Good news for all the people wanting to watch Mazinger Z in its original version, Discotek Media finally announced the release date of the Mazinger Z DVD volume 1: Mazinger Z original TV Series episodes 1-46. Coming on DVD April 29th 2014. Japanese language, English subtitles. I have only watched the series in spanish and I really looking forward to see this in Japanese. That's good news! Hopefully the English subtitles will be readable and understandable. Now the question is: How good are the English subs... are they good as far as the Grammar and punctuation is concerned? Or will the subs look anything like that crappy Hong-Kong DVDrip that permeated the internet a few years ago? I've got my own English subbed version which I worked on for five months almost two summers ago, translated from the original Spanish subs. Word for word I tried my best to stick close to the anime; and all the character names remain intact. My subs were later used for the HD fansub project "Edición Fotoatómico" which was shared online a couple years ago, but not many people were interested in it because it was >multi-language sub/audio set >most folks thought it was just a Spanish project >the box set was way too large to download entirely (16gb) >and it was heavily bloated with all sorts of Extras which were really unnecessary and made the download time painfully longer, thus corrupting some files during the download process. I admire the way that project looks (superb video/audio quality). But if I were to release my own version, I would just release the anime series by itself -- no bullsh*t Extras and no unnecessary stoOopid junk. Here's a sample of my English subtitles, for the OVA movie MZvsAnkoku...... ........Back on topic. I would still buy this new DVD set, because I like the artwork on the cover, and the quality will be much better than the old videos I have. Thanks for the good news! zozo-mag That's an incredible work you have done there Magengar, congratz for the titanic task of subtitling Mazinger Z all by yourself. Distocotek Media usually does a good Job with subtitles so I hope this release gets a good job in that department, but like you I am still getting it regardless, the video quality must be a good upgrade compared to what we have right now.

Is it a Tamashii Web Exclusive? }D I don't think so, the article is just describing the parts and teasing the upcoming Tamashii event from November 1st to November the 3rd

As for the Kaiser rocket punch effect, it makes the original effect look so punny! Now I understand why Kaiser ripped apart Mazinga with his bare hands. I am telling you that Mazinkeiser is over-powered, he had never had a difficult fight nor an original enemy, I believe a steroids test in order for that guy

^ Beautiful, that set will be mine, sadly this is also cements the idea that the Mazinger Weapon set 2 will never see the light of day

Agree. That's why I'm redoing mine when I get it (Kaiser Pileder, upper arms, thighs). I can comprehend why Bandai made a pretty anime accurate Mazinkaizer SKL but totally screwed up the original Mazinkaiser (OVA version) by taking so many liberties with its design. }| Bandai can't screw up a design of a character if the creator wants it that way, so it would be Go Nagai's fault for allowing this design to be made. who knows, maybe this design is a glimps of a future Mazinkaiser episodes like the mention Shin Great Mazinger and Shin Grendizer. Was that ever addressed by Go Nagai? besides that one vague interview in the middle east? because I would very much like those

Called it weapon set for Shin Getter coming could be a combo pack with stuff for Mazinkaiser. Other than the two smaller swords, what other weapon would Mazinkaiser need? Bandai should just make it a huge set, and include the Spacer(s), the Mazingers Weapons Set 2, and the Tomahawk. }D And then for the ultimate Bandai trolling make it Tamashii web exclusive limited run

Well, it seems that nothing new was shown at the Tamashii booth at the New York Comic con, I kind of New that Tamashii USA doesn't have that kind of leverage; but all is not lost! Tamashii Japan will have a show in Akibahara from November 1st to November 3rd, not only that but they are saying their main focus for this show will be Chogokin-related along with a few announcements and surprises, Genesic GaoGaiGar will be shown there officially along with the SOC Yamato, let's keep our fingers crossed for some meaty announcements and some pleasant surprises.
