Weird? I see new activity here from a week ago?
Anyway, I notice it is now Aug 16. Has anyone received shipping notice or payment requests? Any sign of this phantom beast entering the market. (And once again I really really hope nobody was foolish enough to prepay.)

(And once again I really really hope nobody was foolish enough to prepay.) A release date is when the items are acrually shipped from the factory to the retailers/distributors. It's normally sometime within a week after that people start getting payment requests and whatnot because that's when the retailers have the items. It's not like video games or so nothing where a retailer is sitting on them for a period of time then is allowed to sell at a certain date.

It's not like video games or so nothing where a retailer is sitting on them for a period of time then is allowed to sell at a certain date. Most retailers these days that don't do prepay charge you for the preorder when they get the shipping notice from the factory. The tracking has gotten that efficient and that granular. That's why more often than not you get charged a week to 10 days before "release". They don't necessarily wait to get the item in hand before they consider it in stock and start processing. They start doing things either when it is shipped from the factory (for overseas vendors) or when it hist Stateside Customs (for importers). They process the payments, pre print the shipping labels and as soon as the shipment arrives it gets broken up and sent right back out. This is not to imply that normal rules in any way apply to King Of Beasts V2.0

They don't charge you when notice is sent but when they feel that the item is close to actually arriving. That's why actual retailers don't give a release date unless it's a fsctory direct one (ie. D4toys)
But this is going to become anpther one 9f those passé, irrelevant conversations so I'm bowing out and focusing on acrually obtaining this item. It's disappointing to see thread bumps, click, and see nothing pertaining to an actual release and I don't want to contribute to that.
------------
Reached out to some retailers I work with and even ones carrying it don't have anything new in terms of getting shipment notice, so I've got nothing to add.

I had a preorder with Greattoysonline. I contacted them a couple days ago inquiring about the Icarus toys voltron. They emailed me back and stated that they have had no contact with Icarus toys and were unable to get a release date. They offered my money back and I accepted. I have another still on preorder with LCM toys. I'm outside the dispute with PayPal. So hopefully it does get released. I'm happy Greattoys returned my money with no hassle.
I do see that the ones on eBay now say end of September release.

Interesting timing with the announcement of Playmates' classic Voltron coming out in December that eerily resembles Bandai's GX-71.

Kind of an odd question here... but is THIS what the factories that produce gokins look like? I was imagining something more... I don't know... high-tech... more industrial. Or maybe I was expecting to see some serious craftsmen, I don't know. This looks sort of like a sweat-shop or something.

I think I know what you mean, and yeah, I think this applies often to 3rd party factories. I'm not sure about the major ones like Bandai though, I'd like to think they're more high tech and minimize human error in production lines. Gold

Have you not seen how F4F statues are made? They are all hand painted. Pretty much the same thing like this. I hope this news is real. I have been asking IToys in every post the make on FB only to be ignored haha.

This is Icarus's space where they receive and assemble the manufactured parts.

No this isn't the manufacturing factory. This is Icarus's space where they receive and assemble the manufactured parts. Good to know. Thanks. Think of this as the Assembly floor. sometimes they do this at a contracted factory. Quite often the factory simply delivers the manufactured parts to the vendor who then does final assembly, QC and packaging in house. What you think of as the actual "Factory" may in fact be several smaller factories such as one doing metal parts, one doing plastic, one doing finishing, etc. Each sub floor or separate facility will look more like what you imagine. The Plastic one will have Injection Molding machines. The Metal one with have metal molding gear and lathes etc. The finishing shop will be much messier and have lots of paint and smock wearing little old ladies painting things.
