These are known issues with the GX-37 mold, but that reviewer seems to be greatly exaggerating the effects. While initially off-putting, the amount of play in the ankle joints is trivial and not noticeable once you get used to it. I suspect the reviewer is just new to the mold. Plus the magnets get stronger when you've had it together for a little while. I can pick my GX-37 up by the head with no problems. I guess it's possible that those issues are worse on the reissue, but I really doubt it. Mine should arrive later this week. I'll certainly report if mine has genuine problems. Look forward to your report. The thing is, the reviewer was not even that upset about the flaws nor trying to exaggerate it (a more positive guy), but a genuine reaction and demonstration of what he sees right out of the box caught on film, which is even scarier. :D Hopefully it was not a widespread issue, since some of you picked it up. Ah, apologies. I didn't mean to suggest he was exaggerating it on purpose. Just that setting it down on what looked like a lumpy surface and tilting it back and forth is gonna have that effect. But watching it again, I don't think his play surface is even an issue. It's really just what someone first getting used to GX-37 would do with it. I'm so used to it by now that I handle mine a bit differently. Like I said earlier in the thread, it's not very solid in evil robot mode, and does take some getting used to. But really, you can plop it down quite confidently and stomp it across a table like any similarly sized SOC. Just hold it by the waist and be aware that there's some play in the legs. Depending on how you set it down, it might look like it's about to topple forward, but it never does. Admittedly, it's a goofy toy with some drawbacks. But it remains one of my all time favorites.

Glad I didn't pull the trigger on this one. Just watched a review, and the ankle joint is super loose, very unbalance and lean forward and backward all the time. The magnets that connect the head and torso also not that strong. It does look nice, and neat for display in ship mode on the stand. But if you want a very solid King Joe figure that plays and poses well, this reissue ain't it. You are frightening me friend! Mine should arrive soon, lets hope it has less flaws. They are making a reissue of the sh figuarts too (it openened its pre order yesterday I think), maybe you can go with that one. I missed the PO for this, maybe for the best? Did manage to secure a PO for the Figuarts reissue...
The Figuarts King Joe is a solid figure. Great man-in-suit sculpt and good posing. For me it lacks the charm of the SOC, but it's definitely well-executed.

Now that I’ve had more time with Garada and Doublas, I couldn’t be more pleased with them. They’re solid, fun, the colors are perfect, the joints are smooth and tight, . . . and I think I’ve won some sort of QC lottery; these things are flawless down to the molecular level. I’m sending big thanks out into the universe, hoping some of it somehow finds its way to the workers who paint and assemble these things. Now I’m really excited for the Boss, Aphrodai, and Minerva re-releases.

I'll be getting this set for the Aphrodai A. I do wish they went just a little harder toward orange with the yellow on Aphrodai, but it still looks miles better than the original release. I think this is easily the best GX-08 has ever looked. It even looks like they might have cleaned up the molds a bit; the seam lines between the die-cast parts look a lot tighter and cleaner than I remember them ever being on this mold.

My set just arrived from eKnightmedia. No time to play, but here are some quick thoughts: -love the box! Looks classy but made with uncharacteristically thick cardboard. Wish all my SOC boxes were this solid. -These bots are gorgeous. These have been my most-anticipated toys for a long while now, and they don't disappoint! Paint is shiny and flawless. -Spikes on Doublas' legs have very little give to them. Not rubbery at all. I don't think they're ABS. Maybe very stiff PVC? I think greengetterguy would approve. -Happy they didn't bother including stands with this release. -Usually, even with the best toy releases, there's something I want to change or fix, even if it's just repairing a small sprue-mark somewhere or adding some semi-gloss black paint inside the end of a gun barrel. So far, I see NOTHING I need or want to do to these guys . . . it's awesome but it feels weird.

Ah, wow! You're right, those are pretty close to T2s. Nice!

I know I said I would wait for the anime color version, and that GX-70SP was my favorite, but I was wrong. I got my GX-105 and I love it. Hah! Congrats.
And nice pic. I dig the inclusion of those Mitsubishi T-2s making a gentle turn in the background.
Although . . . the JASDF didn't start using them until a few years after Mazinger came on the scene. Got any JASDF Starfighters or Phantoms? :D

I had a KO toy that looked kind of like this pic, so there is nostalgia factor for me here.
MSRP for GoShogun and Baxinger were 35,000yen. MSRP for upcoming Badios and Braiger have gone up to 42,800yen. How much do you guys think Sasuraiger will cost?
My first guess would be about 46,000yen. Mostly because of the additional train cars. Just a guess, though. I know nothing. It looks great, and I kinda want it cause I always loved the design. Gonna wait to see how it reviews first.

...may explain why I don't go raging if something is not 'anime'-accurate. :D I also dont get it why fans are enraged when a certain mecha/robot is NOT anime accurate. Heck I still dig the OG vintage DX Voltes V or the old Chunky Monkey Bandai and the old chunky 1/40 Orguss figure. Old school Rocks!!! Heh, oldschool is one thing. (And a thing I tend to love.) But I admit to fleeting moments of rage when a modern toy of a property I like is stylized in some newfangled way that is neither anime or oldschool. :D

FWIW, I will be the first to admit that I don't watch most of the anime series featuring our beloved super robots and mecha. :D Is that blasphemic? :D Nah, not at all. Sturgeon's Law applies to robut shows as well as it applies to everything else. Very little is actually worth watching.
Probably an advantage to be able to enjoy a design without spending time on a lackluster story. Although, my wallet is no doubt thankful of the fact that I tend to lose interest in designs featured in uninspired media.

The Orguss anime storyline is not great. I'm about 35-40% through and it is boring. But the Orgroid mecha itself is cool. As a kid, I had the Orgroid and Gerwalk Nikick knock off toys from the Convertors toy line from the mid 80's. So it is somewhat sentimental for me. I'll have to acquire a vintage Takatoku 1/40 scale someday. I noticed the PO at Amiami sold out last night. But when I woke up this morning, its open again. So I preordered. Will be cool to finally add a modern chogokin of Orguss in my collection. And this will be my first Hi-Metal figure from Bandai for any of their lines. Yeah, in my estimation it's easily the weakest of the three Super Dimension series. I dig some of the mech designs, and the intro and outro music by Casey Rankin, but elsewise it struck me as pretty dull and poorly put together.

Looks like no stand for devilman this time. I would rather have the stand than the broken wings but any SOC part is a buy because I feel like my figure is incomplete without it, and I don't have devilman yet. I think it comes with the same steel-girder stand that the first release had. tamashiiweb.com/item/14315/?wovn=en

Huh. That's a definite improvement. I think I'd go just a bit further.
.
.
.
Gunbuster, Ideon, and Turn A Gundam are my personal holy trinity. Love the shows, love the bots.
I've long since come to peace with the fact that I'll never get my dream toy of any of them. (GX-36 Ideon came so close; if only it didn't always turn into a ragdoll.)
Ah well.
For those of you who are looking forward to it, I sincerely hope you enjoy the CCS redesign.

Very tempting. Color choice is on point and the finish looks amazing.
Also about 1/60th scale. That puts it at the same scale as PG Gundam kits, GX-24 Tetsujin, HMR Dougram, most RD Aura Battlers, plenty of Macross offerings, and the recent Riobot Gurren Lagann, among many others. (A Mazinkaiser at 1/60 would be about 38 cm!)
