Bleh...well, this sucks. I've started to slowly unpack the collection I've amassed over the years and I recently got to the large box holding GX-28 Xabungle. One of the red antennas came out of the box snapped on his head and the green on the ship's (it forms the legs) cockpit has flaked off.
Guess there's no preventative maintenance for this. At least I'm hiding the issue by displaying this toy in mech form. :/

with this heat the best thing to do is to put your collection in a refrigerator lol

And oh, the top "cover" for the accessories stand that comes with the Xabungle also had a piece that snapped off. Thankfully, it's underneath and where it attaches to the vertical panel but wow, this SoC is just falling apart on me. Bleh.

Might be some paint/material issue on Bandai's part, not sure. I don't have Xabungle, but my GX-54 Kurojishi has black paint flaking off from some diecast parts, to a point I just put it back in the box in storage and just display the little Tobikage figure only. It was well kept in a closed cabinet with little to no light exposure, but still gone bad.

Yeah, to-date, most of my collection sat MISB in large storage boxes and it was only the last 5 years since I moved to my current place that I've started to slowly unpack them and have the figures displayed. To-date, some of my adventures have been as follows: - This Xabungle and the flaking cockpit and snapped connection on the underside of the accessories rack - CM Corp Brave Gokin GoShogun with a tip of his center horn broken - Bandai GFFMC 1015 RX-0 Unicorn Gundam with one hip plate socket (female) broken - FansToys Scoria without sword (factory miss) - FansToys Grenadier broken mini-gun on head (this is my fault -- careless) - Godaikin Gardian Garbin with a disintegrated knee that I've reconnected but he'll forever be untouched out of fear the knee falls off -- this is apparently a never used toy - Takatoku Orguss Ishkick with both legs broken directly from MISB

DEALING WITH STICKY PLASTIC ON YOUR SOC Recently opened a GX-08MA Aphrodai A that's been in box for 8-10 years. The head and wrist parts are made of PVC and the paint has faded a bit as a result of plasticizers evaporating from the PVC, resulting in globs of orange paint and stickiness. Ugh. I found out from this post on GSC page that it's a result of storing IN BOX for a long time. Well, at least it is somewhat fixable. The paint on the head is not as vibrant as it was 18 years ago (these figures came out in 2004) but it's not terrible. Incredibly the rest of the chrome silver and chrome orange still shines beautifully without degradation or cosmic rust. I want to share the link here because it is good info, in case anyone else has to deal with stickiness issues: mikatan.goodsmile.info/en/2013/06/20/dealing-with-stickiness-on-figures/I dissembled the head by removing screws from the back of the figure, then I used mild dishwashing liquid mixed with warm water, soaked the head for some time and used an extra soft toothbrush to remove the globs. The stickiness is not 100% gone but it is less frustrating to handle without being a dust/fur magnet. As for the wrists I can only do a bit with same dishwashing liquid on Q-tips, since it is attached to diecast forearms and I don't want to risk too much moisture on it.

also the issue with the rubber is on another level of annoying, it made me think as premium rubber is, i prefer using plastic for durability

Sorry to revive an old thread, but just a couple weeks I started to notice both the hands of great Mazinkaiser and Mazinger zer(both SRC’s) are starting to develop a greenish yellowish coat on the hands. Just the hands. Any info on this. So far not sticky but I remember reading this a while ago. I wish I know how to upload pictures on here but it’s pretty noticeable. Thanks for any info 🙏🏻

Thanks for any info 🙏🏻 Should be fine after a wash with soap and water, probably helps with a small tooth brush to get all the grooves. Happened to a few of my SRCs and HMRs (Zero and Dougram came to mind). Just some moldy chemical reaction on the rubbery PVCs after years of display, and stayed clean after a wash. A lot better than the sticky/melty PVC reaction, don't think those are reversible.
