It's not a surprise.
I recall years ago there was Metal Build poll where the fans chose the Nu Gundam as their most wanted mobile suit.
Fan madness.

I bet those fans have thought about putting together a huge sum to buy this big pile of metal. Just that they haven't thought about the chosen one who gets the pleasure to display it (others can drool though)

Maybe it was the scalpers and NY that bought them all. Lol! Good thing this doesn't appeal to me even if it ended up having good articulation, which doesn't. Sticking to MB but there hasn't been anything interesting teased/announced at least on the Gundam side.

Ah I’ve been wondering when this was going to be released. Not suprise it will sell out fast. There are collectors out there who shell out money easily who keep to themselves. Remember there some Crazy Rich Asians out there! You know they buy expensive houses in cash! I see it all the time. Damn I’m tempted to buy it but that’s new line that would take years or decades to develop more mobile suits. I just bought all PG Gundams past couple of months too and glad I didn’t have wait 20 years to develop just over 15 Gundams. I can’t see myself waiting every 2-3 years for new release it would drive me crazy.

HLJ sold out in minutes, no wonder because the limited it to 20 per customer, lets give the market to the scalpers right? HLJ is just about the money and don't care where the collectables goes to.

They love your money. New Metal Structure every year? why not?
I'm so grateful this Metal Structure line scale is 1/60, not 1/72.

Was busy and missed the craziness. I'll have to see this in person to say if I like it, but the proportions seem chunkier than I'd like. Definitely not one I'd buy at full price, we'll see how the market holds up or if the rush is mostly from resellers.

This line is like DX for metal build, usually like 2 years for releases. It took least 2 years from Gundam Nu prototype display to finally listing for sale. Going to take some time to develop each one. I believe it says it takes 2,000 pieces to make this. I’d prefer to build it for lesser price myself. I was thinking that while building out my PGs. That be cool if diecast pieces. Yeah I have 1/72 which I like and “cheap” in price. I’m just glad I didn’t buy into 1/100 Metal builds, don’t have any of those anymore. 😀

This super high end product sold out like hot cakes ! That's terrific ! There are definitely hardcore and wealthy collectors out there ! I believed the RX-78-2 would the first to be scheduled, considering the prototype shown a few years ago : I love nu gundam, but damn, a bill of 1000 € (including shipping and customs fees), I don't think I would pull the trigger...
I would happily purchase a "standard" 1/100 METAL BUILD ! I hope Bandai will do this.

Man o man! Bandai marketing tools are insane. They open Pre-Order for a thousand dollar toys. all gone in just one day? Damn! What's next? Metal Structure Sazabi?

Trust me there are some rich collectors out there. Spending over $1,000 or more on robot isn’t new don’t get into vintage if you think these prices are high. These prices will be norm in the future. See what happened to Hulkbuster Hot Toys it was listed at around same price sold out easily couple years back.

It was up or quite some time (months maybe even) but then again, that's how SS/HT do their pre-orders which I think how Bandai should handle their pre-orders. I'm not saying leaving it open for months but maybe at the least up to 48 hours.

They are perfectly aware what is hot and make more.

People had time to save up for it and some can opt for installment payments set for months. That came out a bit more budget friendly compared to this.

I remember I could have done that with HB but I stop buying Hot Toys Iron Man.

I remember I could have done that with HB but I stop buying Hot Toys Iron Man. They'd have to set up Bluefin with a store, find a central distributor to do that just like Hot Toys did with Sideshow, or improve the offerings on their north American P-Bandai store. I really doubt anybody buys anything there right now. Funny thing is, I'm on my last legs of collecting Hot Toys stuff. Been a while since I handled non-Iron Man merch and when I did after months of focusing on Metal Builds, I realized these weren't worth the price. It felt so light and fragile on my hands and the lack of dynamic poseability due to the material used for clothing is just disappointing. The Iron Man stuff is ok but not worth the price. Of course it's expensive due to the licensing they probably have to pay to Disney.
