(fig. 1)
Da BOX:
Yes...Da BOX: Bandai Knows how to illustrate their toys So Damn Well!
(fig.1)
Da FRONT side (aka "YOU" side) shows the toy in action. Complete with
dynamic Japanese text and graphics; the only English text is Bandai's
toyline trademark "Soul Of Chogokin", and "GX-01R MAZINGER-Z".
Da BACK side (aka The "OTHER" side) shows the toy in a variety of poses
and display forms, complete with its accessories and display stand...
Each accessory shown is labeled, according to the Mazinger-Z robot's
arsenal of weapons and tools, faithfully True to the robot's classic
1972 manga/anime tv series by its creator the Honorable Mr. Go Nagai.
Da LEFT and RIGHT sides of da Box show the toy in different action
poses on each side; while on the Top ("NORTH") and Bottom ("SOUTH")
sides of da Box show identical illustrations of the toy in action.
(fig. 2)
Da PACKAGING:
Bandai's Got It Goin' On! ;D I sed, Bandai's Got It Goin' On !!!
The GX-01R MAZINGER-Z diecast figure comes sooo Suavely, and gently
wrapped in a plastic bag, and snuggly secured inside a "coffin" molded
styrofoam container, braced by the knees with a piece of styrofoam block,
and topped with a styrofoam lid.
Baby Jeezus in a manger never faired so well! ;D
An airhole is molded into the headboard of the styrofoam case to prevent
humidity and oxidation of the diecast... Ala "King Tut", in common! ;D
The accessories (Many) come in a separate cardboard interior box, encased
in three lightweight plastic-molded accessory trays-- and the figure's
Display Stand comes wrapped in a plastic bag, placed in the bottom of the
interior cardboard box, beside the three plastic accessory trays.
A highly-detailed, and well-illustrated, full-color brochure is included...
The Brochure, although in Japanese text, highlights illustrated instructions
on how to assemble this action-figure and its display setup.
Additional illustrations show the GX-01R Mazinger-Z diecast figure in a
variety of dioramic action-scenes, thus visually explaining the purpose
of each of his weapons and accessories...
...An added visual plus: The GX-01R is shown holding a Sword (not included)
which belongs to the GX-02 Great Mazinger diecast figure,
thus atesting the GX-01R's compatibility to use some of
GX-02 Great Mazinger's accessories.
Accessory tray 01 includes:
>(A) Scrander jet-wing Antenna
>(B) Scrander jet-wing Rudder
>(C) a black Display Stand plackard
>(D) Scrander jet-wing Launcher-Ramp
>(E) the Scrander jet-wing, which, as seen in the anime tv series,
serve as Mazinger-Z's flight wings.
The GX-01R's Scrander jet-wing is beautifully detailed, and highly
articulated to swoop foward and backward for flight/display modes.
Can ya say "SWOOOSHSHSH"! ;D
Accessory tray 02 includes:
>2 Pilder brains: a Hover Pilder, and a Jet Pilder. I'm not too familiar
with the storyline involving the history of These two Pilders.
The pilot (Kouji Kabuto) docks the Pilder into Mazinger-Z's crown atop his
head, thus acting as the "brain" to activate and operate Mazinger-Z.
In this display set, an additional HoverPilder (hover fans extended)
is included for display purposes.
>2 sets of magnetic(!) hinged elbows, for the forearm attachments.
These elbows are spring-loaded, and triggered, to launch the Rocket-Punch
and the Iron-Cutter forearms.
>2 Abdominal Plates, for the Missle-Punch rockets.
>3 Missile Punch rockets.
>the Fire Chestplate assembly, Mazinger-Z's most powerful weapon...
...in the tv anime series, this weapon emits a powerful Photoatomic
Heat Ray that can melt down any enemy-mechas within range...
...H-H-H-Hot Stuff, Baby! ;D
Accessory tray 03 includes:
>4 sets of Hands- hands and fists in different positions to hold
other objects; as well as to punch the livin sh*t outta enemy-mechas.
>2 pairs of Forearms, for attaching the hands and fists.
One pair is for normal pose; the other pair are the famous signature-weapon
Rocket-Punch forearms, which are fired like projectiles to punch out
enemy-mechas from a great distance.
>a pair of Foreams with "IronCutter" blades- Mazinger-Z uses these
mighty fine ginsu knives to slice and dice through enemy-mechas armor;
they protrude from Mazinger-Z's forearms when they're seldom launched
with the Rocket-Punch forearms.
And, last-not-least, the Display Stand; for displaying the GX-01R diecast action-figure.
The Display Stand is especially designed to mount the
GX-01R and All his accessories and weapons for display.
My only b*tchin gripe Here is that Bandai Shoulda built a compartment
inside the empty space beneath the Display Stand where we can store
some of Mazinger-Z's unused leftover loose accessories which
cannot be attached to the Display Stand, thus preventing Loss
of those loose accessories thereof...
...My solution: build my own compartment, same plastic material
and color, that can easily fit under the Display Stand, "shoebox style",
for stashin the unused leftover loose accessories.
BUT, I'd rather that Bandai manufacture Replacement Display Stands
with already-built-in compartments beneath them.
Also Note-worthy: the holding sockets, for the extra Forearms
sets, Shoula been made Magnetized to hold the extra Forearms
securely in place from falling off and getting lost.
The foot-wells in the Display Stand, beneath the SOC Figure's feet
Shoulda Also been Magnetized to keep the figure stabilized when
the Display Stand is moved around.
Da FIGURE:
Made of 100% diecast metal (some accessories are made of hard plastic).
The GX-01R is a fine testament to highly-skilled Detailed Craftsmanship
and Engineering which cannot be found in Any Typical toy manufactured
Anywhere on God's green Earth!
The Paint-job in this GX-01R is to Die For! A nice lustery sparkly metallic
navy-blue on the forearms, shins, and feet. Solid jet-black on the chest and
the torso. Even the detail on this Mazinger-Z's face is intricate, vivid,
and well-balanced.
The GX-01R may not be as highly-articulated as a Revoltech figure;
but, in Everything else, the GX-01R kicks all Revoltech figures To Da Curb!
The body-build of this GX-01R MAZINGER-Z is Very Well Proportioned,
and Balanced so all the body parts are in perfect scale.
On This GX-01R, I had NO PROBLEMS attaching the accessories.
Fresh out da apax, I had to gently wrestle the figure to give it it's very
first initial poses- having been stiff since it came off the assemblyline
to the warehouse to the store to the customer.
Some of the joints in this figure are "ratched", adding stability to support
the weight of its limbs and their carry-in-hand accessories.
The Feet and Legs of these Soul Of Chogokin figures are just a bit too
exageratedly large; but their size and diecast metallic weight
contribute to the Stability of these figures when they stand on their own.
BUT, Be Advised: the small Antenna at the nose of the Scrander jet-wing
can come loose and fall off easily... if ya lose it, yer f**ked...
And, if a small child or a dumbassed housepet finds it, and swallows it,
THEY're Royaly f**ked! ;D
(fig. 4)
Da ACTION:
Here, for purposes of This Toyopsy, I posed the GX-01R in just
a few of its action poses. The robot Mazinger-Z has too many
feats and weapons accessories to illustrate Here... you'll just have
to watch the ol' Mazinger-Z tv series, ALL 92 episodes, to get an idea
of what he can do...
...trust me, the GX-01R is built to simulate All of Mazinger-Z's
action moves...
...All True to the Mazinger-Z robot character in the tv anime series.
Need - I - say - More !?! ;D
My CONCLUSION:
The Soul Of Chogokin MAZINGER-Z GX-01R diecast action-figure simply
just isn't any ol' "typical ordinary toy"... It aint no "toy"... It Aint No Joke!
This item is for Serious Collectors and Fans of the Soul Of Chogokin line.
I do not recommend this item for small children, because of its small parts
which canb easily be swallowed and choked on.
To Fans and Collectors new to This item, I Highly Recommend this!
In fact, This is my very First SOC diecast figure, Ever! I'm Broken!!!
I been De-Virginized by a friggin High-End friggin diecast-metal king
of All action-figures!!! ;D
Recommended for ages Me, and Up! ;D
