Btw I dont know if its been mention here but the plastic isnt as bland as they are on the pics. The plastic has some glitter effect to it so it looks semi-metallic. Nice effect.I also like GBG's look more

Hey. I got Great Baan Gaan this morning at 8 in the morning. Excellent! Heres a few pics. No vehicle mode shots yet. Comparison with CM's Mecha Action Series Great Baan Gaan's box The layout of the box is very similar to the God Raijinoh's box layout. Except the accessories tray was tucked away on the bottom. Took me 5 minutes to find it lol. Comparsons between Baan, Sperion and Exkaiser. If you thought removing Exkaiser's hands were tough, try Baan's. Vehicle/beast comparison. Baan and Sperion are Tiny! Baan combines wrong. Minor gripe. Baan Gaan and King Exkaiser. Baan Gaan is slightly taller then King Exkaiser Heres the whole gang. From left to right: DragonKaiser, Mach Sperion, Baan Gaan and King Exkaiser. Some of you were b*tching about the fact that Mach Sperion's wings werent spread out. Here ya go. Great Baan Gaan and Great Exkaiser. Lastly a comparison between the DX Great Baan Gaan and the Mecha Action Series Great Baan Gaan. There are a few problems with this toy. One is that some parts feel really fragile. some pieces are too thin and looks like if over used they will snap (Great baan gaan's crest piece). Also this figure has a tendency to fall over. Maybe some of the diecast should go to their feet! Talking about diecast, there is some. Just not much. The black piece that attaches Baan Gaan's wings to the body is which I am thankful for since it looks like one of the easier to break parts if plastic. Also The back of Baan Gaan's skirt armour is diecast and a bit of Mach Sperion's legs. As I said, not much. The collar piece that attaches Mach Sperion's head to the body is already showing stress. Not good. Sperion's bird head piece also has a tendency to go flying if it touches the floor or is transformed. So does one of Baan's shirld (car door) pieces. As said in previous posts. It is not perfect transformation. Even combining into Great Baan Gaan requires many parts to sit to the side doing nothing. I havent tried Baan Gaan's dragon or carrier modes or Mach Sperion's Jet or Phoenix modes so I cant comment yet. Overall I'm quite happy with it despite some of its shortcomings. Thanks for the great review RoanStalker. With a heavy heart I had to cancel my preorder, I'm planning to get married next year and I have to carefully consider my choices from now on when it comes to the hobby. Hopefully I can still backtrack this later on. The GBG looks really great when fully combined, congrats to those who were able to get this. Gold

It appears mine was one of the lucky lot. Some have had QC issues like paint damage and missing pieces or pieces break off straight out of the box. Have you recieved yours yet Orbitron? Were there any problems with yours? Congrats to your marriage btw Gold.

I'm so bummed out about this Baan Gaan that it kind of pisses me off. I've been a huge fan of Baan Gaan from day one and I thought that finally we would have a serious DX version. I don't care about the price, I just want a worthy figure that lives up to the asking price, and this doesn't live up to $320, let alone $580 and all that nonsense.
In all seriousness, if this was the figure that I had envisioned in my mind when I first saw the promo pics, I would have paid at least twice as much as their initial asking price.
From what I've seen of this figure so far..mmm, how about $149.00.

The price doesnt seem as much to me probably because I live in the UK and it seems to me you americans that get stuff way cheap. To me Great Baan Gaan was the one thing I was looking forward to this year and it delivered. It may not look exactly like it does in the animation/game, but given how complicated its transformation is, do you really expect it to? Its annoying about the non perfect transformation to the dragon mode but if they intergrated everything I believe it'll be a floppy mess of parts in every mode.

At that price, it should have been fully integrated. Some deluxe Transformers already have really complex transformations, so one can only imagine what a $400 toy could accomplish.

I dunno, would the dragon's neck even fit in his chest with Baan needing to go in there too?

Personally I think it would have been better had CMS released the two figures separate in the brave line. They still could down the road.

Very impressive looking figures but way too expensive for mostly all plastic toys. Plus from all the reviews I've read their even more fragile than Yamato Valks with the same quality issues. Still in their combined form they are gorgeous looking toys.

I'm such a robot s-lut. Even though it's a dumb purchase, I'm buying it for the love of the character, even though I know I'm getting ripped off. The only thing I can say in defense of my stupidity is that I'm buying it through a reliable seller who is willing to take small monthly payments without financing charges.
How does CM comes up with their pricing decisions for the DX line anyway? It's their worst line of figures, yet they charge the most for these pieces of plastic! The DX line has the worst engineering, the least amount of diecast, and they charge double the amount of the average Brave figure? What the hell???!!!
To make it worse, they make Baangaan an online pre-order only, so you know you can't return it because of defects.
But have no doubts, I plan to do a completely objective review when I get it.. although it will probably be four or five months down the road.

The price comes down to the complicated design of Great Baan Gaan (according to someone who's talked to a staff of CM's, Not me). I dont know about anyone else but I absolutely love my Great Baan Gaan XD. One of my favourite Combining robots in my collection. Beats out Masterpiece Great Exkaiser but only slightly. Have you had the time open yours yet Orbitron?

Hey roanstalker, I feel kind of bad for being so critical about this figure. There's been a lot of things that have rubbed me the wrong way with how this figure has been marketed and sold.. with two sets of pics by CM, the plastic content, and then not being distributed outside of Japan, and then how resellers immediately gouged the price up when the original price was so high to begin with..
But all that aside it's very posiible I'll end up thinking it's a great figure? It's very unlikely that I'll feel it was worth $500, but that doesn't mean it's not a good figure. The truth is, I'm glad to hear you like it. And without a doubt it's one of the most charismatic figures I've seen to date. I love the Baangaan character design.
I've actually had a little bit of financial luck at work and I should be getting mine soon. I'm very interested to see how it pans out.
