Other than Toynami's typical QC issues, anyone else find the "limited editon" numbers on the box not matching the one on the toy (IIRC, the number can be found under Black Lion's jaw)?

Other than Toynami's typical QC issues, anyone else find the "limited editon" numbers on the box not matching the one on the toy (IIRC, the number can be found under Black Lion's jaw)? I've been wondering about that. My numbers happen to match up, but my theory is that unmatched numbers are "extras" that the Hong Kong factory made. Hong Kong factories always make extras of anything they produce. That's how they make extra money, whether it's clothing or toys, and numbers not matching up would sort of make sense if this were the case because it would all be done on the side. I really don't think it makes any difference though. I mean it was a limited edition of what, 15,000? Good hell, that's like a standard production run. And if extras were made how would Toynami ever know with that many being made, not to mention that they have a hard enough time watching QC.

I just received mine today. First of all, I must that I'm impressed with the quality of the product. I'm a SOC collector so I know what is quality. But like other said, it's the quality control the problem.
The only problem I'n noticed so far is the legs of the lions. When they are in Lion mode, the leg joint seems a bit loose. Maybe it's made that way to provide more stability... I don't know.
In Robot mode, well the blue lion do not connect the black lion, but the rest is fine. I'll see what I can do with the blue lion.
UPDATE
Not the blue leg click, the problem was that the cover was too tight, to I push a little bit to expend it and when I enter the black lion leg I pusehd a bit harder. Ad then....click.
Everything is fine with Voltron.

You know, now that I think about it I had that problem too.. for about five seconds.. but I fixed it the same way as Actarus. I just pushed and jiggled it a little bit. I guess I didn't really think of it as a problem. After getting it to go in the first time now it goes in fine.
Come on you guys, you have to push and jiggle it a little bit and it will go in fine. ;D

ahhh, that info is not timely for me. i've returned my voltron yesterday and had my refund. but i'm still undecided now to purchase toynami's mpc voltron again. it's not just the blue lion, the arm lions seems to pull from the sockets so easily. before returning mine, i was posing the gokin, the red lion fell from its socket twice. luckily no paint chip and the sword not broken. just be careful when you pick voltron, and be ready to catch the arm lions (red and green lion) when they suddenly fall away from their sockets.

Hey MannyD I won't defend Toynami, because it's very possible that there are a number of unfixable complaints including yours, but from my own experience with it, I did notice that I had to work the pieces in to make them fit correctly when I was first putting it together. Both with the arms and the legs, and ths probably shows that the engineering is not everything it should be. But I could have just been lucky?

xiombarg: don't get me wrong either bro. i like this mpc voltron. the design, the heft and size, the amount of diecast and excellent paintjob, and the presence it exudes in my display case. but the design of the connectors (specially the arm lions) is making me think twice to purchase it again. in my case, ultra care is needed when handling my voltron to prevent the arm lions from popping out. but i'm glad though that the problem with the blue lion connector can be worked out (as suggested by actarus and you). anyways i'll give it time, if i will get inspired again to purchase it (even with the design flaws), then i will go for it. tnx

MannyD,
As with most cases with Toynami "Masterpieces" wait it out. You're bound to see a couple of online stores or collectors selling these things for 10 to 15% cheaper.
Kinda like what's happening to the MPC Veritechs.

I got my Voltron Masterpiece from my comics dealer just this Wednesday (Feb. 1). I got it for $120. Hope it is a good deal. In my opinion the workmanship is not as good as Bandai.

I finally got it from Diamond Comic Distributors: Since you guys have already seen lots photoshots about it, I'm only showing the box shot. Over all, I love this toy. It is VERY HEAVY and VERY TALL. At the chin part of the black lion there's printed limited edition number. One more thing about this piece, the chrome is so shiny that finger prints and smuggies WILL get onto it if you are not careful, I think i need to put some protective coating before displaying it. Can anyone suggest me some high quality protective chrome coating?

Manny D: Thanks man. (I was actually inspired by your signature... ) Andrewdsz: Thanks for taking pics of the "box" or is it a "book"? So, they are only releasing 5,000 of the total 15,000. I wonder when the rest will come out? Will it depend on the sales/demand?

Congratulations guys, hope you enjoy it! So I'm curious what you guys think about it? Did Toynami do Voltron justice or did they miss the mark again? I'm also curious to know if either of you had any problems with the connections?
