Sorry brother, but this figure is heading for toy stores all over. The "Collector Voltron" is the one with the unformed Blazing Sword, but this same figure will be sold as a toy at Toys R Us and the likes of it. $30 for a toy action figure is not uncommon at all. Check out the Transformer toy prices... }D Hmm.. I was pretty sure it was the new voltron based on the new nicktoons that they plan to distribute at mass retail, not this classic one, but even if mattel did release a comic con exclusive at mass retail which I don't remember them doing, it might be a little bit different, not as kiddified as the sdcc version. Might even have metallic paint scheme. I see what you mean with the $30 price tag, however its not the price that's the problem but rather it's the process at how kids can buy something at mattycollector even if its just $1. ;D You'd need adult supervision and such and such, a credit card application will also help a lot. ;D Oh and you'd have to factor in shipping too so pad that $30 a bit more to fatten up mattel's wallet. ;D I know that voltron looks ridiculously like a kid's toy, but you gotta admit, mattel's main target market were the adults who grew up watching the old cartoon. They could have at least tried to put in some shading in those cartoony colors to make it appealing to their target market, but I digress, they just love messin with us. ;D

I'm pretty sure this will not be sold at retail. Maybe if it sold out in 10 minutes online and they knew it would sell even better at retail. But it's been on sale for days on Matty collector. That's bad in their world.

It's the white on the figure that really makes it look a little too plastic-ish. It might have looked better if they put just a drop of grey in the white mix to tone down that white?

I think it is because the paint on it seems to be completely flat, the white and everything else would look so much better if it was glossy instead.

i think the figure is fine as it is, the problem is that its not highlighting the details a bit more like the face for example.
perhaps a bit of Gundam Markers(i think) maybe to highlight the details like this guy did will make it even better
of course it has some minor errors in it but it truly brings the detail out much more. i think ill buy 2 and one will have the detail marks.

Jeez, the guy destroyed the box and took out the sound box! The box itself was an integral part of it being an exclusive...
The panel lining looks awesome, but I think he also sprayed a clear coat on it, look how shinny it is compared to the out of the box one. Looks really good thou!

Based on this review I just ordered one. I agree about the sound box. To each his own. Maybe he'll make a custom base. Once in hand I'm use micro pen on the figure.

23" voltron Not liking the face as voltron looks like he's scared of something. ;D But at least they now painted the face and crest metallic silver. I still think his limbs and head is not proportional to his body. The 8" voltron looks better by a mile than this one, I'm more convinced not to buy this unless I want some big individual lions to display, but If I want voltron I'm gonna stay away from this one.

I agree that his expression looks corny.
Other than that, I love it!

...im sorry but it looks kinda bad...
- the blue and yellow lion making the legs are way to small in the overall look of Voltron. heck, the green and red lion are bigger than they are. - Voltron's head looks kinda huge in comparison to the entire proportion of the body, but i love that his face is painted silver to break the white, but i wish it was a little lighter. the sculpt itself of the face is kinda awkward(is it just me or is he sad?) - I don't like that silver paint on his chest, is not making the crest simbol stand out more but rendering it. - The Black Lion's Leg joints looks really weird open like that.

Trying hard really to resist saying something about this. But being a Voltron fan, I am more than disappointed with these current Voltron figures. The positives I see from this, almost 2 feet tall. Each Lion has a pilot inside. The bad, Cockpit is lacking detail. The sculpt is butt ugly. Really dumb gimmicks with them keys. Seriously, key to the ass of a lion to get them to spring out the legs, weird+++. Now the hip on the black lion with all them gaps. Are they supposed to be gaps there?

really dont understand why they made a voltron so fugly.....if they made this during the 80's maybe this could have been a Big hit...but with so much newer and nicer toys coming out (in terms of design and articulation)....i dunno....fans have grown over the years and they would expect Voltron to be looking really nice....for me the best ever Voltron toy that came out was the Toynami masterpiece.....nice sculpt and die cast as well....

If I scored this Voltron right now I'd probably hack the hell out of it to make it look better that what we're seeing in that pic... so, chalk one up for Plastic, because RESIN modifications will be this toy's saving grace when I get done with it.
Butt, until Then, I'll hold off on this one. I've got too many other schtuff to worry about and finish up on. ;D
Nice metallic face, though. But the "fraidy-cat" expression Gotta Go.

On a second thought..... I'm keeping my eye out for any Voltron toy merchandise possibility at MickeyD's or Burger King... if those fast-food franchises can manage to score a license to sell Voltron toys, I'm goin in with guns drawn and totebag wide open to snatch up some Voltron Happy Meal toys. I don't expect them to be of "Collectors Grade" value or quality... ...They may even look cheaply made... ...I just wanna bump soccer-moms outta my way so I can snatch 'em up. ;D

No way I pass up anything Voltron related, but I find room to complain.
-Hips are black and small -face is a bit off -arm lion legs dont fold all the way up and whats with the angular shaped legs? -the leg lions look like theyre watching porn for the first time.
In watching the interview with that guy who heads the design, he didnt seem to have been really into Voltron as a kid, this is from a couple of comments I gathered this. If I were head of design, I would never approve this, I would see too many things wrong as a fan. Maybe it's impossible to do this robot justice? Toynami came closest but as usual there were things that could have been different.
