considering the nature of cost etc whenever a new mold is designed, I'm quite surprised that Yamato didn't put out a whole bunch of QR variants following the Milia and then the limited run of Max coloured ones. Other than that, the 1/60 scale has been mostly VF-1 releases with a few variations (and a few other valkyries from M0 and M+ but you know what I mean). And yes... I could be convinced to pick up a Destroid if they would make one in 1/60 scale.

This is such a great time to be a Macross fan. We have a new tv series to celebrate the 25th Anniversary and an assortment of NEW VF's coming in 2008 from Bandai AND Yamato. Yamato has officially released photos of their NEW 1/60 VF-1(S). I'm in love. bandai has new VF's coming out? where you heard that? i want bandai macross toys.

Bandai is the sponsor of the new Macross show, so it's assumed that they'll be given priority for the license to make figs of the fighters in it.
There's no ACTUAL confirmation of new Bandai Valks, unfortunately. Just e-speculation.

Thanks to Graham (from Macrossworld) for the new scan. Fast Packs have already been made for the new 1/60.

Unfortunately, the Queadluun Rau didn't sell too well. Yamato thought it quick to quit while they were ahead. Personally, I'm one of the few who actually like the construction of the QR's. They're very well made, nice articulation, and very durable. www.collectiondx.com/node/231@lurkerx: Here you go! The Yamato 1/60 Scale "Coffee Table"

Cool... I wanted to get a 1/48, but now I think I'll wait for the 1/60. Do you think they will show inferior detailing and engineering compared to the 1/48?

hm...nice, but not worth the effort for me...i'd have to sell off all my old 1/60s, then hope that they actually decide to do the entire line right down to 1Ds , elints and ostriches.

It is nice but about a year ago I hunted down the 1/60s with fastpacks and the Elintseeker and Super Ostrich at considerable expense and invested in custom decals. Applied them, dullcoted them and the end result was great. Then the news that Yamato were releasing new versions came. I promised myself I would only get them if they featured full tampo printing but from the pics it seems they don't. I'm a bit disappointed with that to be honest. The supplied stickers still give a poor finish on those publicity shots.

It looks nice... Is it functionally superior to the 1/48 version?

in my confusion I made a early bird pre-order at HLJ for the 1/60 VF-1S (I think the price is right with the fast pack)... still don't know what to think of the Bandai Origin of Valkyrie series.... do they compare with the Yamato 1/60's? what to expect of them? any infos here?

Unless I'm mistaken, the Origin of Valkyrie series are (yet another) repress of the original 1/55th toy, so they really don't compare at all. They're a vintage toy, nigh indestructible but with terrible proportions, limited poseability, and none of the fancy shmancy engineering of the modern stuff. They have their own merits, of course, but they're just in a different league of items.
