Looks like we are just getting the Incom variant. Would be very generous if Bandai includes the Fin Funnel backpack as well, but highly doubt it. They wouldn't pass on the chance to charge people twice.  But I'll just go for the Incom one. Have a few Nu with Fin Funnels already, so no biggy for me. |

Opened my Metal Robot Damashii Re-GZ Custom. Word of mouth was very good on this release with very good QC, but that has no power over my eternal toy curse. Although compare to my other mishaps, its very minor this time with just inconsistent joint tightness, with a few random joints rather loose or uneven. I didn't bother to tranform it to loosen the joints further, so I can only give the impression of the robot mode. It has some good weight for its size. You see a lot of exposed metal joints in all major joints (the back of the upper thighs are all sculpted exposed metal). Sculpt and overall proportion is great, paint app is quite clean too. I just wish some of the joints are tighter (especially the feet/toes). It displays fine as is, but it is not sturdy and consistent like my MRD Huckebein 30 and Hi-Nu. I also wish the shield arm connector has an extra joint like they designed the MB Hi-Nu's shield. As you can see, it attaches the arm pretty good, but you have to pose the left arm sideways for the shield to sit right. Have an extra joint on the connector would have been wonderful. There are a couple really neat features I didn't know about: - One is the Mega Beam Cannon on its back (long nose in fighter mode) can be removed and be used as a main gun in robot mode (see photo), sort of a lite version of Zeta's Hyper Mega Launcher. That is quite neat, especially if you are not a fan of the 'AK-47 wannabe' style beam rifle it came with. - Second, is the wings on the backpack also being removable, so that you can make it look very close to the design on the regular Re-GZ backpack (see 2nd photo), if you are a fan of the original. - Third, the small single thruster on the back of the lower leg automatically extends/retracts when you extend/retract the feet/ankle joint. All in all, this is a good release. If you didn't get unlucky and has a sample with good tight joints, it is a very good purchase. Got the looks, got some good gimmicks and well thought out features. It is a very nice representation of the Re-GZ Custom, and a nice unit to add to your 1/144 scale collection.   |

I was going to get Re-GZ but there are so many Gundam releases lately I had to cut back. It looks so good. I'll have to track one down eventually.

Got to give it to Bandai. Rather than just releasing as a Nu (probably ver. Ka like the one displayed in the show not long ago), they went for the MSV double fin-funnel Nu! Bravo! You did some smart marketing there!   |

Another Advance of Z release - Woundwort! I used to want the HGUC kits for this and Hazel but I'd rather have them as MRS. I PO'd this creature. I don't know the particular source material, but it's such an intriguing design. My first MRS as well, and I've been very curious about them. Not that this would be a typical example. Looking forward to it.  |
