I'm digging this. I really like how the old G1 robot mode stickers are now sculpted and painted on. Grabbed the toy deco version at BBTS.

Is anyone else getting this thing?
And if you are, do you know how or where to get the monochrome version?
I don't normally collect soft vinyl, (I don't have any right now!) but the colors and sculpt on this look amazing. Already ordered one at HLJ, but I'm keenly interested in getting the black and white version as well.

Nice. I'd love to see a side-by-side with the original DX Maz. The old one always looked kinda clunky and awkward to me. Proportions look better this time around.

Not sure approval is the right word. Spock is . . . intrigued.
Okay, more potato pics incoming. Even worse this time cause I'm tired and can't be arsed to do better. I got inspired by this screenshot Bandai used in their Gedo promotion. Then I went and found some scrap balsa wood in my workshop. I got this far before I thought to take a progress pic:
I just got this stupid idea in my head, and next thing I know, I had wasted three hours making a Kingdom of Ah style Gedo boarding gantry.
I still need to trim and sand it a bit. And then I'll stain it.
But that'll wait till tomorrow.
Thanks for coming to my TED talk.

My RD Gedo arrived today. It's . . . way better than I was expecting. Like, way, way better.
QC is amazing. With most RDs I end up cleaning and hiding maybe a dozen sprue marks. Took me forever to even find any sprue marks on this thing. Not sure if they molded all the parts differently to put all the sprue connections in hidden places or what, but it's immaculate. I finally found two tiny sprue marks on either side of the pommel you detach from the hilt in order to fit the sword in his hand, but that was it.
This thing is surprisingly solid for such a small battler. Joints are nice and tight. Much more satisfying in hand than the similarly-sized Dunbine RD.
Articulation is impressive. The head/neck has a great range of motion, in addition to being able to extend the head up and out or have it turtle-down with it's head protected by it's collar. We've had similar neck joints on battlers before, but this time around it looks better and is far more fluid to pose and with a greater range of motion. And the cables at the back of the head have plenty of play and don't impede it at all. It's also got double jointed elbows and knees, and the claws in the back of the calves can fold out of the way.
The way you can hide the port for the attachment of the scabbard is clever and well-executed, and really goes above and beyond what they needed to do for screen accuracy. It's a simple little thing, but it works so well.
I was expecting just another RD of a mech I like, but this little thing is fantastic. I doubt it'll ever happen, especially now that they've finally finished all the TV battlers, but I'd love to see them revisit the Dunbine in more show-accurate colors and with this kind of engineering. It's weird having a background mech from the early episodes that so thoroughly outclasses the toy of the title mech.

For me, I guess it's a tie between Mazinger and Getter 1. I've got three versions of each. The only other things that show up that many times in my collection are the Zoids Godos mold and Bandai's DX VF-1.

I really dig the DC releases of Maz and Great Maz. (aside from the way they sculpted the eyes on Mazinger . . . something it looks like they fixed on GX-105. I took matters into my own hands regarding GX-70's eyes: robotjapan.proboards.com/post/444668/thread ) not so sure about devilman and the getters... I bought the getter robo 1 for half its price. The DC Getters 1, 2, and 3 are among my favorite SOC releases ever. GX-74 Getter 1 got reissued a few times, though it did get clearanced out at a lot of places the last time it was released. GX-91 Getters 2 & 3 sold out right away and hasn't ever been reissued as far as I know.
I'd still love it if they followed it with DC-style releases of the Getter G trio, but I've given up on that ever happening.

King Joe finally arrived. UPS kept rescheduling the delivery date, (they did that with Garada and Doublas as well. Is this the new normal?) and the outer box looked like it had been drop-kicked at least half a dozen times. The SOC box was a bit bashed in on one corner, but mostly fine. King Joe remained safe in his styrofoam coffin and everything important was unscathed. (Sadly, the SOC box is that paper-thin cardboard that barely holds it shape without the foam to hold it up. I was hoping the thick stuff they used for Garada and Doublas would be the new standard, but not for King Joe.)
King Joe himself is great. -Finish looks amazing. Looks like polished titanium. Puts the comparatively dull finish on the older one to shame. -The colors on its chest panel are darker and more saturated. -His knees and ankles are as loose as on the original release; no worse and no better. -The magnets on mine are super strong right out of the box. The magnets on the old one were pretty weak when I first got it, and while now I can pick it up by its head, if I shook it around it would fall apart. I'm not gonna try it anytime soon, but the new one feels like I could fly it around the room by its head and it would stay together. I can certainly shake it around like a madman an inch above my desk without the magnets at the head and waist budging at all. Wasn't expecting that. -I don't like the feel of the ratchet joints in the elbows on the new one. They're not bad, but they don't have that silky smooth feel that the old one has. -All the hinge joints associated with the transformation are super tight on mine. Way tighter than on the old one and they really don't need to be. They move smoothly, but require a bit more force than really feels comfortable for some of the smaller hatches. Doesn't feel like something that would be a problem as long as you take your time, but I'd warn against speed-transforming King Joe while drunk.
Overall, I dig it. Still not keen on the feel of the elbow joints, but it's much prettier on the shelf than the original.
I haven't seen a straight up comparison pic with the old one yet. I'll try to post one later tonight or maybe tomorrow when I have more time.

I just realized that I never filled in the holes on the ends of Poseidon's fingers with black paint, and as a result he hasn't been able to shoot nets out, and now, to my horror and embarrassment, his arms are all congested and full of twenty years worth of nets. And when I hurriedly took off his hands to add some paint, I noticed for the first time that the hands have L and R molded inside them.
You know, in case you forget which side the thumb goes on and you don't have a handy reference. Good on Bandai for looking out for us like that. I feel as if a massive burden has been lifted from my shoulders, now that I know that I'll still be able to properly assemble my Poseidon when I'm old and terribly senile. (So, like, next year...)
