VF-31 has gunpods integrated in its forearms. Also, it has missile ports on its legs, which the VF-25, VF-27, and YF-30 didn't have.

Interesting, but not interested in it enough. Maybe one of the inevitable variants. I'm curious about the Draken's other forms, though.

So how does this new series fit in with the rest of Macross timeline?

^ It takes place 8 years after Frontier.
Looking at the display with the three modes, I noticed that the fighter and gerwalk modes have the ordnance container that the YF-30 has but is not deployed or taken out in the battroid mode.
The trailer also shows the ordnance container in battroid mode but its details are obscured by the sun's glare.
The faction with the Drakens gave me a medieval vibe. I wonder if it's a recycled from a concept that Kawamori had when he was involved in an anime project that would eventually become Escaflowne. It was tentatively titled, Air Cavalry Chronicles, and had knights piloting variable fighters armed with swords. The antagonist VFs have Germanic names (some of them became the Varauta VFs from Macross 7).

I like it but it's really similar to the Frontier designs.

I really like the dark grey with gold trim one..... Not a fan of character design tho.

I like it but it's really similar to the Frontier designs. Agree. But i find this design more appealing to me than the sv-262. Also, i thought macross numbering for forward-swept wings configuration starts with a "Y" as in YF-XX rather than a VF. But i could be mistaken though.

The YF-21, YF-24 and YF-27 don't have forward-swept wings. The "YF" designation is used for prototypes, not for variable fighters with forward-swept wing configurations.

Make sense, thanks for the correction
