In terms of build quality, Star Saber will win.

Really glad I got this one. I've honestly lost most of my interest in transformers from all the complaining of the transformers community but I always wanted the g1 version as a kid. Takatomy QC still sucks but its still great. MP-24 Starsaber by siningy, on Flickr

I rarely buy a Transformer. This thing is awesome. It's a little light for the size but it's massive and well made and lots of fun. And yes displays well with my Gokins and Brave robots. Def my favorite Masterpiece so far. A close second is Grimlock.

Just got mine This toy is really for the fans of the serie... Transformation is simple : carrier is a robt with retractabled arms touching the knees... What a lack of paint apps, seriously ! This MP really need reprolabels add-on. Imo 3rdP companies going to MP are way higher to the official products, fantoys, Gigapower and Badcube on the lead ! Ok : "oh nice, a tiny jet which can dock to a carrier/booster"...

I take a closer look on everything. Shape is nice, but waht a lack of engineering. The "robot-jet" Saber is very poor : only wings and fins fold back. Silhouette is not good. We are far from regular G1 MP line. Shogo Hasui need to take control Mine has no qc issue but I am only disapointed. For sure some labels will give it a nice final look. Any 3rd P could have designed it so far better than this. Anyway, fans wanted it, they elected it and got it.

I handled a star saber over the weekend. He seems okay. He's just a bit ... boring. To be fair, he's exactly what the designer set out to make - a poseable, playable rendition of Star Saber who at his core has a very simple transformation. It's just not all that exciting and he has a plasticy hollowness and general cheap feel that just doesn't feel very premium to me.
It probably didn't help that he was right next to MP Magnus who has chunky die-cast feet, a complex but satisfyingly well designed transformation and a really great presence.

I like the way he looks but he does feel a little cheap. Transformation is very simple but like quinjester mentioned, that's what the designers were aiming for. He doesn't look out of place with some of the super robots though because of his colors.

"Fwoooooosssh" One thing's for sure, when/if they make a Masterpiece Victory Leo, I'm so getting rid of the Robot Masters Victory Saber. I take a closer look on everything. Shape is nice, but waht a lack of engineering. The "robot-jet" Saber is very poor : only wings and fins fold back. Silhouette is not good. We are far from regular G1 MP line. Shogo Hasui need to take control To be honest, Star Saber is based on a very late Transformer (1989) compared to pretty much every other Masterpiece in the line, coming from a period where the whole "robots in disguise" aspect was thrown out in favour of facilitating a gimmick (in this case, the Brainmaster) in the transformation, all of which were stupidly simple - some of the Headmasters were pretty much just giant micromasters in terms of engineering. The only parts where the MP is more complicated than the original are to facilitate the added articulation. So it's not lazy engineering if it was intended to be like that...?

... So it's not lazy engineering if it was intended to be like that...? Agree, but some parts coulded move a bit to extand in ship mode and retract in robot mode, ect. same with canons, antenna... Finally, it looks good with other MPs.

He is a big bugger but I just chalk it up to Transformers getting larger with each generation until they became to big and were reformatted as Maximal and Predacons to become more efficient.
