My Sazabi has arrived. It's very big. I might make a video or something. I haven't seen any US based collector post a video of it yet.

Then again, no reviews really hardly because you first tell me how many actually were able to preorder one at the listed MSRP instead of the marked-up price?

Make sure you look for instructions to tune/lock up the knees before display, or the whole figure will be very floppy due to its size & weight.

This thread is like daggers in my heart. Can't believe I missed this piece for a decent (under $2000 USD) price. After market is absolutely bonkers.
For those of you that have it, enjoy. It looks phenomenal.

Image Anime has it in stock for $3800. That's almost double the U.S. retail price.

Might as well buy directly from Japan Yahoo Auctions or Mercari JP with a middle man service, still a few hundred dollars cheaper than $3800. Honestly though, now is way way too late to look for any deals. Would saved a grand or so if acted during release, even at scalper prices. Now are just leftover scalper traps.

Even then, I thought they were a rip off because a 10 minute subway ride to Chinatown I could find kits for 20-30% less. Only time I would fork out the cash would be for a kit other stores didn't have in stock. I get they have to pay rent at one of the most expensive cities, but they rarely even some anything at MSRP. As soon as it released they would jack up the price. Of course, the store closed down as rent prices skyrocketed and their sales dropped because they are not competitively priced.

I was there once back in the mid 90's. It was typical NYC prices (though they did have a lot of rare stuff at the time). As for the Sazabi - I'll never pay that. I will definitely get one eventually, but I have a feeling I'll be waiting for a re-release.

Picked up my first Sazabi today at a local store ($3000 CAD), it is now sitting in the office waiting for a good time for me to contraband it home. Was chatting with the store owner on upcoming stuff; apparently the re-release of metal structure Nu Gundam will be a bundle package with the fin funnels, and along side it a significant price increase. The re-release Nu will also have new markings different than the original. The sad news is that the standalone fin funnel package re-release is nowhere on the horizon, all production runs of the fin funnels in the factories now are going into the bundle package.

This is really interesting. I suppose if you're buying the re-release, there is no way to get a double fin funnel set. The first release should've included the fin funnels; it came across as a money grab when they released it separately and then advertised you could double up the sets. I'm also curious about the new markings, though I doubt they'll be drastically different. I have a feeling they won't re-release the engineer set, but who really knows with Bandai?

If Nu reissue is only going to have 1 Fin Funnel set, more Nu will develop Arthritis. Without the stand, Nu can barely stand straight with one set of Fin Funnels due to them being pretty heavy on just one side.

While I agree that the Fin Funnels should have probably been included my suspicion is not that it was a money grab but they were worried the market wouldn't support a price point of the set including the funnels. Hence why they made it optional.
They obviously realized this wasn't the case and released the Sazabi essentially complete, also the re-release having the funnels included 100% aligns with the new Sazabi release of having a complete set with a bonus option set (like the Londo Bell Engineer set for the Nu).
