If you don't get it now, it will just get more expensive after. Expect recolors to be made as well. Right now there are a few places with heavy preorder discounts so it may be worth it if you really want it.

They just dropped it $100 on preorder. I am not sure if they were trying to gouge at 360usd, or they did not have the accurate price yet. I still think 260 is on the high side, but its more possible. If they recolor, I think I'd like another to go with my moon base version.

No preorders yet on the Japanese sites.
But, from what I'm reading, this is 100% plastic...? No gokin? Ouch.

Got mine in from Nippon Yasan. Kinda pricey for an all-plastic toy but my love of Diaclone took over.

Wow, to me this is simply off the hook I wish kids today can also experience the magic of growing up with these amazing toys, playing with friends, pretending to destroy imaginary monsters But given the steep price point, I'm guessing only those with collector parents can afford one. Heck, not even sure if boys these days still play with figures

So those of you who've got one of these, are they worth it?

So those of you who've got one of these, are they worth it? I have the moon base version. I really like it. I think its clever, and lots of detail. That said, I do not think it was worth the $160 or so price tag. Its smaller MP TF sized or small 1/100 gundam sized, and no diecast. For as cool as it is, I think 100-120 is a better price point. That is why it will likely be my only one from this line. I think the concept is cool, but since I am cutting down on my toy spending, there are better figures in that price range. The only advantage these have are their playability factor. I think those who grew up with this would be more than willing to spend the asking price, but for those with no emotional attachment, the price just isn't as ideal. I think the perfect example of price ratio is their mech suits. They are cool, but they are not $40 cool.

Thanks coldiron. Aren't the normal version only 13,500 yen or so, which is roughly $120 USD? Likewise, the powered system sets C and D are about 2700 yen each, which is about $25. It's still pricey for what it is but the ability to interact with other diaclone releases is the selling point. I just ordered the space version diabattle. I like the space version's paint scheme and extras but had to fork up more for it. I'm still debating whether to get the big powered, which looks a like a lot of fun. I don't "play" with my toys but the big powered seems to be able to bring the kid out of me, which is a good thing! I look forward to seeing what else TT has in store in the future. Otherwise who've got one, please share pictures and thoughts!

Otherwise who've got one, please share pictures and thoughts! I hadn't checked the Japanese prices, just the US shops that carry them. Those prices you listed are much more fair. The shops here sell them for more, and are the reason I don't have more. I think the space version is the best of the 3, but it was not out when I got mine. I think the best feature about them is their playability. Even if you don't "play" with them, you will want to put different configurations on your shelves, which is a nice feature.

My space version Diabattle came in and I was initially not impressed. However after spending some time with it I grew to appreciate it. I liked it enough to order the big powered! It's really quite cleverly designed in terms of how there are so many ways one could configure each mode. The interaction between releases is another major selling point. I only one one powered suit to go with it and it's already provided much more play value. Anyway here is my contribution of its decked out mode. Lol.

I'm curious what the biggest "unimpressed" item is. Is it size or weight? My finding is that newer toys just are smaller.... there isn't a substitute for size along with weight. E

I'm curious what the biggest "unimpressed" item is. Is it size or weight? My finding is that newer toys just are smaller.... there isn't a substitute for size along with weight. E I was initially not impressed mainly due to the diaclone soldier figures, which seemed small and flimsy. I was surprised that the robot mode actually doesn't utilize the cockpits of 2 out of 3 vehicles, but later on realized that this fact actually adds play value to the set. The ankle joints were somewhat loose, giving the robot mode a little stability issue. The figure overall is slightly smaller than I had expected, and is all plastic. I knew about the lack of diecast so it's just as advertised. I don't mind the size since I don't have enough room anyways! After spending some time with it, and (grasp!) letting my 4-year old play with it a little, I realized the high play-value of the set. With only 1 powered suit that I purchased separately, there were plenty of interactive things one can do. The little diaclone soldiers were also able to withstand my child's handling. So at the end of the day my only gripe was the loose ankles. I look forward to Big Powered!

Big powered came in. It's smaller than my imagination but it's packed with features and very fun. It's my second night with it and I still haven't tried out all the modes on the manual, let alone spending time to create my own. Anyways, I forgot to take pictures until I got to base mode tonight. So here it is with the space diabattle.

I realize by now that nobody on RJ really cares about Diaclone. But it really is quite a charming line. This line is meant to be played with instead of just going into the display case. Anyway, thought I'd share this newly release video showcasing all the diaclone toys released to date. Pretty cool vid!
