Nice and all, but their marketing/PR for this is a quite a bit disingenious and misleading.
For one thing, this new SOC GX-31SP variant has orange instead of yellows now, and seems obviously missing the white linings and decals of the original SOC GX-31V. Unless the white-linings and decals are now a separate accessory.
Seems the colors on this looks more based on the recent DX SOC, tho a bit more chrome-y.
Also, 33k-yen (with tokyo-tax).
Bandai's really inflationing much...

I am wary of chrome plating because depending where you live, that finish may not last.

Also, whoever took and posted those promo pics got lazy and left the Panzer's treads outwards and stupidly wrong after removing the Eagle: Bandai's gonna bandai...

Tempting, I don't have any voltes in my collection, and I didn't want one until now. this is a 50th year anniversary and it looks great, also I know voltes is an important mecha...
But as many said, it being a tough year with so many releases, it's hard to choose which release should have priority.

I came quite late into the collecting scene and have missed out on the Voltes V. I certainly welcome this 50th anniversary at Yen30,000. Any idea what a brand new 40th anniversary cost in the open market now? Maybe 4 to 5 times that price?

Unfortunately, the reality is that Bandai Soul of Chogokin has become the Air Jordan sneakers of super robot toy collecting, with nonstop reissues and dozens of colorways to choose from through the years. I agree with you on Hot Toys too. We had to keep up with R, and now SP. What gimmick will be next? Because we know it's not going to stop with SP. lol |

This is cool to see come around again, for those that missed original releases, but man, that Respect For Volt In Box coloring, and box, was the tops release for me! Almost pervect color choices, and decals!

From time to time bandai restocks help me complete my collection. Like with boss borot, el leopardon. I'm still waiting for Daiohja. This voltes V may be in that list.

They were able to do DX Popy scale Godmars, Daltanious, Golion, etc. but they insisted on giving us scaled down versions of the V brothers... But yeah, who am I to complain, I'm not Japanese so I'm not their target market And PLEASE don't give me the "but they did DX SOC versions..." excuse, we all know they're overpriced, 80% plastic (at least for Voltes) and unnecessarily gimicky... |

I'll see if I can get one.
My last two purchases were DX Voltes and Golion black pants version.
50th (SOC) anniversary? Good timing for Bandai to release it, just a few months after the tv series Voltes V Legacy.
Good opportunity to re-issue some SOCs.
They should really use the opportunity to re-issue the Popy/Godaikin versions.
I should work for Bandai marketing.
