Wow, that Hound and Chromedome looks fantastic. MakeToys just seems to have sculpts that really appeal to me...

I'm liking this more than badcube's offering. The insect legs are longer and you have option parts to replace them. They're also not as stocky as the badcube ones.
Can't wait to see how these guys turn out to be.

I don't like Evila Star's head. It's too wide. Chigurh has better robot mode, sans feet, but Evila Star wins in the alternate modes. Masterpiece class engineering though.

Agree... Bot are giving a good "point of view" of thr character.. Check this : More about Fanstoys Reflector : First run will have a mini version of the alt mode. Versus KFCToys Reflectron - Cotta, Phuji, and Nikron (At 16cm with ABS and Diecast material).

The Evila Star really gives the impression of a larger, better Classics style Astrotrain rather than an MP, despite his size. It's neat, but not something I'm particularly interested in (un)fortunately(?)

Note that Maketoys uses a Japanese Willys for their alt mode, so the windscreen with rounded edges are accurate. I hope they're not too expensive. IMHO, for Detective's robot mode, TFC is taking too much liberty with the character design.

It's about going MP for the scale but with a style/interpretation or going MP to match official MP line and cartoon design... Imo, Devilstar is small :

Astrotrain should be Soundwave size and bulky.

Digibashed : Diaclone colors that purists want : Imo, purple is quite enough to create an Insecticon crew. I wish they produced as a bundle of 3 to reduce costs, price, shipping...

It'll be a shame if people end up dismissing the Badcube Insecticons offhand because of of the FT name attached to this figure. Transformation wise, the BC version is a lot more interesting as it manages to have both the purple insect mode and the grey robot chest without forcing you to pick which one you want (like the FT version). Granted, it's not quite as svelte as a result, but I tend to like it more when a company is ambitious and swings for the fences (even if they might miss the mark a bit) vs. playing it conservatively and taking an easier route.

(Already discussed in a 3rd party FB group) The Badcube version sticks a lot to the cartoon design : see chest and thighs... Fanstoys is going to adapt to a more dynamic shape. Their hips joints are defined differently. Badcube choosed a ball joints style system and limits the legs angle. Imo BC should reduce head a bit to give a perfect match. Those are good competitors and provide intersting debates
