I see at least 7 Jet Scrander wing plates. Maybe that's what's making the box so big.

I love the look of this Mazinger, Maz to me, because of being the first true SR was on the slim side with later SR's getting beefier and more "muscular". Now I really can't wait for hopefully the new Great Mazinger, Grendizer, and Getter Robo's!

LOLZ But seriously though, the 40th Anniv GX-01 is only half the width of that box. Wishful thinking: I hope Bandai throws in a book/manga, or maybe even a Blu-ray disc you are right, maybe because of that huge stand that come with it, the accessories and the DX style packaging i wish they include that too or drawings for the first prototype with couple of art works (illustrations) like the DX Great Mazinger

i was really curious about how the eyes will change colors, its one of the main reason i PO this release however in this photo we see another head also from the photos i understand its an SOC with SRC joints not a bad mix at all EDIT i guess the box is big because they packed it DX style or maybe that chick is really tiny Another head? you mean that extra face with the eyes "off"..... that's an option to display this Mazinger figure as "robot inactive", Mazinger's eyes are off when the Pilder is undocked and he's stationed inactive inside his hangar. In some episodes throughout the series whenever the Pilder was undocked from the head Mazinger would shut down ("off")... as in, "dead machine"... ...I'm referring in particular to some of the battle scenes where Kouji was forced to undock the Pilder during an evasive maneuver to avoid enemy attacks. Otherwise, the eyes Off was the standard protocol whenever Maz was inactive in his hangar. I know, it's a weird philosophical perspective, but I like that idea of a pilot bringing a robot to "life" by merging with it via a vehicle that functions as the robot's "brain" (actually, Kouji is the Brain in this case). Members here showed me pics of this GX-70 in PM and I'm impressed... ...I have to admit I like THIS sculpt much better than the GX-01/01R sculpt; even the feet sculpt on this one looks anime-correct! High-Five for Bandai doing a great job on this new Maz SOC! zozo-mag

yes an extra head not just a face like the DX but a complete head, honestly i wanted a different approach than this and yes you are right in some episodes Kouji undock from Mazinger z ( Pilder off ) which switch Mazinger eyes off, i dont see it weird at all, think about it as a head light lol worth to mention that in one of the episodes Mazinger z was able to move on its own to help Kouji to dock with it

Hmmm, just noticed now, the Pileders on the tray seem to have different sizes. The Pileder on the right is bigger than the one on the left? Either the one on the left is a swappable base for the main Pileder on the right, or it's just Bandai's way of dealing with anime magic

yes an extra head not just a face like the DX but a complete head Are you talking about the GX-70? From the pics it looks like just a face plate that includes the horns, not a complete head.

yes the GX-70 and at first i thought the same but i was looking at this photo and i noticed the head is a one piece mold, there isn't any separation lines in it like the DX when you attache a face plate, it also looks like the head is removable but again this is only my point view, correct me if im wrong

This looks awesome!! Just like a bigger deluxe version of the original SRC which I think is the most accurate figure so far.
I'm just hoping for some action possibility. I'll be disappointed if the articulation isn't there. Also we could really do with some FX accessories!!

You could be right, but what about this pic, the bottom row, next to the stomach missile? Isn't that a face plate? Also, the AmiAmi listing says: "Set includes face part before the attachment of Pilder." www.amiami.com/top/detail/detail?gcode=FIGURE-022403&page=top%2Fsearch%2Flist%3Fs_keywords%3Dgx-70%24pagemax%3D40%24getcnt%3D0%24pagecnt%3D1

that's the photo i posted bro lol, of course i looked at it it indeed looks like a face plate, but its hard to till because of the lights and the angle, yet i still think its deep enough to hold a complete head not just a face plate, maybe they came up with a new way for changing face plates ? maybe its a head ? guess we will find out when we get it

I guess we will see.
Personally, I would prefer an extra head over an extra face plate. If it's a face plate, I hope it's not a flimsy one that falls off anytime you look at it wrong.

Yeah that's definitely a faceplate with the eyes in "off" mode. Disappointed a bit that they could'nt pull of this gimmick by inserting the pilder to make the eyes turn yellow. Well anyways this is still my favorite soc mazinger sculpt. I hope they redesign the other go nagai bots and give them the movie proportions so this new soc mazinger doesn't look odd standing next to the older versions.

so many, many rumors on this figure and most of them wrong. this happens when nobody wants to wait until it is released and reviewed by the buyers in japan and hong kong which will get it first. be patient people!

I know, right? Buncha nerds. I for one am gonna go do what popular, cool people do: Put on my glasses and pocket protector, dust off my SOCs, then go watch a Scifi movie, followed by video game playing, all while drooling over anime females wearing skimpy stuff.
