It's kind of sad, the only reason I even started watching the Brave shows was in preparation for GGG coming out, which I fully intended to buy then - but now that I've finally reached the series it's featured in, other priorities have taken over, and I just don't want to dedicate that much money for it and all it's add-ons.
Maybe if I hadn't skipped it when it first came out, I probably would've found it much easier to convince myself to buy the SP add-on in spite of the outrageous price tag.

Personally, while Gaogaigar was a pretty good series, the popularity only sky-rocketed with the Final OVA. As for base series, Brave Police J-Decker is my personal favorite as the human and robot character dynamic was best shown in that series. Plus despite me being a huge fan of The Brave Series, I admit, some series I liked for their respective toylines than the actual show. Brave of Gold Goldran and to a lesser extent Might Gaine are examples. Now if only there was either a DX Battle Bomber set I can find or some 3rd party company to make it real.

Yeah, Might Gaine was kind of lame, especially since it came right after J-Decker which was easily the most intense Brave series I'd seen until I started GGG.
It was still better than Transformers Victory tho.

It was still better than Transformers Victory tho. Victory suffers from poor pacing of the first half as the plot seems to aimlessly wander around the MotW territory with a narrative coming second at that time. You see that with Exkaiser and Fighbird. But with Might Gaine I feel legitimately conflicted as some of the villains and thus their episodes can be really good. With Doctor Wolfgang and his crew and Ace Joe being my favorite parts of that series. But then you get to the episodes with Weeaboo Shogun and Catherine Vuitton and those tend to be the WORST episodes in the series if not the worst of all Braves. And I just got back from Brave of Gold Goldran. Highest ratings my ass. But yeah, at least with the Wapanese Shogun, some of his episodes not entirely featuring said boss have been rather good. With Luna and the young Samurai clone episodes being surprisingly good. But Catherine Vuitton, she can rot in the deepest circles of Hell.

That wasn't really my issue with Victory, although the bland and repetitive storytelling during the first half didn't help developing an intense dislike towards the series; it was the way the characters were handled. The Autobots were literally just tokens with not one personality among them. The closest thing to an actually likeable character among them is the Multiforce, and they're basically treated as their equivalent of the Dinoforce, a joke. With that combined with the part where the bad guys make up for the heroes' lack of personality in spades, it's almost impossible to not root for the Decepticons instead, so watching them lose repeatedly becomes increasingly frustrating. Not just them losing, but even failing to come off as some kind of a menace that'd justify Star Saber & co's constant tirades about justice and fighting evil and all the usual heroic nonsense. Even Fighbird made me at least root for the heroes solely because it managed to make the villain unpleasant enough!

I can definitely say that Liokaiser is the most powerful Combiner Team and one of the most powerful Decepticons of the entire Transformers franchise.

I'm not exaggerating when I say watching Deszaras trash Star Saber in that one episode was tremondously satisfying.
Also we're getting way off topic.

yup... and definitely waayy cheaper. speaking of hammer.. Goldymarg.. has anyone tried using Takara/Sonokong's much older 2k-3kyen version of Goldymarg as a replacement for SOC Goldymarg.. might work. I sold mine years ago. but more likely it wont fit.. or atleast what he look like just holding it with his bare hands lol Nah. Charles from OptimusPrimeSG has proven that the connection for the DX toy from the 90s was too big and barely fits over the connection for SoC Gaogaigar. The CM's Corp release also does not fit so no Gadget Tools either. too bad. well...

Now that we've got this nice SoC, is there any market for the old CMs GGG+Upgrade set? Started thinking about selling mine...

Maybe 5 years down the road for either. Depending on the annual output of future SoCs as well as whatever known Robots Bandai has yet to do and is willing to try.

Thinking if I should get this or not, I would have to get the whole set and that would cost mucho $$$$$$.

Heck, even Grendizer feels a bit forgotten by now.

I dont care for Energers...or Mazinkaisers to be exact, anymore even if its a SOC, Aoshima already did a fine job for me. Some say Sentinel did it better.. which is is true but its for an acquired taste.. and i dont like the dark faceplate. If youre looking for poseabilty.. theres already SRCs for you. Newer mechs such as Voltron and Daizyujin are a welcome sight. If youre a Mazinger collector.. or perhaps a SOC purist.. i would understand that. As for Grendizer.. countless take by different companies had been done.. just choose your poison hehe.. but if youre looking for a defining, absolute, ultra, ulitmate version hehe… just wait for the DX.

actually Grendizer doesn't have alot of great releases in my opinion there is only 3 figures that worth getting
the classic GX-04S, the SRC anime color with the Spazer & Fewture Grendizer, i totally understand if some dont like Fewture Grendizer for the design or the insane asking price at the moment but along with the others they are the best Grendizer figures you can buy
the ET is version is not that good CMs was great but ton of QCs
sadly in general Grendizer doesn't get the attention he deserve, his 40th anniversary went by just like any day
hope for a DX release but not anytime soon

Given as long as that series is not named Mazinger.. its all uncertain. Even then, has there been any Soul of Chogokin figures for Mazinkaiser or Energer Z? Heck, even Grendizer feels a bit forgotten by now. They've mostly been trending towards using the SOC line for the classic combining and transforming robots in recent times, and the SRC line for the more fixed look robots that greatly benefit from the added articulation. Yeah there are exceptions such as the forthcoming Maz Z, but by and large that seems to be the pattern. SRC has had I believe 5 Mazinkaiser variants released. While doing a SOC version might bring a different sculpt, I am not sure exactly what you could bring to the table feature wise that would be substantially different from the SRC offerings? (OK spring firing rocket punch instead of the posed effects part ones. That's about it.) Similarly while GX-04S is the classic, honestly I think the newer SRC Grendy with Spazer is overall the better rendition. It's the first time the robot is properly scaled to the Spazer, and fits inside smoothly without parts forming, transformation, collapse or disassembly. As far as GGG? The main robot isn't too bad price wise. And you can even get Goldymarg dirt cheap. The only over the top expensive piece is the Japan Exclusive Stealth Gao upgrade set. Which is a "nice to have" but not entirely critical. Or just get the SRC's which can be found cheaply and look gorgeous.
