DOE,
Your Mekanda is looking spectacular!! I really hope you can find another neckpiece for him. He is a super rare!! Do some research, try to find all posts where the word 'Mekanda' is used. You might be able to find another Mekanda owner who is willing to loan you the piece. It's going to take a lot of work on your behalf, but it is well worth it!!

Hi Mark, its really a kind gesture from you, appreciate. I can only show you the complete one from Kitsir's "friend" (hope he dont mind) as I cant really find any pictures online...even the review piece on collectiondx is also missing the blue collar.. here it goes...i see from this pic the collar seemed to be joined by a left-right piece as I see a split in the middle? The exact dimension I dont really knows...I guess the only person that can help me with that is kitsir since he saw the real thing before ..hope he reads this ;D

Awesome find and sorry about your piggy bank.
I remember the last one on ebay, it went for a hefty price. Congrats.

Hi bourno,
thanks for the info and also the condolences for my piggy bank! Since you are also one of the repro expert, what information do you think you need to repro one of the collar piece? Like what measurement you need and any drawings? cheers, d.o.e

I would start with a piece of thick cardboard and start trimming away until it would fit nicely into the slot all the way. Then mark where the bends are at on the front and backside. This would provide a nice flat pattern for the U portion of the piece.
Would be good to have a straight on shot of the front and back with a ruler to know the width of the angle slots. Would be nice to know if the original piece used that whole angle width space.
I assume the front and back slot areas look the same.

bourno: that seems a very difficult process to me because i am total newbie in repro. That collar piece seems symmetrical to me, left right and front back. I will gather as much info as possible and any experts here that can help feel free to add in. kitsir: thank you for the additional pics, i got a better idea of how the collar looks like now...But you saw the real thing before, any chances you can repro one without the original..out of your own imagination and memory? I will confirm coming for the decals and box repro from you, any pics of the missiles as well? isit the same as the popys? hahaha ;D

hi, im not quite dream team material for repro stuff. i think that list really belongs to the other four towers of might you mentioned.
im stubborn and start from scratch, yielding hopefully satisfactory results, but hard to nail 100%.
the other pics help a lot with the frontal view. i would need measurements of width around the neck, and the width of the entire piece. maybe a photo from above would help, too.
i could make a version of it in maybe an hour or so and cast it with an uncut bottom so you could cut it to match the exact width of the neck.
OR if you could hold up a piece of paper to the chest where it is missing and rub a pencil over it to get a negative of the detail, i could get the exact size that way and eyeball the rest. i like to work in primitive ways like that.
if it works, awesome. if not, you could throw it away and tell me it wasnt good enough. lol.
bourno, any suggestions on what color combo to use in the resin to get "jumbo blue?" if i make that piece, im at least 2 weeks out to start any new projects. PM me.

Here is a blurry shot of what I meant with the cardboard. When trimmed out, it will fit snug into the groove. You could then use a pencil to mark the outside edge on the cardboard as well.

Here is the cardboard piece removed. With a rule added into the photo, would now have the inside width and curve of the Mekanda slot. And if you pencil lined the outside edge, then would have the depth of the slot. Just need some photos with a ruler for the width of the slot.
For the jumbo baby blue, I haven't needed to make that color yet. As I use a resin that turns white when it cures, hard to say how much blue drops to add to "X" amount of resin.
Being a lighter color, I think I could mix up a small batch with part A with white dye with one drop of blue and smear it onto a paper towel and add more white till it looks pretty close. Mix it up, pour some out and let it harden up to see the final result.

Voltes is a super awesome jumbo! I never realized how awesome it was until recently. I hope that one comes up for auction soon or a private collector is reading this and looking to sell his!
How often does a Voltes V come up for auction? Is my search futile?
