If anyone here has in input on the Photon lab, please let me know, maybe better pix, even from the Mazinkaiser OVA...

Does anyone have any good pix, of any of the labs/ bases used by the super robots of the 70's and 80's ? I must have watched 6 episodes of steel Jeeg, speeking in Japaneese and sub-titled in spanish  ?? and there was not one shot of the base...... Any help PLEASE...maybe I should start a new thread for this.....hmmmmm maybe ? |

Thank you, maybe some one has a manga that has a good picture of it ? I was thinking about buying some vintage comic books for the pictures of the labs/ bases but dont know which ones to buy ? and help out there |

I wouldnt use the manga drawings as they tend to be pretty bad. Are you going to make the Great Mazinger's Fortress of Science? How about some of the bad guys fortresses, like the Flying Fortress Gool (Hikou Yousai Guuru), Submarine Fortress Salude (Kaitei Yousai Salood), Submarine Fortress Bood (Kaitei Yousai Buudo), Fortress Mikelos (Ban-nou Yousai Michelos - –œ”\—vÇ ƒ~ƒPƒƒX), Invincible Fortress Demonika (Muteki Yousai Demonica –³“G—vÇ ƒfƒ‚ƒjƒJ), etc? I personally would rather buy an enemy fortress than an actual robot base. |

I had to watch 70 some episodes of mazinga z / tranzor z to get the photon base you see here.... You would think there would be an easier way....and if someone has it...PLEASE share it..LOL  |

As for doing the evil villain fortress, I would build one in a heart beat...just get me some pix, and we can talk price....Size matters too, what size base do you want ? n scale, one for 3" figures...5" figures..bigger ? But there is not much I cant build.
I wish I would of had my Vacuum form built before I started the Photon lab, so I could have made all the parts in plastic , instead of wood. But I covered the surface with a light weight filler, to hide the wood grain, so it's hard to tell what it's built from.

Got the latest pics of the Photon Lab... AWESOME! I sent you a reply a couple of minutes ago, hope you read it soon. Bro, an Enemy Fortress Salude or Mikeros would be so awesome, I can't find words to describe it. My only concern is that they would be pretty heavy if made out of wood, since the ones I would ask for are about the same size or a little bigger than the Photon Lab. ;D And of course, I would definitely hang them from the ceiling hovering right above the Lab. }D |

Awesome pictures there Baron, That Jeeg base looks pretty easy...the dome will be the most time consuming. But not really that bad...I bet I could even make the dome light up !! I bet that would look awesome with Jeeg standing beside it, at night..
What size would that base need to be, to compare to the size of Jeeg ? Can he fit in the dome in the show ?
I would like to thank everyone who has helped me here, and put in their opinion. It means a lot to me.

Well I sketched up some of Dr.Hell's evil Fortresses, and I'll post them here, and soon as I touch them up. I bet I could build them out of foam, so they are light enough to hang from a ceiling ? Which fortress was under water, and had an island attached to it ?

YES!!! ;D That Island/Sub fortress is the SALUDE. Foam is a great idea, not only for hanging from the ceiling, but also to keep shipping weight down! ;D }D |

Now I need to find a company that sells large blocks of foam ? The Home Depot doesn't sell them, nor does Lowes....so I'm kinda lost on where I can get some ? Any help out there? Because I would really like build the SALUDE, I think that one looks the coolest... But to make it from wood.......Hmmmm, wait a second, maybe Balsa wood ? That stuff is super light, and comes in lots of shapes and sizes..and it's easy to work with !! YES...I think that will work, now I just need to try it !! Thanks for letting me talk it through...LOL |

Oh, I thought you were going to use Expanding Foam and then shape it as needed. Balsa wood is fine, but is a little expensive and very fragile. }D |
