Epyon doesn't have as much diecast as the Hazel but it's beautiful and wicked looking.

Got my MRD Epyon pre-order in at P-Bandai US. Coincidentally, P-Bandai US also started their Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals tonight as well. Got a free coupon for free shipping for orders over $100, which knocked the price of Epyon down to $170. man, i forgot to use the coupon..

Badass. Lots of history, infamous weaponry, cool redesign, gamer gripes, corporate greed all boiled down to this one release. A piece of SRW history I am experiencing right now, and will never forget. Why I said that? I'll try to make it brief. We probably know Huckebein was a mech that was introduced as protagonist's upgrade mech in SRW4 back in 1995 (lots of fond memories). It was cool and had a number of different iterations throughout different games like the Huckebein MKII and especially MKIII, which the latter can combine to a Boxer unit (giant exo-frame) to become a very cool super robot, and the proto type of the famous SRX (all designed by Katoki). Then it went through some lawsuits between Banpresto and Bandai, due to Huckebeins looking too similar to Bandai's favorite property, Gundam. Therefore in the mid 2000s, Huckebeins got a face lift, wearing big goggles, and got name changes for a good number of SRW games as a result. Many years later, when Banpresto became part of Bandai, and there was no longer a dispute, we saw Huckebein resurfaced in the recent SRW games again, and even became the flagship protagonist mech in the 30th anniversary celebration game, the latest SRW30. But as players playing through the game, and expected an awesome Huckebein upgrade late-game with fantastic animations, options for super robot mech upgrade, some crazy combinations, or even just an updated revisit of the fan favorite old Boxer Unit, all we get is the same Huckebein 30 with the XXX goggles and caution tapes removed and a bunch of old guns from previous games attached to its back, like a weapon rack. And because the main design unchanged, it gave BandaiNamco an excuse to just re-use all the attack animation of its base form, with just small update (weapon backpack) on the sprite. At the end, it felt like one of the most uninspiring and lowest effort for the SRW protagonist mech design upgrade in history. Many gamers felt disappointed by it (myself included), and have been speculating for weeks why they chose to dismiss any cool possibilities and just went for the most generic upgrade there is. Now looking at the release news of this Metal Robot Damashii, everything made sense all of a sudden. A light blue color Metal Robot Damashii Huckebein was released once in 2018, based on the appearance in SRWV. The mold is being reused for the Super Limited Edition SRW30 at launch (small change on the design, very hard to find). No one knew another version of this same toy would surface, until the Tamashii Nation event announcement a couple days ago, which this upgrade version of Huckebein, the "Huckebein 30th" is heavily featured in their live stream. Now fans who were puzzled and unhappy about its game appearance can have their answers. Not because Katoki got lazy and did minimal work for the game involvement. Not because of the game developers were uninspiring or can't think of cool ideas for the Huckebein. It was all planned from the beginning, and all boiled down to money making, how much toy Bandai can sell, as well as how much they can reuse old molds with minimal changes to what they already have made, affecting all the creative choices of the game on this particular Huckebein. With all that said though, looking at the toy, and not just the baggage it came with, it is still pretty badass! If you are a fan of the Huckebein design, and a fan of Ka Signature. This will be the best official Huckebein diecast figure in the market no question. Get one while you can, its a P-Bandai JP Exclusive. p-bandai.jp/item/item-1000165377

Don't need to feel bad for them (me included). The initial Huckebein 30 is pretty cool in its funky way, with those orange panels, bandages, XXX goggles and all. I bought both, and very glad I did. Just not very often can you buy some diecast SRW OG designs these days. A Ver. Ka even better.

Impossible made possible. After jumping through some hoops, finally got my hands on the seemingly impossible SRW30 Super Limited Edition Huckebein 30. Paying markup and pricey shipping is a given, but didn't lessen the excitement to get my hands on a diecast figure of the mech I currently piloting in the game. Joints are very tight, like recent Metal Build tight, but legs are a bit wobbly at the hip, which I thought was very odd for Bandai at this day and age. Upon, closer inspection, low and behold...the hip assembly is broken. Apparently, the hip is separated into top and bottom halves, with a screw going from the bottom up vertically, securing the 2 halves while sandwiching the 2 legs metal hip pieces in the middle to secure everything together. Whoever assembled that hip in the factory, they didn't lineup the 2 halves correctly and just jammed them together misaligned, breaking/stressing the 3 securing tiny pins, warped the lower half of the hip, and partially stripped the screw hole securing it. It was very painful to find out what actually caused the wobbly legs. Literally, "you can't handle the truth!!!". One pin broke off, and the other 2 all crooked and stressed, I have to force the warped POM plastic hip back into its original shape, adding even more stress marks. But I managed to bring the hip parts back into its original form, damaged and all, and superglued everything that can help reinforce the original structure, as well as fill the semi-stripped screw slot with glue, tightening everything back together as much as I can. At the end, surgery was a success. Reduced visible damage as much as I can, while keeping the hip assembly intact, reinforced with superglue, and got rid of the wobbliness as there is no more gaps where the diecast hip joints connect. Still see some stressed plastic if you peek under the skirts LOL, but I'll have to live with that. I just can't seem to shake off the curse of the QC god on many figures I buy (even my wife's toys are often plagued with flaws...in the same shipment no less), but I am glad I can still find enjoyment out of it regardless of my bad luck. Here is a pic with its 2004 Volks brother, and the look-a-like monstrosity Ka Signature Barzam Kai I put together in the back. Badass! Huckebein 30 in action in SRW30, with its cool vocal theme song. When it comes to diecast content, the seemingly small Huckebein 30 has quite a bit, including inner shoulder, elbow, inner waist 'spine', inner hips, inner thighs, knees, ankles, and front half of the feet. While my older Volks Huckebein is much closer to the 1/144-ish Robot Damashii scale, the Metal Robot Damashii Huck 30 is significantly taller, as shown in above pic, at about 16cm at the tip of the yellow antenna, almost an inbetween size of 1/144 and 1/100. Articulation is very good (but not ground breaking or crazy). Joints are very tight, a bit too tight in some case like the hips and double jointed elbows. So take some effort to pose.
All in all, a good release, if not a bit too rare and hard to get one without paying more than retail. But if you are not a diehard fan, probably the upgrade Huckebein 30th next year would be the better pick of the two. You lose the colorful panel decos, but you have a much more complete figure with all its weaponry and at a cheaper preorder price right now. And with the game having SRX, Cybaster, Alteisen, Weissriter, Gespenst, RyuKoOh, and rumored Dygengar also going to join in future DLCs, maybe its time to dig up my SRW figure collection and put together a display, while waiting for the Riobot SRX and Metal Robot Damashii Huck 30th's homecoming next year.

Ah man that's one of my biggest fears with P-Bandai stuff that I have to import. Because it will be near impossible to get after sales support in that situation. Glad you were able to fix it to your liking mpchi.

hey we are getting closer to Zanda Cross LOL We are. If Bandai sticks with their plan in the article and release the whole Hyaku shiki family, they may release a Hyaku shiki SP, repainted in Zanda Cross colors.
