You see, that guy did a review and pointed out both, the good and the bad. He just didn't keep on harping on how a sticker was crooked, or how the paint was not perfectly done inside the cockpit, or how you can see a gap on the lions underside. I truly enjoyed and appreciated this guys' review. Good job! ;D

well if he doesn't have the lions on hand he cant give his on feedback of it right? besides he said he will see this trough to the end. LOL... feedback is one thing, like what the guy in the review above does. However, what Atom does is not feedback, is whining... and everyone knows puppies whine to get attention. Voltron looks great. A few tweaks here and there and it will be a very impressive piece in my collection. ;D }D

If the lions don't lock into place, there will be riots outside the Mattel headquarters. They might as well prepare themselves now if thats the case. Oh, you mean the spring loaded legs... yeah, they suck. Ultimately it's poor design. I don't mind the "idea" of the spring loaded legs, but the application is sketchy to say the least.

Three options: 1. Get a refund. 2. Fix it. 3. Whine about it on the internet. ;D 1. it will never happened because already the majority of people that have the previews lions for more than a month, so those that bought the yellow and blue lions months before are screw. 2. i guess, but how they can accesses the mechanism if there is no way to open it except by force? 3. this is the most logical thing that is gonna happened ;D They might as well prepare themselves now if thats the case. Oh, you mean the spring loaded legs... yeah, they suck. Ultimately it's poor design. I don't mind the "idea" of the spring loaded legs, but the application is sketchy to say the least. no no, i was not referring to the spring mechanic of the other lion's legs, we already now that's a total fail. I was referring to the blue and yellow lion's locking mechanism for when you connect the black lion'ss leg so they hold it in place to form Voltron. That's where for me the Black Lion should have been release first before the limbs, so we can test the connection ports of the shoulders of the black lion when connection the green and red loins to it and the connections port of the blue and yellow lions when connecting the black lion's legs. as for the video, pretty good. looks like his voltron connection port for the red lion is not so strong, he has the castle that my friend has. im really surprise he didn't have the 1999 tredmaster 21" voltron to compare it with as well even though he had a bunch of other voltron figures.

Huh? I read his reviews and and saw his comments on CollectionDX's video blogs. He even went ape sh1t on one of the video blogs. Which I have to admit, it was classic. ;D What other stuff did he not complain about??? Like I said if I had half the problems he has, this subscription was dead and would have gotten my money back period. Well with his Lance/Red Lion review for instance, he has a lot of good things to say. He has nothing bad to say about the terrible range of motion in Lance's knees and elbows. He has nothing bad to say about the fact that Lance's unhelmeted head is inexplicably flat. He's fine with the way Red Lion's legs fold. And most importantly, he's fine with the action feature. Here is a link of Atom's review of Mattel's Red Lion and Lance figure. If you read the review, to refresh your memory, you will see that he did complain about all the stuff that you claim he failed to mention: www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/red_lion_lance

Well if I was Mattel, I will be ready for a mayor lawsuit. And make sure that the fire insurance is up to date. 2. When there is a will, there is always a way. We have many of customizers in this community, who will find a way to fix the wrongs. 3. Atom is way ahead of everybody else. ;D

Here's a true account from the trenches of toy-dom that happened yesterday:
A bunch of neighborhood kids were over yesterday playing with my daughter who is 4, and two of them were boys. They were playing in the other room while I was laying on my bed reading and suddenly they all came it asking if they could use our room for hid and go seek, but then one of the boys noticed the Mattel lions sitting on top of the bookshelf and immediately both of the boys wanted to check them out. Fine... I brought them down and proceeded to show them how they work and all the cool stuff they do. So guess what they thought was BY FAR the coolest thing about the lions? The spring loaded mechanism for the legs.
So it leads me right back to my original perception of these lions. They were originally conceived with a kids toy aesthetic in mind. Whether this is good or bad, yesterday seemed fairly conclusive to me.

well if this was a product for kids then yes i can totally see this selling like hotcakes even with there defects and gimmicks. but sadly since this is a collectors items and only for collectors then i don't see the reason for the gimmicks nor the so many defects.

My guess is that it was designed to market to kids but when talking to toy dealers they couldn't get enough buy in. So instead of scrapping the projects they decided to sell through Matty collector? Pure speculation here.

While the box of the lions state "Adult Collector" on it, that doesn't really mean that the toy shouldn't have gimmicks that kids like. Its like the SOCs that have firing fists and rockets. Agreed, there are some of us collectors that love to shoot those fists and rockets across the room, but really? Anyone willing to scratch or ding up SOC parts just to for fun? Those are kids gimmicks as well and nobody seems to complain much about them, but me. ;D
Let's just enjoy this great figure in a positive way for what it is and disregard the insignificant negatives that come with it. Look at it this way... 2 years ago a pretty decent looking two feet tall combining Lion Voltron with pilots did not exist anywhere. In a couple more days, we shall have it! ;D

I don't think the complaining is so much about the gimmicks themselves, but more about how they aren't well implemented to hold in place for the combined form. But really it's a moot point now. It is what it is, and it's still pretty cool, with defects and all.

I just re-read it and he specifically says the way the legs fold doesn't bother him. He says the range of motion in Lance's knees and elbows is acceptable aside from the issues caused by his Lance having two right thighs. And he doesn't mention Lance's flat head at all. He mentions the action feature inhibiting some of the poseability of Red Lion, but he doesn't complain about it. If you watch the video review he says he's fine with the feature. Did you also miss the part at the end of the text review where he says he loves the lion?

Did you also miss the part at the end of the text review where he says he loves the lion? Just to clarify, from Atom's review: Lance: " Range of motion in the elbows and knees would be acceptable if I had gotten a properly assembled figure." " Not to mention that it has started to exhibit some strange staining/discoloration which has proceeded to become much more noticeable over time." Red lion: " While I love the Lion toy itself and I am still very interested in playing with the assembled Voltron, I can't help but feel I am playing Russian Roulette with their sub-standard quality control and customer serivce." As you can see you did not read carefully. I can go into more detail, but I am done with you. So go ahead and rebuke to your heart's content because I will ignore you from this point on. If you or any one else want the pilots and lions to have respective SHFigurearts and SOC intricate detailing, articulation, and quality then expect to pay at least $200 per lion instead of $55. As for me, I am glad that I will have a Jumbo Voltron with combination gimmick. And I cannot wait for the black lion to arrive.
