Does anyone know if it shoots anything? Nope, nothing comes flying out of this beast. Like I said before, it is a pretty cool figure. However, I'm not very thrilled with the paintjob. It feels rough for some reason... like a dog's chew toy, and it definitely has many places where the paint was applied with a brush instead of spray - like the silver edge around Go Lion's chest shield (family crest). On the other hand, it has more cut-joints than I imagined, which is a plus! Alrighty then... here are more pics of the newest Shogun Warrior to hit the streets! (excuse the crappy setting and pic quality - I had to use a very old camera): The box is BIG and will bring back memories of the 1977 Mattel Shogun Warrior boxes! It has a lot of room inside for the figure and has a double bottom for added protection. BTW, the Go Lion comes secured by half a million twisty ties, so be prepared for some untwisting (there's actually about 8 or 10 of those things, but they are the double-wrapped thick kind). Here's Volt.. errr, I mean Go Lion! Let's start with the head. Very nicely painted and it can rotate 360 degrees. No up and down movement there... and no, the yellow ears don't fold in either. What a shame. Down to the arms. Noticed the Lion Heads on the arms? Nothing like the 9" release... these have molded lion mouths that may be able to hold a sword handle perhaps? Cool! ;D Unfortunately, no Blazing Sword is included. The arms can rotate 360 degrees at the shoulders, but only in theory. The wings will not allow for full 360 rotation. The arms also have cut-joints at the elbows (lions' waists) as well as the lions' necks. Go lion can also rotate at the waist, but only very little due to Go Lion's belt. Bad news, but something I did see coming... there is zero articulation at the hips - it is a one piece deal. However, the knees can rotate 360 (again - in theory), if that's any consolation... One cool surprise was the Lion Heads on the Blue and Yellow Lions. They can rotate a little to adjust Go Lion's stance! Well, that's about all there is about Toynami's Shogun Warrior Go Lion. That and the fact that it is on the pricey side of vinyl toys at $229 USD! On the other hand, this figure has zero smell - which is common with vinyl figures. Oh, and it is also supposed to be limited to 500 pieces world-wide. ;D If you can afford it, by all means get it. The box alone is a cool display piece. Besides, with the upcoming release of the Shogun Warrior Dairugger XV, the Go Lion is a must... otherwise, how else are you going to recreate the scene of that Voltron Movie with the two Voltron's in it??? }D

Excellent! First "real" pics I've seen of this bad-boy.
If only these were a little cheaper.

Super Cool... Well cheaper would be better but this pretty much assures only die hard fans will buy it. It's my Xmas present and should be here tomorrow.
How much could they possibly be making off this?
Think about it, even if Toynami made 100% profit of this, that totals out to be a very small amount.
$229x500= $114,000
Now, obviously Toynami doesnt not make 100% profit off this. There is manufacturing/development/prototype/box manufacturer/printer/sculptor/graphic designer/shipping from china/factory workers/paint/QC/advertising/rejected pieces/losses/ distribution and all sorts of other costs on top of that... So what's in it for them? I doubt they make anything that makes it worthwhile for them aside from having pride in making the largest detailed Golion ever.
In any case THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH Toynami!

Yo TMZ, that is one helluva Badass review on this specimen; and we're all glad you made it outta there without any black eyes as well. ;D The pics you posted of this bad boy: AWESOME!!! Crisp, Clear, and Sharp! I'd like to use these pics as visual reference when I go to paint the detail on my jumbo Golion real soon. I'm gonna take a Before pic before I blast the old peeling decals off of it in my dishwasher machine. Then I will paint the detail so it looks as realistic such the way this vinyl Golion looks. I like the sculpt on this figure as well. And with these close-up pics I can Definitely SMELL the fresh scent of brand new vinyl right here through my netbook monitor (too bad this aint Scratch-n-Sniff! LOL). ;D Again, great review, in fact-- great TOYOPSY! All Hands Down! zozo-Magengar

Thank you, so much for posting the pics and the info! Though this is not a character I'm interested in, I'm HOPING that we will see more traditional Shogun Warriors down the line. I am very excited by this series! If you have time, I have a small Shogun Warriors section on my site, www.statuemarvels.com. I would love if you repeated your postings of this release there. Thanks! Al

Thanks for the pics! I really like the look of this - well, except for the face - I kinda of prefer the square cut look of the vintage toy. Super Cool... Well cheaper would be better but this pretty much assures only die hard fans will buy it. It's my Xmas present and should be here tomorrow. How much could they possibly be making off this? So what's in it for them? I doubt they make anything that makes it worthwhile for them aside from having pride in making the largest detailed Golion ever. In any case THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH Toynami! Yeah, that's a good point. While certainly expensive (I'm priced out), they are not really making any $ off of this. I have to expect that this "initial" run will be 500 pieces, but if they sell well, you know they are going to reissue it to make it profitable (or at least break even).

Yeah, I imagine they would have to reuse this mold somehow (repaint/black edition)..I just dont see the sense in only making 500 of these and then thats it. They cannot be making anything off this. Maybe Im wrong, but the small amount of money these 500 total out to doesn't seem like enough to cover costs.
Anyways, I got mine today, I couldn't help but giggle for a few minutes at its amazing height. Its one of the bestest Xmas presents evar. I dont know if its because of its size that its apparent, but there are some sloppy parts in the paint/molding. Especially the silver areas on the torso. In any case, its a HUGE Golion..thats all I need for me to want it bad

Please Please PLEASE refresh my senile memory, How TALL is this bad boy really? I keep lookin at the pics TMZ posted, and this sure looks friggin Awesome for what it is. Too bad it's way outta my budget and only 500 made. The manufacturer can't just stop there; how else are they gonna make a profit from this, let alone only 500 pieces made? Perhaps they're just testing the market with this limited amount. I hope they break even so they can make more at an affordable price.

So kewl! The local comic/hobby shop that's big enough to actually risk ordering one of these, (said they would) almost had a heart attack when I actually asked if they'd get one in. So much of the typical local buyers out there whine if something is more than $11, that when someone serious keeps popping in, they're not sure what to do! LOL

I have to agree with you, RTJ... with something new on the scene as these Toynami Shogun Warriors, the buyers would rather see how well this new toy does in its targeted market before they jump on it to stock it on their shelves. Sadly though, their first excuse would be something like "There isn't a big enough market here in the U.S. for those toys" Well, I say if they'd at least come by and visit HERE at RJ then they'd see there IS a pretty sized enough market for these toys. On the flipside of the coin, many of us are having a hard time making ends meet while supporting this hobby in today's economy. I hate to bring up the "economy" issue so much, but it's obviously true for many of us who are shopping on a budget. Oh well, what else can we do. zozo-Magenar

You guys totally roped me in with all of this talk about them not making any money, it made me feel like I was getting a value, even though I am spending almost $500 bucks on vinyl goodness. My girlfriend is either going to kill me or make me buy her really expensive shoes. I just ordered both from BigBadToyStore. I used their "Pile of Loot" function so both items will ship together which means I save, but have to wait..................Did that just sound like a commercial or what? I cannot wait to post some pictures of these bad boys trading punches with my other vinyls.
