*sigh* Here we go again... JWM LOL, I was thinking a similar thought. Reideen, aye? How many of us have been begging for this? Probably the most anticipated since Voltes. I can't wait man. I really like the smaller, more classic and simple designs of the SOCs. Reideen will fit right in with all the Maz's and Getters. Iron Gear ain't too shabby either!!! Man... I'm really falling behind on the SOCs. Still want Gunbuster, Ideon, the Xabungle ones, T-28... not to mention the Evas. So many winners.

Yes. Marvel Comics was doing a lot of tie-ins with toy companies around this time, and Mattel had just come out with the SHOGUN WARRIORS line of toys, so the book was produced to promote them. Marvel had previous produced a Godzilla comic which ran 24 issues, which also featured a super robot, Red Ronin, which was based on Raideen (since the series was broadcast in NYC in 1976). The comic ran 20 issues from 1978-79 and was written by the same team as the Godzilla comic, writer Doug Moench and artist Herb Trimpe, which featured Raideen, Combatra, and Dangard Ace.

Yep. on the spanish Channel 47 Saturday nights at 9pm the Nippon Broadcasting Company would start their airtime with Raideen ('76)... then the Goranger series a year later... ...<sigh> these Shogun Warrior comics bring back fond childhood memories of them tv shows! ;D zozo-Magengar Yes. Yep. on the spanish Channel 47 Saturday nights at 9pm the Nippon Broadcasting Company would start their airtime with Raideen ('76)... then the Goranger series a year later... RAIDEEN was also broadcast on foreign-language stations in Honolulu (where the subtitled version originated, KIKU-13), San Francisco (KEMO-20), Los Angeles and Chicago. The series was distributed and sponsored by Marukai Trading Company, which imported all of the Raideen-related toys and t-shirts. In San Francisco, we also got KIKAIDER: THE ANDROID OF JUSTICE, SUPER CAR: GATTIGER, UFO WARRIOR: DAI-APOLLON and SECRET TASK FORCE: GORANGER. For Mechadevil, Raideen stood 52 meters (approximately 171 feet) tall, while Mazinger Z stood only 18 meters (approximately 60 feet) tall. Great Mazinger stood 25 meters (approximately 82 feet) tall.

Since Iron Gear is set for a Sept 2007 release, I guess we won't see Raideen released until October at the earliest(but it might even be as late as December or January 2008?) BTW it looks like Raideen will only be 7 inches tall, or roughly as tall as Gx01R Mazinger Z. So it won't be in scale with it but I guess it can go in scale with Ideon.. kinda... Gold

And BOTP on KBHK 44 growing up in the Bay Area was AWESOME! ;D Yes it was! Don't forget all of the horror, monster and sci-fi movies every week on "Creature Features," "Chiller Diller Matinee," "Friday Night Drive In Movie," "The Ghoul," "Monster Movie," "Monstrous Movie," etc. Lots to watch! (BTW, SPACE PIRATE: CAPTAIN HARLOCK was on the International station, KEMO-20 on Sunday nights at 8:00 pm. The same station that aired RAIDEEN and DAI-APOLLON.) Really looking forward to this SOC! ;D

Growing up in SF was the best. www.bobwilkins.net/captaincosmic.htmwww.snowcrest.net/fox/cosmic.htmlKTVU was so much better b4 they became a FOX affiliate. Remember when they would show 5 Deadly Venoms as their 8 o'clock movie or have Bruce Lee Week? Brilliant. Sorry to get all nostalgic and off-topic. Reideen is a definite must-buy for me, and is one I've been waiting for. Can't wait to see some early pics.

My dad was good friends with one of the tech guys for KTVU back then. I have pics of myself with Captain Cosmic and of me sitting on the Creature Feature throne Including a great pic of 2T2 thru the side where you can see the JC Penny's car battery that powered him (One day I'll be able to get them and I'll post 'em...they are at my parents among HUNDREDS of photo albums! though I do have a signed pic and my old decoder card displayed in my collection room.) Back on topic, Raydeen's release date can't get here fast enough!

That's awesome, Dragonclaw! You might feel inclined to submit some scans of those photos to Scott Moon who maintains the official Bob Wilkins website. I have my Captain Cosmic Decoder Card sitting on my desk... Do you remember the "Godzilla Fan Club" which was advertised on Captain Cosmic? Ahhhh, "Chiiiiiiiiiiillerrrrrrrrr" ( was that Lurch's voice?) You're talking about the NYC-area "Chiller" show, we're talking about "Chiller Diller Matinee," which was shown Sunday afternoons on KTVU-2 San Francisco/Oakland. But, here's an excellent site about NYC area horror shows from the 1970s (as well as DVD reviews): DVD DRIVE-IN! Click on "NY TV Monster Movie Memories"... YES! Anytime I hear Captain Cosmic I gotta stand up and applaud the great Bob Wilkins who introduced me to all those great Japanese shows as a kid. Growing up in SF was the best. Agree. Rushing home from school to catch "Captain Cosmic" was a highlight of my weekdays! Remember "TV Pow"? KTVU was so much better b4 they became a FOX affiliate. Remember when they would show 5 Deadly Venoms as their 8 o'clock movie or have Bruce Lee Week? Brilliant. Yeah! Rumor has it that Fox and Cox Broadcasting (who have always owned KTVU) have been at odds of late, and that Fox is threatening to pull their affiliation -- KTVU is prepared to return to a powerful local independent. Guess who is waiting in the wings to pick up the Fox affiliation? KRON-4, who lost their decades-old NBC affiliation a few years back. Sorry to get all nostalgic and off-topic. Reideen is a definite must-buy for me, and is one I've been waiting for. Can't wait to see some early pics. Agree. I've been a RAIDEEN fan since 1976 and can't wait to replace my wonky PVC Medicom Miracle Action Figure! Knowing what Bandai's SOC line is capable of, we can only expect the best for this classic among classics.

Ditto here, man... I luv Raideen as much as I luv Maz. I just haaaad to have me a Miracle Action Raideen figure in my hauls, I like its well-defined look and its accessories... ...but, I must agree, it does pose kinda flimsy-- I'm almost afraid to handle it so much that I might break it. So, I just leave it posed on my shelf. I'm definitely lookin forward to the SOC Raideen. zozo-Magengar
