Yup, he scammed me to. Told me the item was in stock. I ordered the item, then after a week of not responding, he finally responded and said he doesn't have the item? !!!. I asked for a refund but he said sorry sales are final. Had to do a chargeback on my card. Aawwwwwww no good man! Not your fault with its not in stock after you paid - did you get your money back? Yeah, Used American Express and their pretty good at refunding your money back.

So, is this in danger of not being released or some etailers not carrying it? Or both?
I'm in a weird position to where I sold my v1 with confidence that this would come out at some point. Does anyone talk to MadToy/Whatever their name is today directly?

Does anyone talk to MadToy/Whatever their name is today directly? It's Icarus Toys. They haven't said anything about KoB since February on their Facebook page. I think the only seller still listing it is LCMToys. BBTS told me they pulled the listing and cancelled all preorders when they found out Icarus lied about it being licensed product. It wouldn't surprise me if other more reputable merchants did the same. I don't see a lot of listings for Icarus stuff anywhere after the Getter Arc. I'm betting 2 weeks to yet another company name change. I'm sure the robot itself will show up somewhere unless some government agency seized it and landfilled the run. They have shown off plenty of pictures of the black version in production and being boxed. So the units are out there somewhere. Of course they could also be caught up in some other legal hassles. It has passed through so many hands at this point, and so many lies are attached to it, that who knows how much fraud or controversy may be going on behind the scenes? There may be some question of who owns the bloody thing. Above and beyond the licensing issues.

I almost want to own one as a symbol of some of the worst product distribution ever even moreso than being a Voltron homage. Do you know if Icarus is a new company or a rebrand/offshoot?

Icarus has been around for awhile. They are a prior manufacturer that would appear to have acquired the KoB designs, tooling and product when MadToys or BUToys could no longer proceed. Icarus are the ones that showed off the Getter Arc and that funky Getter Dragon riding the Dragon last year. They don't appear to be a rename of anybody. And you are correct. At this point I almost want one just as a historical object lesson in how not to do it.

I got this message this morning from LCM Toys: Just talk with manufacturer (Icarus Toys). They said the Golion are well prepared and will be launched anytime. There are more photos of dark version in my Google album. You can check them out here: goo.gl/photos/bU8nPXHBHJtpQJLP8I will let you know when they are already on hand. Thank you for everything.

I received the exact same email from him. I told him about what I've been reading on this thread and actually gave him a link to it as well so that he's more informed. He said that he's not aware of anything like that and the licensing issues. I told him that I want my money back because even if these things ship out to us, there is no guarantee that customs will not destroy it because of what Icarus has done. I'm not willing to risk losing a little over $500 and get nothing in return. This whole situation is such a cluster F*#$!

what about the regular version ?

what about the regular version ? I notice we have seen lots of pictures of the black in production at various stages. I could be wrong, but I don't think we have seen any showing trays of regular colored parts, etc. which makes me somewhat suspect that the regular color one is still in a state of vapor ware. The black may be being made first in order to run up some cash flow for the regular. It has the benefit of being more distinct and "special" while being easier to produce (less paint work.)

No matter what happens with 2.0, I'm so glad I have the 1st version. The SOC is the definitive modern Voltron. The original KOB is unique and different. It stands alone.

This looks pretty good actually. Although it makes me think of when you see pictures of Bigfoot in the wild. And you think "hey they are gonna find Bigfoot any day now", but he never shows up.

The blacks honestly kind of bland and un interesting. The Toynami Ultimate EX Voltron Stealth version did a much better job of keeping the black scheme and adding the robots main colors as some subtle accent colors that give each lion the needed visual pop. This one is just Black. Before attempting to buy I strongly suggest you read back through the last couple of pages to see just how bizarre and precarious this whole product is. Quite frankly don't pay anything for it that you are not afraid or cannot afford to lose. That's assuming anybody ever actually sees one out in the wild.
