It's the key to the confirmation that he'll be there  I wonder did they start working on that yet...cuz Nagai seemed so determined on remaking the trilogy with new anime techs in that video! I hope they knew what were the flops with Shin Mazinger Z and give us a good Shin Great Mazinger and Grendizer later. Come on, you know what the flop was in Shin Mazinger... there were hardly any good mecha fights! Also, the story revolved more around Ashura and Kurogane than Koji and Mazinger. It killed the anime... }D |

Actually thats false Shin Mazinger Shougeki! Z-Hen did really well, but what it got criticize the most was the lack of action,the constant flashback and certain episodes where prolonged to much. example Mazinger Z appearing, it took 8 episodes just to be properly introduce. I would use 3 episodes to introduce mazinger z and the 5 extra episodes i would have use it to fully tell us the Story side of Zeus.
but in the end the series did so well that it guaranteed Shin Great and Shin Grendizer to be made. heck Mazinkiser Skl is a definite proof of it, if Shin Mazinger didn't meet the expectation there would be no Shin great nor Shin Grendizer or Mazinkaiser Skl.
Im only hoping they do a Shin Mazinkiaser with a new enemy to fight. since he really needs his own story, desperately.

Actually, Shin Mazinger did not do that well as you mention. They were blaming the low poll scores on the time-frame they were showing it, which I think it was around 11:00 PM if I remember correctly. But after the series was over, it turned out that many people stopped watching it after the first 12 or so episodes because it lacked action and like you said, dragged on and on. Some even speculated as to the abrubt end due to lack of interest and lack of funding.
Like I said, I will be very surprised if a Shin Great Mazinger ever sees the light of day, but will welcome it with open arms.

not really, GoNagai Confirm in one of those convention in Kuwait or Egypt, that Shin Mazinger was a success an assure the Mazinkaiser Skl, now we have to wait for and see if Skl succed as well although many believe its gonna be har since its only 3 episodes. even the official site GoNagai was putting a thank you to the audience for supporting the show and made the objective.
another problem Shin Mazinger had is that not only you needed to see it on the TV in japan but as well on the Bandai because it had extra content that on the TV, for me that a terrible move and many agree of it.

Coz next thing ya know, Tohokushinsha will catch a wild hair up the a__ and remake some sh*t like "Shin Yuusha Raideen ShoNuff" and start proclaiming that Raideen was actually King Tut. Then so-n-so will pop out a new "Shin Getter Afro Sheen" and say Getter came from Aretha Franklin.  zz-mag |

Shin Mazinger Z disappointed me too! I didn't like how they stretch the running time in many episodes and make it boring. I didn't like these stupid weapon name callings, like they kept saying, "roo-ckett-ooo pun-chiii-eee", as if it's part of the episodes dialogue! I admit that at some points, specially, with the latest episodes, I was getting excited, but then, the boredom took over again. I didn't appreciate the direction as well. As for the modern anime techniques, VFX, coloring, music, bla bla bla... nah, they can't fool me w/ these 'N of course: few action 'n mecha kick@$$! |

Mixing too much mythology, voodoo magic and such spiritual powers with the super robot concept is not always a good idea! Boredom is a bad sign for any show, but even more so for anime. I think Shin Mazinger Z makes you anxious to see episode 2 after you watch 1, and 3 after you watch 2 'n so on...Not because you are excited about the show and the events...but because you hope that by the next episode it might get any better. |

so it proves the Classic Mazinger Z is Better than Shin Mazinger .. because the Classic Mazinger Z Beat Garada K7 & Doublas M2 in 1 Episode, while Shin Mazinger took several episodes to beat them |

The most interesting battles I enjoyed in the shin maz series
were with Garada... I liked Garada's Lasso Of Doom (his neck rings)....
...and the battle with Danube Alpha1.
And also the battle helping Zeus beat Lord Hades which I thought was hilarious when Zeus tried his own
"rocket punch"- I coulda seen myself throwing my shoe at somebody and
shouting "roketo Nike!!!" ;D
Anyway, SKL is a breath of fresh air.
Nothing tops Mazinger vs Deimos F3
from back in the day!

Just watched the first ep of Mazinkaiser SKL and as anticipated it kicked all kinds of azz. It is a full on heavy metal Mazinger. My wishes have been answered, can't wait till the next one. (Hope we see Getter Ark handled the same way)

well if shin Grendizer is gonna be a follow up to the Shin Mazinger Z story, then there is no doubt in my mind that possible Grendizer design was base from Hades or could be Neptune(Zeus brother?!??)
