I’m actually a little disappointed that they used the SOC name and numbering for these. I mean don’t get me wrong, they look gorgeous and I will get them. But the lack of transformation seems a letdown for the SOC labeling.

Ah, on my Birthday month. Can I preorder in BBTS?

Yeah I don’t like that F.A is using SoC numbering scheme either. That means Bandai won’t be getting my money for the next 5 releases. 😀 I might be Bandai free for rest of the year. My money will be going to other companies instead.

Ah, on my Birthday month. Can I preorder in BBTS? This should definitely be available at the BBTS. So, your birthday will be even happier!

My money will be going to other companies instead. Oh I’m not going that far! My real introduction to Gokin was Mattel’s Shogun Warriors line and Marvel’s short lived comic of them. No way I’m turning down the chance to finally get the main Shogun lineup at the same scale and style. (Sigh, still missing Danguard Ace though...) I just wish they gave them their own numbering scheme.

Hmmm this is a surprise that Bandai's just dropping the FA into the GX catalog.

Part of me is fine with it since I usually combine them and leave them. If this is more stable and awesome then I could see being fine.

SRP - 15,120 Yen Meaning with JP based retailers - your looking at 13,000 yen or even 11,000 yen

What does FA means, and how it compares to GX-31V?

What does FA means, and how it compares to GX-31V? FA stand for Full action it doesn't compare to the GX-31V, its non combiner with better articulation

i agree with faelon this shouldn't be in the SOC line, its like if they included the SRC line to the SOC line but again Bandai did included battle ships into the SOC line before the price of 15121 Yen and it could be even cheaper with the preorder discount is good, not great because i was hoping it will be around a $100 and why the started with Voltes, i was hoping for Daimos

i agree with faelon this shouldn't be in the SOC line, its like if they included the SRC line to the SOC line I don't think that's an accurate parallel. With SRCs, even the larger ones, as great as they may be, there's a noticeable difference : they're nice, but they're definitely not SOCs. That one is very much worthy of being a SOC in size, quality and, I presume, heft. If Voltes was not a combiner in the show, nobody would be batting an eye here now. But that's the problem : it IS a combiner AND all combiners that were physically possible to be made as combining figures with source-accurate looks — so, ignore the Getters here — were done as such in the SOC line. Plus there's the fact that Voltes, in particular, has already been done as a SOC combiner. Personally, I'm not a completionist, so I don't really care what label they chose to slap on the box, but the SOC sub-line route, with different numbering, made more sense to be. But I suppose Bandai's marketing department viewed things differently. Unfortunately, there's probably more money to be made by integrating this figure into the main line. You know there are people who would have skipped it who will jump on a preorder now that it's a "royal blood" SOC. It's the same d**n figure, but now it's worthy. They might whine, they might b*tch, but they will pay. Whereas those who were set on buying it when it was in a subline who are scandalized enough by the move to the main line to decide to skip it are probably a very small minority. TLDR : SRCs are not SOCs. This is worthy of being called a SOC, though it shouldn't be...

Sayyyyy... what's your prediction on the impact these figures (SOC-FA Voltes and Combattler) will have on the resale value of the SOC combiners Voltes and Combattler? I know they're not combiners, so they wouldn't have as much an impact than if they were a new combining version (like the GX-50 totally murdered the old GX-03's resale value), but I do fear it could hurt them a bit. Unless it has the totally opposite effect of making more people want a combiner version...
I was considering selling my GX-31 (that was already affected by the release of the GX-31V, but still held up) and GX-50, but I'm seriously hesitating now.
That... and I'm very tempted to keep them just to display them in their vehicles form with the FA version as the combined form in the back.
...
Have I already said this? I think I did... eh... I'm getting old...

The price is fine by me! It doesn't hurt to have it released as a numbered GX, there has been a lot of variation to the releases lately; like larger pieces (71,72,) some with traditional SoC bases, some without, battleships, Jaegers, just a lot of SoC releases that don't fit scale and format of the "traditional" Soul of Chogokin.

I own or did own all the SOC combiners you could get, I understand the satisfaction of having a well engineered toy that combines and the feeling of assembling them together for the first time is amazing. But honestly for me after the first half dozen times of taking them apart and combining them they stay in combined mode on my shelf, these figures will not get you that satisfaction of combining or transforming them but more than make up for it with the ability to make poses like the anime.
As for effecting prices of the previous combiners we will just have to wait and see what fans truly like in the end.

Bandai can do 'full action' AND transformable/combining in the same toy. They've done it before. Daimos is the prime example. This is pretty and I'm always supportive of Voltes toys in any form, but it's not especially interesting to me.
