here is the new line Saint Cloth Myth EX and also Saint Cloth CrownSaint Cloth Crown will be a 1/6 scale Figure, 12" tall" The lineup of Saint Cloth Myth EX starts from Gemini Saga! Introducing the three “Exclamations” of the Saint Cloth Myth EX series: Point 1- MOVEMENT Each parts feature entirely new constructs enabling for a wide range of articulation even when figure is wearing cloth (armor) parts! This incredible level of articulation when the figure is wearing cloth allows for improved portrayal of finishing-move action poses. Point 2- “FORM” A complete remodeling of the action figure creating a perfect, seamless fit with the cloth (armor) parts. A form looks like it walked right out of an anime scene. Point Three- “AND MORE” Multiple facial expression parts have been included. Gemini Saga will include a total of FIVE interchangeable face parts. These are combined with a wealth of interchangeable hand parts to allow for freedom of posing and expression. In addition, the first release of Gemini Saga will include limited first production bonus effect parts replicating Gemini Saga’s signature move, “Galaxian Explosion!” video

I have to say I am not very convinced by these new lines. Most of the improvement of the EX Cloth and bodies look good, more streamlined and form fitting, just like the official anime proportion. However, the faces look like a down grade from the Myths/Appendix. Pretty obvious its done by a different sculptor, and they don't look quite right. Saga with the mouth opened face looks very bad. And heard these are slightly bigger than the Myth, a head swap may not be doable, so it makes it seem a bad move to dig into the EX line to get duplicates (but improved bodies) of the same thing. And when these being a little bigger than the rest of my Myth collection, they may seem out of place, and taller than even Hades. Not sure why Bandai couldn't maintain the head sculpt quality, and use another artist to do them (happened with Myth line too).
In terms of the 12", the proportion is quite off. Look a bit too 'realistic' porportioned, with a small head and tall body. Aiolos' head sculpt looks quite wrong with the eyes so far apart. I'll stick with my Myth, and keep an eye on the EX. But really, I'll be happy enough just to get the remaining Cancer, Capricorn & Libra Appendix released and call it done. I hope they won't kill the Appendix line because of the EX line. That would make me sad...

Who's willing to bet that they made the heads ugly on purpose so that they can release the Myth Cloth EX Appendix line?

I hope not LOL. Thats pure evil if Bandai made the heads ugly on purpose. I digged a bit more deeply on the info at Toysdaily, and it turn out that the EX is indeed 2cm taller. The heads are more or less the same size as Myth/Appendix, but its said that they are not swappable (probably different neck connection) from a hands on demo piece. While the Cloth seems more thin and form fitting, a lot of it is still diecast. For Saga, almost all the pieces are diecast, except the waist/lower torso. If the new body is greatly enhanced, it might be worthy as a more playable piece. The Myth ver.1 body really can't sustain the diecast weight, and the articulation range are quite limited. If the EX line has great looking faces (Mu apparently looks great and much like its Appendix counterpart, but most of the other ones are off with a very long nose and funny eyes size and placement), I wouldn't hesitate to get them. But as of now, I am still very unsure. This site has many detail images and size comparison: www.mythcloth.info/

Man, I just said I was done w/ collecting Cloth Myth a couple of months ago (unless they release the appendices), and now they go and make a new line. From the pictures, it's hard to tell whether it has lots of diecast or not, but the the fact that you can do crazy poses is making them really tempting. However, one thing I don't like about them is the super skinny waists. It does look more like the anime, but at the same time makes them look slightly feminine. I would say the best looking one so far is Dohko, and the one that looks the least changed from the regular line is prob Taurus.

i will get it.
i have all of the regular releases, plus the campain items and some OCE figures.
for me will be more like a 2 separate display, but withing the same collection. the v1 will be the "manga" version and the EX will be the "anime" version, at least for me.
what im really want to see, is the females saints, and some new faces, like the specters.
by the way, bandai says to the tamashii distributor on MEXICO, DAM (distribuidora animexico) the face for gemini saga will improve and these are just the prototypes.
cheers

daikumaryu, I really hope you are right about the face improvement. If the faces will be as good as the Appendix, then I am in! Might turn all the previous Gold Cloths into object mode, while the EX in human form. The preorders in places are starting to sold out, so we might need to act quick, and keep our fingers crossed waiting the actual release.
I too would love to see the female Saints, and especially Athena's God Cloth. I passed on the dress version, because I know Bandai will make one with the Cloth eventually. But with EX coming up, I don't know if they will set the females aside for a while. But in a way, Bandai seems to be doing the right thing to keep the line going, even after finishing most of the characters on the list. The reboot seems to come in at the right time (though suck for us who might end up spending a lot of money). Also, the new Lost Canvas anime helps too (great show!).

Just read a transtated interview from the Bandai Myth producer. The reason they started EX line was because the demand on a better version of Gold Saints among fans are very high, and the cost for producing Appendix had gone up significantly (which did reflected on Aiolos Appendix, almost twice as much as the normal ones). So rather than keep making high cost Appendix items (with less popularity and risk of losing buyers), they want to improve from ground up and make a better base body that can sustain the weight better and with better articulation. And thats how the EX line comes in. In other words, there won't be anymore future Appendix release...
Currently, EX line will cover all 12 Gold Saints, as well as the 5 Bronze (Seiya & co.) in the 'New Born ver.' Cloth (or version 2 Cloth). So 17 figures planned so far, but the list may grow, depending on the sales. The regular Myth series will still go on, with high possiblity of adding the female Saints, as well as some of the Specter characters they wanted to produce as well.
Very interesting info...

hi mpchi. this is the email DAM received from tamashii after the event. "Hi Carlos, The face is gonna improve…remember its still a prototype and we are getting similar feedback from Japan side. The most important thing is you definitely stirred some interest. Remember that these wont get to Mexico for another 4months from now and look what you already have- something like over 90 comments in 2hrs on your facebook page- I don’t think even Tamashii Nations HK (with 4500fans on facebook) had that many comments!!!. I was standing by Shingo during the event and he really got a good laugh at the Saorisaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! comment. Thanks again for the updates and staying up late to do this." heres the DAM facebook page. is in spanish, but the letter is in english. www.facebook.com/notes/distribuidora-anim%C3%A9xico/comentario-final-sobre-el-evento-y-update-de-las-figuras/209789659052446cheers guys.

hi mpchi, do you have a link to the translated interview? it will be really apreciated!. Unfortunately, Toysdaily only has the Chinese translation of said article, so not sure if its gonna be of any help. toysdaily.com/discuz/thread-154624-84-2.htmlAdditional to the Crown 12" series info, its planned to focus on the 5 Bronze wearing Gold Cloth, so after Seiya, Shiryu, Shun, Hyoga & Ikki will be next, all wearing the Gold Cloth they borrowed at some point in the show. And the line may stop after that. But there is a possibility on releasing some major characters like Poseidon & Hades. But its unsure at this point.

www.mythcloth.info/OMG... they're full of diecast... However, the colours don't stand out as much as the regular release. This is really tempting... but I already spent all this time and money on the 12 regular ones...
