay, I can copy all those plastic fingers and joints to make robot limbs for my custom enemy robots... there's plenty of fingers to try. zozo-mag

Never got this SOc,I have 2 of the SRC though.i agree on the design Magengar, its odd. Yeah... the GX-49 is designed more for the ability to tuck inside itself for the Big Bang Punch feature with the wings; while the GX-45 is the same figure, but designed for posing as an action-figure. That's why Bandai made two Shin Mazinger versions in the SOC line. You did good getting the SRC Shin Mazingers, because we all know Shin Mazinger can do his Big Bang Punch thing-- but we also wanna pose it as an action-figure rather than just have it stand there. So the "Tuck In" ability was sacrificed on the SRC Shin Maz figures. The SRC Shin Maz would have cost more if the Big Bang Punch features had been included, plus all those extra fingers, inside a bigger packaging. I guess Bandai wanted to keep the small packaging under control for the SRC line somewhat. Plus, having the SRC Shin Maz figure tuck in on itself would also have cost some pose-ability and inner body cavity, trying to work the SOC's effect on a smaller scale figure. zozo-mag

The plastic joint that connects the lower torso and legs of my old GX-01R has cracked. I'm pissed since this was my first Mazinger Z figure and SOC that I bought. I'm gonna make a replacement part for it when I get the time. I might even try to do a restoration since it looks a bit worn.

Nothing hurts like your first SOC experiencing some type of breakage. Goes to show you how those early SOCs are starting to show their age.
