Treasure Island Sports? TISINC99? Good luck, you'll need it! LOL wait a couple of days, which will turn into weeks and then you call them to straighten things out to see what has happened, then they'll say, "What? You didn't get our email? <whispers...it is the Macross guy...> Ah, we don't have it in stock and we won't be getting in stock until December 2010, wait let me check, yeah, 2010 that's the year we make contact, right? So would you like to wait or we can give you store credit?"

I won an Aoshima Shin Getter Robo 1 from TISINC99 once... but they shipped me an Aoshima Mazinkaiser! (I didn't complain tho since I wanted both and was going to hunt for a Mazinkaiser next). Good luck tho - I hope your transaction with them works out well. Especially as such a good price.

I don't want pics, I want COMMENTS. Edit : oh god, the transformation and the poseability look pretty lame... The ship mode looks like ass despite all the detailing.

I disagree. Tranformation is just like the Takatoku\Matchbox and like the anime. The ship looks great.

The original transformation was lame as well. It's a $150 toy with the complexity of a $2 Minicon. Not good.

LOL ok, let's just agree to disagree, but I say it follows the show.

Well the transformation is dictated by the show and OVA so that's set in stone. Your paying for the detailing and "limitness" of it, plus SDF toys are few and far between. Besides this was designed to be a pretty much a poseable statue and not a figure you take in the backyard and play with the dog with it.

Hmm, Chen what toy would be suitable for that application?

Titanium Transformers achieve more poseability with more die-cast for like 1/6 of the price. That's no excuse, it would have been easy to give it a neck joint and some knees without altering the show-like qualities of the toy.

According to Greattoys boards member Hikaru who got the Wave SDF1: "The legs are made of heavy diecast along with some parts in the body the rest are made of plastic. The elbow joints are stiff, although the connection to the ARMD01 and ARMD02 connection is a bit loose." "Everything is solid except with the main gun. It's just like what graham said at macrossworld, the main gun halves of the sdf-1 do not lock well together in cruiser mode" Here's the original post: click hereGold

Wasn't planning to buy this, but end up finding one on ebay at a decent price.
Nice details and paint (even though mine has a couple paint hiccup spots), while not bad diecast content actually. Part of the center torso block is also diecast, not just the legs. And while its small compare to bigger Macross toys, the size itself is not that bad. Kind of like the early SOCs with a super tall shoulder/back towers. Joints in general are sturdy and tight, but a bit inconsistent. Like its tight on one hip swivel, but a little loose on the other side. And since there is no screw holes, I guess there is no way I can fix minor things like that. Elbows and shoulder mechanism is extremely fragile! Handle with great care, or the pegs will snap off for sure.
Overall, kind of feel like the earlier 1/60 Yamato VF-1, which looks good, has some weight, bit a little fiddly, with an occasional loose joint or two. Hard to hold the thing in cruiser mode without moving some parts out of place unintensionally. Almost wish that they might as well take out all the joints on the legs, just to have a sturdier thing to hold. But not bad enough that its floppy. Most joints are tight. Parts don't lock tight in transformation with pegs like u see in Takara transforming stuff, but there is some good design that help parts sit nicely in place that don't move around. The hip ratchet is strange, doesn't let the legs to stand straight, but spread out. As if the increments in the ratchet are too big. So while its pretty good, and a great looking piece (the display stand is great), you do feel like there is a lot of room for improvement in terms of execution.
A good toy, but not great.

Well, that one is the original Takatoku/Matchbox that is at 1/3000 Scale and the new one is 1/5000 scale.
