because the G1 cartoon was full of animation errors many times you saw decepticons mixed in autobots crowds and vice versa as well as the wrong Faction Symbols on the robots as well as color errors it was very common place they were actually the same size. i love how we still get the little tank thing with the launcher on the Mp like it used to be on the G1 figure

Well that diamond look is correct it is also very 80's but Ironhide is one of those characters that has the biggest design change from the actual G1 toy.

It's not the diamond crotch that bothers me, I don't even care about the sideskirts. It's that only in some of the pictures, the figure looks "broken" and disjointed. The 3P ones have better silhouettes, IMHO.

I do wish the side skirts wasn't red perhaps there's a way to remove them in the final product. Really looking forward to seeing how takara tackles this one.

Is that red platform used to display the accessories just a red platform to homage the original G1 figure, or is it part of the transformation?

After seeing the newer pictures, I warmed-up to Ironhide's design, particularly after seeing the front, side and back side view of the figure. Doesn't seem to be too bad in a neutral pose, although I wonder if it's still looks broken when posed in a dynamic stance.
The red sideskirt should've been designed to swing up to fill the wheel well gap on the side of the torso, though - but it would've mean that the figure will lose most of the waist rotation. It would also give the illusion that the torso tapers down from the top to bottom to give him a more athletic build.

I Agree, the 3rd party Ironhides that are out there I like better then the "official" Takara one. TFC's offering is to chunky for me. I have the iGear Specialist and Medic for my Ironhide and Ratchet. But still on the fence about buying the "official" ones.

I'm still liking the MP version the best, the others are to IDW or video game inspired which I could care less about. Plus I'm betting the official one will come with twice the accessories and still cost less then the 3rd party versions. I have the Igear one and as soon as the MP version comes out I'm painting the helmet black and turning the igear one into one of Ironhide's security forces.

Tfc put some effort but still keep legs as a wide brick.

Not that things will change from this point on, but upon closer look, the two minor things I'll change on MP Ironhide is reduce the whole 'diamond crouch diaper' and minor tweak on the face. Like just make the face slightly heroic and more attractive. I like the rest and the overall proportion.
Looks like another preorder for me.

MP Iron Hide looks fantastic, cant wait to have it. Good thing I didnt succumb to 3rd parties thou they look real beefier & nice as well!

i think the issue is the side panel on the waist. there intrusive to ironhides design and its funny that takara was unable to put it away like some 3rd party are able to.
