I see the old Popy God Marz and the new SOC as two different kinds of products. The SOC looks fantastic (I have pre-ordered it) but it does not make me less interested in the Popy, as a collector of vintage die cast. But if I was interested only in the character God Marz and wanted an accurate representation I would be content with the SOC. You don't buy a vintage Popy for anime accuracy. It's like Chen says, it's not for perfection you want a Popy. You buy them for the soul. So I don't see why price should drop after the SOC is introduced. Did the price of Popy Mazinger, Gaiking, Voltes, Combattler and so on drop after their being made SOCs? The Popy Grendizer - without the spazer - sold for 65 000 yen on Mandarake recently. And that was with damaged box! That is the price of three SOC-sets with spacers and all! That the Popy looks totally inaccurate compared to the SOC, and the SOC being a fantastic toy in itself, doesn't matter. The price of the Popy God Marz is probably depending on how many of them are available and in what condition and if it's the japanese box or the godaikin etc etc. (Personally, I like SOCs but I prefer the old Popy's.) Check out the Popy Grendizer: ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/search.do?action=itemInfo&selectedItemIndex=10927&dt=1199352225007

man. looking at the pics makes me DROOOL ... The new godmarz is larger than the original.. hooray! It looks more anime accurate too! Also at 200 or even 300 I think it is a greater value than the original simply because it is just so much better. I would give up my quest for the original or would only want the original at a lower price simply because the soc version is SO much better... The key is that the size of the soc is now equal if not greater than the original.. which is how many of the soc should have been... I also noticed that in the case of dancougar the soc version seems to have impacted the price of the original more due to its size and improvement. But notice that voltes soc didnt because it was a smaller size... Now if only soc can go back and change the voltes to be an equivalent or bigger size than the original...

Due to my current financial capabilities, I have accepted that all classic Popys are way out of my reach, and I am fully content if Bandai or other companies produces new rendition of the classic bots from their DX line which I can afford.
Since I never own any of the old classics, I will not miss anything anyway (or probably just don't know and ingnorant of what I'm missing).

Man I can't Wait till March in two months. My only complant right now is the leg joint on Sphinx. It looks like that big leg is being held by a skinny little black piece. if so, i hope to god that piece is diecast because i dont think Godmars when combined the leg will keep tonight and it might actually snap if thats the case.

we need to start a post that allows us to rate and review online shops. might make it easier to establish trust and faith in the company, or does it already exist in the general forum

Just did my preorder there as well so we'll see!
Regarding the GodTron K.O. - it's not bad and certainly a cool toy at much less than the price of an original. Some people really dislike the bootlegs. And some of the details are replaced with stickers. However, it's die-cast, it's hefty, it comes with all the accessories. If you're on a budget it's not a bad way to go.
