Now I need to find a company that sells large blocks of foam ? The Home Depot doesn't sell them, nor does Lowes....so I'm kinda lost on where I can get some ? Any help out there? Arts and craft stores like AC Moore, Michaels, Ben Franklin, etc or art supply stores should have foam blocks or shapes - I'd look everywhere from kids crafts and science projects to floral etc as different sizes and types of foam would probably not all be in the same area.

Well here are the sketches I promised...now remember, they are just quick sketches, I will go back and do a better, more detailed drawing before I start working on a project. I also like to find different pictures to go off of, when I did the Photon lab, I actually combined about 8 different labs to come up with one....In the early episodes, they changed how the lab looked almost every day..which made for a pain in the arse... Well tell me if I'm close on the sketches or if I need to go back to the drawing board....and if you have better shots, PLEASE post them...Thank you all....

Does anyone know who's base this is ? I had saved this photo of a toy, and it didnt have any name on it, so I sketched it, and now I'm clueless as to who's base / Fortress this is ?

Any luck at the types of stores I mentioned? We always used to go there when we had to make dioramas for projects back in elementary school.
We would get the flat styrofoam boards and stack them, using glue or toothpicks to hold them together in layers, then we would cut and sculpt and shave the design we needed. Then depending on the type of landscape, we would take plaster of Paris (mixed it thicker than normal) and pour that over to make our "base" layer of land. Then we could paint with acrylics and/or add whatever landscape features we wanted. They hold up well for a really long time if you keep them clean and free of dust and debris.

I hope to get to the crafts store tomorrow...got too busy today, and didn't make it. What type of glue works best on styrefoam ? I know some type of paints eat right through it, so the type of glue to use would really make a big difference !!!!

I know some type of paints eat right through it, so the type of glue to use would really make a big difference !!!! They may have a craft glue or you could use hot glue as well. It really depends on what type of bond you are looking for. If you are layering, that's why I mentioned the toothpicks. But you may also get lucky and find some large or thick foam to sculpt out, so you may not even need a lot of glue.

Oh yeah! The Photon Lab is done, but aside from Storm Sandy's wrecking havoc, finding a way of getting it shipped for a reasonable price is kicking our butts. I'm out of toen until next week, and hopefully we should be able to get it to me soon after. Anyway, that's why I asked him to post some pics here for you guys to see. }D
