Thank you for the kind words, guys I always appreciate the feedback. The Getter Emperor isn't quite perfect but at least we finally have an actual transforming Getter Robo in the SOC line (after 86++ releases) . I'm looking forward to the SOC Getter Go, but according to a friend who was able to go Tamashii Nations, that one will be maybe Mazinger sized only. Gold

I have a request, if anyone would like to help me out. I really want to get this guy for Christmas, but before I decide, I'd like to know the size better, so if anyone has this and other getter gokins, can you guys take some quick pics of them? Particularly, I'm interested in knowing how he looks compared to the src shin getter and getter 1. Thanks in advance

Thanks in advance Don't have SRCs you mentioned, but Emperior is just about the same volume as Riobot Shin Getter 1, like the thickness of the limbs, torso is wider, but shorter. Emperor's face lineup just about Riobot Shin 1's neck, while Emperor's long vertical horn tip line up just about the same height as Riobot Shin 1's tall shoulder tips. The tip of GX-06 Getter 1's horn/ears lines up to the bottom edge of the center green gem on Emperor's chest. While the top of SRC Mazinger Zero's head doesn't reach the green gem at all, but half an inch below. With all that said, pretty sure Emperor scales pretty well with the SRC Getters, with Emperor being bigger and more imposing (guessing 3-4 heads taller), if that is what you are looking for. Sorry, can't help you with photos since my photobucket account is jacked up ever since they asked for money.

Found one with SRC Shin 1, and some Riobot Getters. Ah thanks for that. He really does look great with all of them. That's impressive. He's not small, but still not too big to need a display all to his own. Looks awesome

Yeah, Emperior is about a mid-size SOC. A size bigger than the standard Mazingers, on par in height with Daimos, Big O, and smaller than the SOC combiners. But great with SRC size Getters and the smaller Riobots (Riobot Shin 1 and Mazinkaiser being exceptions, they are about same size as Emperor, with Shin 1 a tad taller).

It's honestly a shame Bandai didn't make more getters in the src line. I think a getter dragon and getter arc in that line would've been amazing. Also probably the only line, I think, that Bandai would have went ahead and made a shin getter G, from super robot wars T or getter daikessen. I feel as though that one is too obscure to be made into a more expensive SoC

piggybacking here, but, any clue why bandai killed SRC? TL;DR The line kept shelfwarming and the MSRP kept going up. Giant robo was $80-$100 at most retailers. At that point it completely defeats the purpose of the line of making smaller more articulated but more affordable chogokins when they cost as much as the SOC DC line which retailed $100 when the original srcs retailed $30-40 Also SRCs of transforming characters always shelfwarmers until they hit clearence. Aquarion, all of the brave bots except gaogaigar, and god sigma could all be found for under $10 at times. Finally in the long run they don't stand the test of time. Most of them become floppy messes after a few years. Also many of mine have gotten sticky parts, and they often have terrible QC.

Agreed, though I only cherry picked a couple obscure release here and there so my experience is less negative. The price is a main factor I think. Make sense to have a $50-60 gokin with minimal features and no ratchets. But when they start going $100 a pop, you start to wonder why not spending another $20 for the more premium SOC line. Some web exclusives even cost more than the standard SOCs.

Got this figure today. I'll give you my thoughts on it once I get home and open it
Edit: there's a lot to this figure, so I can't quite give my true opinions on him. I can tell, though, that the transformation wasn't actually that bad. Also, it's probably one of the most beautiful looking figures I've seen. The painting is awesome, the amount of sculpted detail is exquisite, and the use of lots of different colors of plastics, particularly the trans green, all make for a delightful sight

My final thoughts on this figure, now that I've transformed it a few times over. Both the combined mode and the separate ships look absolutely perfect. The weakest is emperor bear. You can tell he's a pair of legs and definitely oversized when compared to the other two ships, but seeing it from the front looks flawless. And the other ships are both absolutely flawless. They look perfect. As for the combined mode, no matter how much I look at it, from how many angles, and how much I mess with it, I tell you, if I hadn't transformed this figure with my own two hands, I wouldn't be able to tell it transformed at all. That's just how solid of a robot mode it is. Looks absolutely flawless, and it's incredibly sturdy. Aside from the lack of articulation in the body, this might as well be a non transforming figure. That's just how good it is. I'm just thoroughly blown away by the level of engineering that Bandai put into this. It's just insane how they managed to make a borderline flawless figure that on top of that separates into three ships, two of which are flawless, and one that's still damn good. I give it a solid 10/10. I couldn't possibly be happier with this figure. I honestly don't know how they could have made it any better while still having such a flawless transformation. The only thing I can think of that could have possibly made it better, is size. He is pretty big, but still, for a planet sized robot, he could be even bigger. However, with size comes prize, and if he was as big as I would've wanted to, I definitely would've never been able to afford him, so in the end, I'm glad he's the size he is. The GX-51 can't even begin to compare to the GX-87 in terms of quality. Absolute unit. Every fan of getter, soul of chogokin, or transforming figures, should get this figure.

Ok, I must be doing something wrong with mine, because it comes apart at the waist very easily every time I pick it up in robot mode. Admittedly, i've only transformed it the one time so far. My own first impressions are: - too small - too many floating panels, especially around the waist - not enough clearance between parts, especially the head spikes and shoulders - shoulders seem to unpeg easily when I rotate them Again, the caveat is i've only transformed it once and maybe I need to dive deeper into making sure everything aligns correctly, but i'm having some buyers regret at the moment.

I went back last night and messed around with it somemore, and yeah....same connection issues with Bear. Of the two connection points, the rear bracket really doesn't stay attached at all, and the weight of Bear's legs is too much for the remaining vertical peg. It's unfortunate, because looks-wise this thing is incredible - cool and weird and alien. Again though, too small for what it is.
If some KO company upsizes it and does a few tweaks, i'll definitely buy that, but I don't think i'm going to hold on to my current copy.

In terms of the waist connection, mine is secure. I did look at Wotafa's review when he pointed out when you push down, there is a click to secure it. So I didn't struggle to get that lock and worked fine. But I have a feeling some of yours either comes faulty or you have tried to correct/secure it many times that the connection plastic start wearing out, and stay loose. Just my guess. Hope its not the case.
*Edit Just went and test the waist connection. Very secure that it doesn't come off even when I pull hard. Only will come apart if I really have to force it (which I didn't and then put it back on shelf).
Time stamped at the connection segment, where Wotafa basically say "push it down like this, but that's not set in yet. You need to push it down further once more, until you hear a 'click', like this..."

The point of weakness is the tabs that attach to the spot where bears face is. And regardless the arms are utter sh*te as the shoulders are too tight and the pegs locking the transformation joints together dont hold tight enough leading to them popping apart when the arms are moved. And even if they could move freely the shoulders crash into the horns whenever they're touched. Picked it up still hate it back to the display case it goes
