Great review! Thanks Gold! Glad I didn't pick it up since I only have the regular GX-13 and not being able to combine with it is absolute deal breaker. Maybe I'll finally open the sentinel one soon.....

Finally took the time to transform this thing (still didn't change its head fins). He is just so bulky compared to Combattler. I like the proportion of the Combattler more to be honest, but Voltes does feel very nice in hand.

Finally an SOC I'm excited about! Few more weeks to go! Been wanting one since I was a kid. Almost bit on the CM's/Arcadia. Glad I waited for the SOC.

their last metal tetsujin (the 12 inch one with internal details like this one) was 30,000 yen MSRP. That was 2018 though, before chogokin prices really soared. The quality of the last one was so so, looks very good as a display piece, but nowhere near SOC DX in terms of fitment. Panels kind of flop around once opened and the lack of sturdiness in the panel connections don't give one confidence, but the paint was good, and it is visually an awesome piece. If you're like me and just display the bots and don't pose with it too much, it's a good piece.

did not expect it to be this huge. Hope it's DX Daimos next to complete the trilogy (a person can wish). Lovely collection. The full action Voltes SOC is upset he didn't make the cut though.

Ya it was a sneaky move.... I wouldn’t have noticed it either if someone else hadn’t mentioned it.

I'm guessing US retailers have to pay a lot more to ship the large box of the combined set than they do the 3 little boxes.

Years ago I bought some SHE bots from a seller in South America. Items arrived slashed through the side all the way to inside the item’s box by their customs. I think they do this to check if there are drugs stored in hidden compartments or something.
It was one of the most expensive item I purchased at the time and I was traumatized. I never bought or sell from countries other than Japan and HK and Canada again.

That’s a pretty good price. Even on Mandarake it’s 27000 yen plus shipping.

I’m in California and amazon jp charges me local tax. So the savings at amazon jp isn’t nearly as great compared to a year ago. Toys nowadays are all about articulation, which while nice really isn’t something I need. SOC to me still hits the balance between price, quality, sturdiness, and articulation. Personally, if I can save a couple hundred bucks by loosing the crazy articulation I would. Like pose+ Baikanfu, if it’s in the three hundred dollar range with the same sculpt but SOC level articulation, I’d bite. I’m buying for the sculpt and combining gimmick, not the ability to make dynamic poses. I know the general mass prefer the crazy articulation and right now we are getting it, but also paying the crazy prices for it. My toys tend to get only handled in the brief time between box and display cabinet. So personally, this leap in articulation and thus prices the past couple years is steering me away from the hobby. Really? I am in California too, but doesn't look like I got charge for local tax. I just looked at the few recent orders, and its just the item price, shipping handling, that's it. Check the invoice. They generate two invoices. One when the order is placed and another when they charged it. The second one includes tax.

Ya it’s a weird choice since it’s covered by many other lines from Bandai and other toy companies already. The robot spirit one is not bad and really good enough for me. I grew up watching the show so it’s definitely nostalgic. I might get one to check it out and see if improvements are worth the money.
