Wow! This could be THE definitive interpretation of Mazinkaiser. The detailing is amazing from the pictures, just look at the gold details around the shoulders, just beautiful.

I just need to post again because I'm still amazed by how great-looking this thing came out. I never contemplated buying a duplicate of any toy EVER, but wow, this thing is beautiful enough to be the exception to the rule. I really, really hope people don't skip out on this because they already have an Aoshima Mazinkaiser. I know how well-loved that piece is around here (I'm actually one of the few that is rather off-put by it, even though I enjoyed the OVA), but I think this version flat-out destroys it in terms of looks and accessories. Time will tell whether or not it'll have a satisfying heft to it and whether or not it'll hold up in the play department, but I have resounding confidence that it'll deliver on those fronts.

By the way Chen, nice job pimping it over at toyboxdx. It saves me the trouble of having to do so.

Yeah, and no one outside of us really seems to be excited about it on this board either. It's all good though; everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Reception on toysdaily and an Italian board I check out every so often seems to be good though, and I think there'll be more converts here and at toyboxdx once people's personal pictures of their Mazinkaisers start circulating. I think it looks incredible, and in the end, that's all that really matters to me.

Hey, I am all into this toy. But I am just waiting like you people: the release date is still plenty far away whereas my Gaiking might appear at any moment.
I might buy 2-3 of these Mazinkaiser's if they are really cool. I keep thinking of customizing one. At near $100 USD, I might consider customizing one. What's the best price found for the pre-orders so far?

The best price was a pre-order at bcbcomics, which is long done. I pre-ordered mine at circlered.com for $100, but they're not taking anymore pre-orders either. The MSRP through Diamond is $125 I think, so you can try ordering it through your local comic shop if you can't find an on-line retailer with a lower price.

Hi guys!
I too prefer this model of Mazinkaiser rather than Aoshima one. Do you guys know any place that I can still pre-order the US edition, at a good price.
I only found Anime International but I can't order from them (don't know why) and they didn't reply to email, to I don't want a shop where the customer is left behind.
Thanks

Ebay would be your best bet or stores like www.bigbadtoystore.com but they haven't got a pre-order up yet. Or if you live near a reputable comic book store they can order one for you, the Mazinkaiser order was in the April issue of Previews so all you need is to find the order number.

WOW but how come those elbows are so long?

ahhh.. the elbows and knees joints are a big disappointment in design wise. A big turn-off and looking kind of lame on those two parts And why is the thigh chromed and not painted in sliver like the upper arms, it doesn't match. I guess they really can't decide which color paint to go for because on Max's web site there's two different type of paint job, one chromed and one painted in silver. Still think Aoshima's Mazinkaiser is better looking

Man, they did screw this thing up from what was looking so good in the early prototype pics. The gold joints look horrible and what they heck happened to the elbows? And those stupid, stupid, stupid chrome thighs........AAAAHHHHHHAAAAAHHHH!!!! Either make it all chrome for the silver parts or metallic. Mixing them makes this toy look so cheap it boggles the mind. This is the first MaxFactory figure I'm going to have to pass on. And that's a shame too.

I have a feeling that the elbows push in and pull out like the Aoshima. Push in (shorter) for the arms down look and pull out to bend the elbows.
What do you guys think?
The non-matching chrome thighs/arms does bug me a bit.

Man, you guys are on crack! I love the way that it looks and I agree with dme30 that the elbow design is probably like the Aoshima version. Jusdging by the pics it will be quite a bit smaller than the Aoshima version but a little better scale with the SOC Maz's and Great Maz's. I do agree that the thighs are a little weird but all it would take is a little scuffing and paint and problem solved. But I do hope they fixed that tight joint problem.
