Oh Im Glad! always like to help when it comes to preservation! Ill do a list of stuff I use here when I can, like waxes, etc. Quick Tip..Its always good to have a cheap featherduster too,you can dust your figures and shelves without having to touch a thing! Even though my Detolfs are sealed with weather sealing strips etc,I still get some dust in,and on top of the shelves..they are a buck at any dollar store! Just dont let the wife catch you !!!

Mhm this thread might prove useful to me as well... I've planned to get a GX-01 in the near future, it's fairly easy to find new ones cheap even near me. But that's the question, even if it was kept in a box for all thes years, that's probably not going to improve the conditions of those parts, right? They'll probably be somewhat sticky (I just hope they don't melt as soon as I unbox the thing...), if that's gonna be the case, I'll have to find myself some of that clear acrilic paint. We'll see

Thanks for making a specific thread for this issue Baron. I better give priority, for the SoCs I want to collect, to the ones that have rubber treads. So I can treat them as quickly as possible. Do the treads still roll nicely after the coating? Oh, also, how did Grendizer's treads end up? You said they were getting grey/white, did the colour turn back to normal after you applied the protectant?

Thanks Baron! Is one bottle enough for all the SOC's on the list or should I buy more than one?

I would think one bottle would do ya. The parts you'd be coating aren't large.

I'd be interested in some of this stuff for the various figures I have with rubber tires. I'll have to look into it.

Yes the color MOSTLY came back, its like this stuff penetrates too, even though ruber isnt pourous! Its realy really worth it!Remember guys if you cant take treads off to coat both sides you can pull treads down and lube with foam top from outside in. I noticed on Grendy treads, only affected area was the part of tread that showed, meaning the part most exposed to air,but to be safe lube everythig,OH and it doesnt affect the rolling of treads, its NOT sticky, think ArmorAll for cars and you get the idea.

Mhm great to hear. If air is the major "agent" in treads wearing off, then I assume that SoCs that have been constantly kept in boxes, or even better, MISB SoCs should have treads in semi-good condition, right? That means that I must look for new unopened ones (if I can find them).

Gummi is the same stuff I use for the weather stripping on my old cars. Keeps water from coming in by keeping the stripping soft and supple over the years. Makes sense this would work well for rubber treads. Word of warning for this application or automotive or otherwise. I saw Armor All mentioned. Steer clear!! It contains silicone and any product with silicone will dry out the item over time. Worse than if it had not been used at all. Gummi obviously contains no silicone.

Yes don't use armor all I was just saying its about the same consistency.Silicone hasn't yet been proven bad for rubber but why take the chance..some say bad some say its not factual in many reviews but still be safe no ArmourAll. This Gummi stuff is indeed used for weatherstripping protection on vehicles just as mentioned.

Baron, bought some of this stuff today, only one past repair is the getter 3 SOC, others will be done just in time. Also if you guys own the CMS Goshogun, those seem to be rubber hands, not PVC so I would do those too
