Where can I read the reviews?
I'm thinking of either this or the Mazinkaiser for the next purchase.
Thanks.

Go to greattoys.net's proboards or even TBDX's BBS. Zambot isn't exactly getting stellar reviews.
I'll post pics and a short review when mine comes in. If worst comes to worst, I'll just let him go on eBay or pass him down to my brother as a rewrap for Xmas or his Bday heh heh (his own SOC collection is actually pretty decent now, 7 mos and he's got 5 evas, three Mazs, and the Getters I gave him--he might have me beat at this time next year at the pace he's going).
Hey Omni at least you're getting yours for free so this one should definitely be a keeper for you... or you could make some major profit. ;D

Hey Omni at least you're getting yours for free so this one should definitely be a keeper for you... or you could make some major profit. ;D I know, but I could have gotten something a little more worthwhile, like maybe the GX-06M at HLJ. I need that set to complete my Nagai SOC collection. You know what mean? Well, he's on the way, so, I guess I'll give Zambot a chance to grow on me. ;D

Mine just arrived (well actually it got here Saturday but I wasn't here) but I had to go pick it up from the post office just now. Coincidentally, I also had another shipment of toys (BTTF Delorean and Ghostbusters Ecto1) waiting for me at the post office and so the lady was kind of teed off when she had to lug these heavy boxes from the back. ;D ;D ;D
Gotta go to sleep now so I will post a review later on tonight.

My impressions of Z3: When I first picked up the package from the post office, my initial thought was the box wasn't as heavy as the Dancougar. No surprise there though since I already knew that he was going to be a little smaller than Dan and from the not so warm reviews I read on the net, I thought he was going to have little to zero diecast. TO my surprise though, Zambot has a sufficient amount of diecast... just as much as Dancougar (I think) and more than what people were saying in their reviews. His whole torso (Zambull) is almost entirely made of zinc! The diecast can also be found in the typical places as in his waist and lower legs. BTW, the rod used to make the Zambot blow (double sided sai spear) is also diecast. As mentioned elsewhere, Zambot has lots of accesories but this isn't necessarily a bad thing in my opinion since Bandai came up with a pretty innovative way of storing these accessories by using Zambull's lower tank vehicle (not used when Zambot is in his combined mode). The only problem is when you want to display Zambull in vehicle mode, you have no where to store all these weapons and accesories. Not a real problem though since I plan on displaying him in his combined mode anyways. I also can't complain about the parts swapping because like Chen said, they are only there to give us the option to have the perfect looking Zambot. Also, the reviews I've read failed to mention that Zambot can gattai and transform without swapping parts. His gattai process is simple but not so overly simple as Dancougar's "hat and shoes" add ons. Zambot is a true "gattai" transforming robot. I was surprised and a little disappointed at just how small Zambot Ace really is. I expected him to be the same size as the Mazingers but he measures at just over 5 1/2 inches (just up to Gx-07's chest). But that disappointment quickly disappeared when I began handling and transforming Z-Ace. He is mostly plastic but he does have diecast. The front folding piece of his torso is zinc. He may feel like has no substance because he is so light but this is due to the hollow sliding parts of the arms and the legs, and the folding parts of the torso to store Zambot's head. I am very impressed at the fact that he is so articulated and he can still transform into a ship and into Zambot's head. An engineering marvel for such a little guy. As emphasized in the other reviews, Zambot has a lot less articulation than Dancougar or even Combattler but he just looks so good and so together in combined form that I've grown to look past this. My only complaint is Zambot's "plasticky" looking parts which to me are really only the yellow wings and the red piece used to attach the wings to Z-Aces back. I can understand where Bandai is coming from though because I think they wanted to keep these parts somewhat flexible so that they are less susceptible from breakage and to prevent them from scratching the diecast they come in contact with. Painting the wings gold (like Dancougar's chest piece) would probably be useless since the paint would just chip if they bend a little. Everything else looks decent, even the silver (not chrome) painted plastic parts. Zambot also has no other gimmicks except for his gattai and Zambot Ace. However, there is enough fun to be had just combining him and messing with his different weapon combinations. Overall not a disappointing purchase for me because he is actually pretty fun to handle and although he has a bit of floppiness in the legs, he is still pretty sturdy despite all the moving parts. Probably sturdier than Dancougar and Combattler because of less articulation. He actually goes well with my other bots too and is a perfect compliment to Combattler V (I'll definitely be picking up the original anime colors now) and Voltes V (hoping he is the next gattai). I mentioned this before, but him and Gouraisenpujin (as shown below) almost seem to be related, like brothers. Is Zambot worth $200? IMO, no, but you are getting two awesome robots in one. If you are a fan of 70's gattai super robots, he is pretty close to being a godaikin without having to pay over $400 or more for one. Zambot is definitely a step in the right direction towards a SOC Voltes V. Here are some quick shots I took earlier: Zambot Zambot with guccis Combattler & Gouraisenpujin A little OT but I also wanted to include my two new diecast movie cars. If you guys like, I can also do a review for them later in the OT section.

Great review! That ECTO-1 looks sweet! Too bad I can't splurge on that. That thing must be heavier than Zambot 3, no?

Sorry guys, I posted the pics on villagephotos.com and I've exceeded my bandwidth limit. Anyone know a better site (preferably free) to post pictures? Anywayz, the pics I posted are just Z3 and a group shot with Gouraisenpujin and Combattler3 Guccis. I'm sure you guys can find better pictures of him elsewhere on this board or on the net. I just wanted to give my view on this SOC to dispel some of the negativity (especially about the diecast rumors) going around the net. It maybe overpriced and it may not be for everyone but its not a bad toy at all.

I picked up Zambot today and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. How can you not love him!? First off I think he's way better than Combattler. The die cast ended up being more than I expected. Its true many parts are fragile. I was especially scared attaching the rifle scope to the utility belt. He’s really commanding as a full robot, my other Chogokin are quaking in their boots. I'm going to give him an overall 8.7 out of 10 I snapped a few pics Message me if the pictures break and I will repost them.

It's true it was fun sorting through the BIG box at my local shop looking for freshest one! I sniffed really hard to see which one was the most styro-fragrant! ;D
I would like to add that reading all the mediocre reviews on Zambot really dropped my expectations (kinda like a movie review).....Well I went to see the movie not expecting much, but it turned out to be great!

but arbiti!! ..... I still think that they sould paint the chest plate and the sliver moon on his forhead with a metalic yellow or plate them instead of having them looking like barbie plastic toy!! the engeneering for this item is very cool ..... it is just that thing that they should fix originally ... and it is easy to fix!!

You're totaly right they did include one chest plate that was painted and it does look better. But in the over all scope of things I think this is very minor. And I do consider myself picky. Just my opinion.

Cool pics ;D Zambot is going to be my next big item purchase. I would love to see some pics of Zambot with some other SOC's like Dancouga and the Getter Robo's to get a better sence of scale.
