two things to clarify
the GX71 was NEVER sold for $500 that price tag was the after market prices, if you believe this then you better be new to this hobby, when i got mine way back first ever release it cost me LESS than $300, there is a 3rd run for the GX71 which going to be released next month that cost $300
i HAPPILY paid $700 for some figures in my collection because i know they WORTH that asking price, but with this one i dont think it worth that asking price simple its a matter of principle not money, this figure is at least 4 months away thats without delays which they are famous for, so its not hard to save up for it Happy that you're able to get figures at retail price from where you live But unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world where people don't take advantage. The latest GX-71 reissue that you're referring to cost USD500 here to pre-order. Yes, pre-order price From my profile you can see that I'm not a noob, which is why the current collector situation where I live disgusts me. Retailers here used to be "collectors helping out fellow collectors". Now they are just the same as any other business, profits come first. "The biggest profit I can squeeze out of an item, the better" kind of thinking. Would you believe pre-order price of SOC DX Voltes in some places here was USD 1000? If not making an item waaay overpriced, they will "bundle" it with some worthless crap from their inventory of shelf warmers. The price goes up an you'll be stuck with something worthless that you can't even sell off to break even. The greed is simply disgusting... Which is why I stopped buying stuff locally and went back to HLJ, sometimes Amiami. But then the government will charge tax whenever items cost above USD200 so whichever way, I'm screwed. lol

I really like this idea But kinda wondering why this wasn't raised during the GX-71 craze a few years ago Well, I think GX-71 did not quite reach $700USD on the MSRP front... I get it though, this iteration is larger and seems to have some neat features. Not hating the project as it's impressive but just pointing out that this is a pretty hefty price. Hmmm, maybe not on your end, but here (Philippines) it even reached the USD800 mark. Close to USD900 actually based on current conversion rate. But it still got sold out, lolz

For $699 USD...I think you can almost go after a vintage Golion in pretty decent condition. I really like this idea But kinda wondering why this wasn't raised during the GX-71 craze a few years ago

Really nice to see other companies stepping up and producing mainstream licenses, giving Bandai some good competition About the price, think of it this way. SOC Golion scalpers/hoarders/whatever will think twice about selling their stuff for 600 to 700 bucks now that there's a better alternative for the same amount. Bigger too. Heh, probably one of the reasons why Bandai started jacking up prices... cuz people still get them

The discussions about the price hike of SOCs and other high end collectibles got me thinking. Is it because Bandai Blue products are now aimed at Youtubers/bloggers who are mostly earning from what they are doing? Maybe Bandai realized that they're not getting any royalties from them, then might as well raise prices and get in on the action. Hence the new adult collectible division Bandai Blue. So an average collector who doesn't earn a cent from this hobby is probably NOT their target market Things were so different back in the day when people usually collect stuff just for fun...

Wow, can't believe we're almost up to a hundred SOC releases already... Hats off to those who are able to complete the whole line so far. I think one such person is Gold, one of RJ's mods Anyone else here who's about to reach the GX-100 mark?

So there gonna have a reveal of GX-100 on 24th of this month with special guest (Isao Sasaki)
Oh man, it's gonna be the God Phoenix from Gatchaman for GX-100? I don't know why I'm on a ship-trend lately (previously with SDF-1). Sasaki Isao was the voice of Joe the Condor from Gatchaman.
God Phoenix is a good choice, as long as it's gonna be the "Chicken Ship" version from Gatchaman II The first version God Phoenix had several modern day treatments already, starting from the one made by Unifive. Or it could be Gatchaspartan, but I hope not...

Thanks for the info mpchi The trailer's kinda weird to me though, I got excited cuz Combattler wasn't "super deformed" during Chodenji Yoyo animation. Then Infinity Maz appeared, half body was okay, then zoomed out to reveal he's SD and the other mechs as well... da hecc...

I read on FB that it was stated that this will be 38cm tall which means it will be way bigger than the SOC and be big time $$$$ Wow, 38cm Looks like they're gunning for the "Bandai DX SOC" market...

Is it just me, or does anybody else think this looks better proportion wise than SOC GX-44?

Look at it this way, remember those Omnibot robots from the 80's, Aibo from late 90's, and Robosapien from early 2000's? Kinda the same thing

My only wish for this set is that Bandai packages the Valkyrie in Battroid mode For convenience sake since most people are probably getting this for the Armored VF-1J configuration anyway (like me). A lot easier to put everything back in the box too after playing around with it But yeah, as if Bandai will shell out more money for new vac form molds, lol

Just chiming in I'm kinda surprised Bandai decided to go BEYOND 100 for the GX series. Because historically, their Popy lineups never went beyond 100, up to GA-99 and GB-99 only. ...BUT, Bandai did decide to release GA-100 after several years, in 1998 to be exact. And that was the "retro" style GA-100 Gundam RX-78. What if Bandai does the same for GX series... RX-78 Gundam as GX-100 with anime accurate proportions and colors like DC Maz...

If it is a QC problem then I'll probably just end up with two broken ones and for what? In an ideal situation, I'd rather just have new pegs machined out of aluminum or something lightweight and durable using the non-broken one as a template but I don't know anything about that stuff. Another option is "3D printing" the whole fist that has a broken peg, maybe from Shapeways. The only challenge I see is the STL file for the broken fist, how to get one... Either an RJ bro can help model the fist from scratch, or can have the unbroken fist 3d scanned and then "mirror" the 3D model. Just not sure if that will be an exact copy of the broken one, but ideally it should

This is the original 2011 release. Gold Thanks for the info Gold Just checked the 2016 re-issue, no sign of discoloration. Very strange, there are several Bandai figures with clear plastic parts and this is the first time I've heard something like this happen. I know that they tend to be brittle over time, but this issue is new to me.

Hi guys, here's my "better late than never" review for the Gx-59R Daltanious. Very nice review as always Gold Regarding the "color fade" that happened to the clear plastic parts of your GX-59. Just want to confirm if that's the first version from 2011, or is it the 2016 re-issue? If the figure wasn't exposed to heat or sunlight, maybe it's the leftover "oil" from the molds at the factory..? Any RJ bros/sis encounter the same problem with their GX-59s?
